VCB 4/4/2006

The VCB is the best place to purchase books if you are an NIU student. They always seem to have cheaper rates than the Holmes Student Center bookstore. Also, the VCB offers much more than just school books. School supplies are available and many souvenirs and gifts are available to purchase. Great place for NIU paraphernalia and a great place to pick up cards to send to family and friends. more

nice bookstore 12/2/2005

VCB is a pretty decent bookstore for NIU students. It has a good collection of textbooks for courses offered in the university and the books are more often than not cheaper here than in the campus bookstore. The store also has a good collection of gift items and logo wear. They also have pretty decent clearances from time to time on NIU logo merchandise. They also offer a good rate for returning used textbooks. more

Campus books and textbooks 10/22/2005

This is a great place to go to buy textbooks for classes at Northern Illinois University. They seem to have slightly cheaper prices than the university bookstore. I also seemed to have better luck selling back my books and receiving more money here than at the campus bookstore. The only drawback to this place is that you have to store your backpack in a little cubby hole by the entrance and it seems really unsafe and easy to be stolen. more

Great place to find unusual books 9/11/2005

Village commons bookstore has a lot of unusual books that you might not find in your average bookstore. They have all the basics and the classics but also some fun things like tarot reading and horoscope books. They're maybe not the most educational choices of books, but they sure are fun. You could spend all day in the Village Commons Bookstore just browsing, but their prices are reasonable when you buy, too. more

More than a bookstore 8/12/2005

The Village Commons Bookstore is more than just a place to get your school text books. You can get everything you may need here from post-its to highlighters to NIU t-shirts and sweatshirts. You can also get art supplies that you may need for specific art classes. Another nice thing about the Village Commons is that you can get them to make Sorority/Fraternity sweatshirts here. I'm not sure of anywhere else in town that will do this. You can also buy sorority/fraternity paddles here too. more

Bookstore and school supplies 8/10/2005

The Village Commons Bookstore is located on the Northern Illinois Campus. They have a huge inventory of books - new and used. They also carry a wide variety of school supplies, including art supplies, framing supplies, and general merchandise. They will cut matts to your specifications for custom framing. They have a large selection of NIU paraphernalia. more

Great for NIU stuff & money back on books 8/4/2005

VCB is a great one-stop shop for the NIU student. It has a great selection of regalia for the Huskie fans. It has a decent selection of software. They were never out of any books I needed. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They offer a great selection of gifts and tokens for that last minute event. Or for thos epoor college students looking for a quick and cheap birthday gift. It is at a great location and never seems to be out of anything. more
