When will the US Postal Service close this location? 12/28/2009

When we first moved to Saratoga in the '90s we always had great mail delivery. But, this has steadily declined to the point I don't trust the arrival of important items. \r \r Over the past year two large commercial checks were never delivered and had to be cancelled. Plus, an important parcel was at first ""lost"" then suddenly located after the sender had their local USPS station contact the Allendale Ave, Saratoga USPS. \r \r Speaking to the Allendale USPS employees about problem deliveries is a frustrating waste of time. (After I complained my service actually got worse.)\r \r I have joined several of my neighbors, who've also had mail delivery issues, in a letter writing and email campaign to request this USPS location be closed. This will at least transfer our mail delivery to another site. \r \r If you've had similar incidents of poor/indifferent service at the Allendale Ave, Saratoga Post Office, send/email your complaint to the following address and request this location be placed on the ""candidate for closure"" list:\r John E. Potter, Postmaster General \r U.S. Postal Service \r 475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW \r Washington, DC 20260-0010 \r E-mail: pmgceo@usps.gov more

The customer is always right?????? 8/6/2009

I went to pick up vacaton hold mail and Swe told me that there was none so the carrier must have it on his truck and would be delivering it. I told her that wouldn't be the case as I didn't give a date for resumiong mail and had checked that I would pick it up but she was insistent that there was no mail there. Called later and it was there but they said it was down low and she hadn't bent down far enough to see it. Not much of an excuse and so it was 2 trips to the post office and 2 times waiting in line. Not a very good way to treat customers. more

Too small, too slow, rude staff, backwater post office -- Go elsewhere! 8/28/2007

Because of my job and my hobbies (E-bay anyone?) I'm a big customer of USPS, UPS, and occasionally FedEx. I've used post offices and UPS's all over the eastern seaboard, Oregon state, and the bay area. And this location is the inexcusably slowest I've ever been to.\r \r Whenever I go, whatever the time may be, there is always a very long line. I'm used to lines, but what I'm not used to is the inexplicably slow service I always encounter here. \r \r I think the Saratoga branch is still stuck in some 1950s 'little town on the prairie' era when this area was really in the middle of nowhere. It just cannot keep up with the times or the obvious population boom.\r \r I could tolerate this before because it was so close to home and the people who worked there were generally friendly and as efficient as they could be. They were quite helpful.\r \r But NOW -- the usual friendly and professional employees I've come to know seem to have been replaced by sub-par newbies. One employee was obviously very flustered and frazzled and kept on walking to the back of the post office while customers were waiting at her counter in order to yell at other employees. The woman who was helping me didn't understand my questions and kept on talking over me disparagingly in a self-important manner and she made faces. Really off-putting. She didn't seem to have any basic customer service training and another employee had to help her.\r \r There was only ONE counter open even with 8-9 people waiting in line. After waiting 10 minutes another frustrated customer had to ask for a window to open. It took me 35 minutes to mail 2 packages. There was a male employee who tried to speed up the process, but he inexplicably skipped 5 people in line and randomly helped a guy behind me, even though I also had packages to mail.\r \r I'm going to totally avoid this place and go to another post office that knows what they are doing. \r \r I'm disappointed this post office is so showing its backwater colors. Pros: Close if you live in Saratoga Cons: Everything else -- SLOW, LONG WAIT, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE more
