The Laura Gregory Salon

I had the same hair stylist for years so it was a lengthy and costly struggle when it was time to find a new one. I went through a few unsuccessful attempts before I found this salon. I found the staff friendly and unpretentious. I also like that they will give you the price of services on the phone in a very straightforward manner instead of saying ""They start at _____"" (I ended up paying about $50 more than what they ""start at"" at one place and I have very simple, straight hair cut in a bob.) My stylist, Rosanne, always does a great job and I enjoy talking with her. Everything is very clean and has a peaceful vibe. I drive all the way from Dublin just to get my hair cut here. more

We drive two hours to visit the Laura Gregory Salon! Rachel is an amazing stylist and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair!! We not only go up there for Rachel but for everyone in the salon. This salon is very classy and sophisticated without the stuffy feel that many high end salons have! You will not find more friendly, laid back and down to earth people!! We love each and every one of them!!! more

I have gone to Maureen several times and have never been disappointed. The salon is great and she makes the experience even better. She is professional and fun and will give you ideas for your hair as well as do just what you want. I find it easier to give a little guidance and let them do their work. She suggested I put another color/highlight in my hair to break up my current highlights and it did wonders. more

Rachel is the best hairstylist I have ever had. I came to her a couple of years ago (by a friend recommendation) wanting to switch from long hair to short and she did such an amazing job that I just keep coming back. I get such a short hairstyle that I need someone who knows what they are doing and she has never let me down. I always leave with such a stylish haircut and she takes the time to show me how to style my hair and pick the best product for my style. People are always asking where I get my haircut and telling me that my hair looks great! Thank you so much Rachel!! more

Best salon in Columbus, hands down! Clean, trendy environment without inflated prices due to overrated names like Charles Penzone, but excellent work that competes and beats the more ""name brand"" salons. I have bad hair and Rachel makes me look good...everytime! more

I got a color and a cut 2 days ago and just have to write this so no one gets into what I did. I have been looking for a new stylist for some time now and decided to go onto City Search. From the reviews I read I decided to got to The Laura Gregory Salon. When I arrived was asked what I wanted done. I said I wanted the same color and a trim. I explained that my old stylist (who is sick and no longer doing hair) always did a weave first and then colored the roots of the rest. The hair stylist (I believe Maureen) started to color my whole head without a weave). I thought this was strange so I asked if I was going to have any highlights. She said yes I would have plenty. To make a long story short when I done I looked in the mirror and about fainted. My hair was dark brown. I have been a blond for over 35 years now! She knew I was not happy to say the least and asked if I wanted a few highlights or wait and see if I would get used to the color. I said I wanted the highlights and she put in maybe 5 foils. I couldn't even tell there were highlights in it. I should have told her then that I wanted her to fix it but I was afraid of what she would do. Now I have to find someone to fix it! The cut was not what I wanted either. I wanted a trim and she cut it to short. She also cut the front alot shorter then the back and I have no idea how to style this. Do not believe what all you see on here. I'm sure there are probably some good stylist here but find out first and ask for them. Or just skip it!!!! more

I got my haircut last month and I had to get on to write a review because I am still upset about it. I went in to get a trim with some new long layers and left with over five inches cut from most of my hair. The layers are chunky and none of it is even. I immediately started crying when I left and couldn't stop thinking about it during my trip to New York that weekend. I have never done this before but I have worn my hair in a ponytail for a month now and am going to get it fixed tomorrow. I am sure most of the stylists would not let this happen but I would suggest taking a picture with you showing exactly what you want. more

This is a terrific salon! Greg has been cutting my hair, my husband's hair, and my son's hair for years. Every single cut has been wonderful--he really listens to what we want, and he has the experience and talent to pull off very different styles. The ambiance of the salon is also outstanding. It's very clean, with a soothing but artsy look. The salon definitely elevates Columbus's urban ""chic"" profile. Many of my colleagues and friends have been using Laura Gregory for years--I've never heard a complaint from any of them. I'm amazed (and insulted) by the suggestion of one reviewer that any of these reviews are fake. The salon has a lot of satisfied reviews because it really is that good! more

The Laura Gregory Salon is a great salon to go to. I have been going to Andie since I was in high school. She did my hair for prom, then 10 years later she did my hair for my wedding. This December I will be taking our daughter to Andie to get her 1st haircut for her 2nd birthday! I routinely go to her for my highlights and haircut. I would recommend her and all the stylists to anyone! more

I have been a regular client of the Laura Gregory Salon since they opened their salon in their previous location. I routinely carry my stylist's business card with me to hand out to strangers who stop me to inquire about who did my cut and color -- it happens all the time. Not only am I pleased with the excellent service I receive from ANDIE (who is fabulous in every way), but I love the congenial atmosphere and genuine friendliness of the other stylists and owners whom I have gotten to know over the years and consider to be truly, lovely people who care about their craft and the well being of their clients. I have recommended the salon to a number of people who are regulars now, and will continue to do so in the future. Suffice it to say that it is close to my new house, I saw it had high ratings on here and thought it would be good, and it wasn't. I hate my hair cut and have only just stopped crying about it to write this. The only reason I made a citysearch account was to write a review of this place. If you look at other salons, they don't have nearly this many reviews (even the big ones) and after having such a bad experience, I am starting to believe many (if not all) of the reviews are fake to make this place seem a whole lot better than it is. It is very possible that it is just the one stylist, but if it was a good salon, I don't know how they could hire someone so bad. It is not just a bad style- I really don't think she knew what she was doing. Save yourself the heartache and go some place else. more

I have been a customer Greg's since the beginning. I have followed him from the Downtown Lazarus store to Shalah's and now to the Laura Gregory Salon. I love the way you are treated at the Laura Gregory. Upon arrival, there is always a smiling face waiting to greet me at the door, to take my coat and offer me something to drink. All the stylist know me by name and treat me well. I am a regular client of Greg's but if I am not able to get in with him, I am confident that any one of the other stylist can do the job. Rachel does a great job on my hair every time. She seems to be able to make my hair look exactly the way I describe it to her when I come in the door. Not only that but Rachel is a great person to spend time with at the Salon. Cons: Nothing more

I love the hair cut Andi gave me. I was apprehensive about going short, but she gave me a wonderful style and now I wonder why I waited so long!! She's fantastic!! Pros: One of the best and quickest haircuts I've ever had. more

I was not impressed - I tried Lynn twice and each time I was very disappointed. I asked for color with highlights and I turned into a 'bleached freak' - I returned within the week to have her 'fix' - not much better but I was going out of town. I let it grow out and returned asking to 'just cover the gray' - again she 'foiled' and much to my dismay again I turned into a 'bleached freak' - I asked right then and there (4 hours later) to fix - she put a toner on but now the color is 4 different shades and I don't know where to go to get it fix. I don't want to return and spend another $150 and 4-6 hours sitting waiting for somebody to figure out what they are suppose to do. And, the cut/style sucked - I don't think she knows what a 'style' is - anyway sorry for blabbing - just very disappointed and BROKE! Pros: friendly environment Cons: parking more

I have been a customer of the Laura Gregory Salon since it's existence and followed them from their days at the Downtown Lazarus. I have gone to other salons and have not ever been treated the way I am at the Laura Gregory. Upon arrival, there is always a smiling face waiting to greet me at the door, to take my coat and offer me something to drink. All the stylist know me by name and treat me with dignity and respect from the moment I walk in. I am a regular client of Greg's but if I am not able to get in with him, I am confident that any one of the other stylist can step up and fill his shoes. They all are so friendly and up-to-date on their styling techniques and products. I have never gotten bad service or never not like my hair when I leave the salon. Not impressed with my haircut, even though Lynn was very kind and asked me what I wanted, when she said she didn't know yet how to 'do bangs', that left me afraid. Also, I've never had anyone use the 'cool' setting and a regular hairbrush to dry my wavy hair. Even though everyone was really nice, it's the cut that matters. I'd rather have an unfriendly stylist cut my hair and me leave happy with my new 'do. I won't be going back. I think I will try Akada up the hill.
