Must be a different restaurant 6/25/2011

I dont understand what restaurant they are talking about. I eat there a couple times a month and recently went for fathers day the staff was extremely courteous and professional the food was excellent I swear the prime rib just keeps getting better at $14.95 for a 24 oz I,m not sure how they can afford it. The restaurant is dated and the carpet needs to be replaced thats for sure but they seem to be updating the place. I would rather have good food at a reasonable price prepared by a chef in an older establishment than eat overpriced bland frozen food prepared by a teenager in a sparkling brand new place anyday. Everytime I eat there they will prepare the food the way i want it, when I try to ask for something special at most places the teenage waitresses stare at me with blank expressions when i do it there the chef always obliges where else can you say that about. I don't understand where your eating at but it is not the same place I am. more

Horrible and DIRTY 9/28/2010

The food is horrible, the service is horrible and everyone there has an attitude. The carpet in the dining room is dirty and stained. The plates at the salad bar are dirty. I will never eat there again! more

over charged 9/24/2008

I have a bill from 9/13/08 and our waiter JACQUELI--who was a horrible hostess. Never came back to check on us to see if we were ok and the food she bought out to us was cold!!! We always have a great meal there and Rich who usually waits on us--is outstanding!! Jacqueli charged us extra for our shrimp--instead of it being included in the meal, even bought it out seperatly and not with our meal. I have my receipt of what she did.By the way your macaroni salad is out of this world.Cell# (908)283-0511 Brenda more

rancid meat and bad management team 2/24/2008

After 25 years of going to Studebaker's on our yearly Family vacation, We now have to remove them from our list of Must do's! Our recent experience over the President's Weekend there was to say the least unacceptable behavior for a business! My husband ordered the Mushroom Burger Platter and I ordered the Cheeseburger Wrap. In getting our order I noticed the meat looked a little off color, greyish. In taking a bite I knew immediately that the meat was bad. My husband took his first bite and thought the mushrooms may be the problem, in removing them and taking another bite he too found the meat was bad. We called to our waiter, who was very applogetic and said he would advise the "chef" and did we want something else. We declined anything more. After a few minutes the waiter came back visible upset. He advised us that the "chef" yelled at him for even thinking of bringing the food back to the kitchen and that in his opinion the food was fine, and not to bother him as he was 45 minutes behind in service.. At that point I should have gone back to the kitchen and forced him to eat it! After the children finished with their meals we asked for our check, low and behold the returned items were still on the check. I advised our waiter, who said that the Supervisor would be the one to remove the charges. He went to him and I noticed that they seemed to be having "words". I walked over to see what the problem was and was a little taken back when the Supervisor advised me that the "chef" didn't think there was anything wrong our order. I advised this so called Supervisor that I work for a major company as the Customer Service Manager and this behavior was unacceptable for his business. He again advised me that the kitchen was behind in service and he would go back to talk to the "chef". I advised him that the bill needed to be adjusted and I would not wait any longer. After 10 minutes he removed the charges and made us feel as if we were in the wrong. Our waiter was advised he put his job on the line by returning the food! I could not believe what I was hearing! Studebaker's would rather fire a very good waiter and serve rancid food to their customers then to be backed up on their service!!! Word of advise to Mr. Anthony Syrocki: From one professional to another...without your customers you would not be in business! You may want to contact Chef Ramsey to educate your kitchen staff on food prep & service! We will not be back to your restaurant ever again! more

HoHum 8/8/2005

Locals regard this as one of the best in the area. I think not. Shortly after my relocation to the area from NYC, I had lunch here and I was not impressed. My crab cakes were crumbling, as was the hamburger that my teenager ordered. My mother's Caesar Salad was hohum (how can you mess up a salad?) and my brother's open faced sandwich was cold. Service was so so and for this I thought they were overpriced. more
