The Very Best Thai Food in Arizona 6/5/2005

Siam Orchid offers the authenticity of what Thai cooking is. The hostess gives warm welcomes and the service is impeccable. The hostess also provide great suggestions of not having different types of curries if the orders are to be shared. This is one of the best restaurants in town that everyone should try. I guarranteed once tried, there will be many returns. Pros: Authentic Thai Food, Great Service, Nice Ambience more

Outstanding 6/4/2005

We have been there 5 times (in a group of 5 and 6 and 3 times by ourselves). We have never been disappionted. This is not a fast food restaurant. The food is prepared and presented with love and pride. The name ""orchid"" is well deserved. The place is clean and the owner has done a great job in the choice of dishware and overall appearance. You won't be disappionted. If you visit them once, you'll surely go back. No, we am not related, but happy we found them. Pros: all positive more

Best family owned business in Gilbert 6/2/2005

The first time that I visited Siam Orchid, I knew this was the restaurant for me. I am a hugh Thai food fan, and Siam Orchid's Cashew Chicken is the best dish I have had at any Thai Restaurant. Their mini egg rolls are also the best I have ever had. Most importantly, the owners welcome me like I am family every time I am there. This is the best Thai Food in the East Valley. Pros: Warm people, Mini egg rolls, Background music Cons: No privacy more

Best Thai Food in East Valley 4/21/2005

My wife, whos from Thailand, determines the fate of each Thai restaurant we visit with her first mouthful of Phad Thaiif its not made with tamarind paste, were not going back. Were definitely going back to Siam Orchid. The appetizer plate of mini egg rolls is crispy, not too greasy, and beautifully presented with thin shavings of carrot on a bed of lettuce. The shrimp sauteed with basil and chilies is unfussy and boldly flavored. The Massaman curry is thick and tasty. But it would be better with a little fat rendered from coconut milk in which to saute the curry paste. And the potatoes were slightly undercooked. This aside, I finished the entire bowl and then mopped some rice in it to get every last bit of sauce. The decor is simple and cheerful, and the place is immaculate. The owner, who served us, is friendly and attentive. more

Picture Menus? 12/4/2004

Sometimes, I feel like I am 6 years old when I encounter a menu with pictures, but I recognize that for some people, Thai food is scary unless they can see a picture, so I get over it. In this case, the pictures are pretty appetizing and they accurately represent the food that is delivered to your table. The food quality is good and the restaurant is clean and the people are wonderful. I felt like sneezing because of all of the flowers in the restaurant, but my wife pointed out that they were silk, so maybe I am allergic to silk, or I got a piece of hot pepper stuck somewhere. In any case, although I have tasted more authentic Thai food, I think this is a good compromise, especially for those who might be overwhelmed by the blends of tastes and spices found in more authentic dishes. Pros: Well-Americanized more

I'll walk a mile... 9/27/2004

This restaurant is not near ANYTHING I ever go to, but three times, I have driven well out of my way to take someone here for lunch. The food quality is always fresh, the spices not overpowering, the decor simple. In a strip mall, you never know what you are going to get, but I found that the photographs of their dishes helped me select food I would enjoy, and made it easy for Thai newcommers to make selections that weren't too scary. Pros: Fresh quality foods, Photos on menu more

Mr. 6/12/2004

I love good Thai food. Number 24 on the Siam Orchid menu is a yellow curry dish called Musseman Curry. It is truly the nector of the gods. It cannot possibly be made any better. We love the owners who treat us like family. Choosy diners might wonder why they don't have many decorations or fancy wallpaper. They put all their love into the food and the personal attention to you the customer. We refuse to go anywhere else for our weekly ""Thai Fix"". Pros: Best Value, Best Owners, Best Location more

Great Thai 2/19/2004

Siam Orchid's food is great. Best Thai food since I lived in Seattle. This place has amazing soups and the curries are really great. Portions are just the right size. I took a friend there and he said that next to mainland Thai food this place had the best Thai he has had in the states. You will not be disapointed. If you are looking for great Thai food in the vally, this is the place to go. more
