MILWAUKEE TREASURE 10/22/2006

As a concert producer (think Bradley Center, Marcus Amphitheatre, US Cellular Arena, Twin Cities, Madison, Chicago, etc), I find Shank Hall to be an excellent and professionally run venue. With a better PA, lighting system, and backstage amenities than some venues more than twice it's size, Shank rates as one of the better venues in the country, for the artists AND the fans. The post by recordhigh stating that the Mad Planet and Cactus Club are better venues than Shank Hall is not true. They have their place in the musical chain of venues, don't get me wrong. Take it from a promoter, I have heard many praises about Shank Hall from fans and artists alike. Give Shank a try, see a National artist in a small room, and you be the judge. I guarantee you will leave with positive feelings about this lil gem of Milwaukee. Pros: Great production, artist friendly, great fan experience Cons: none more

Small and intimate 2/7/2003

Get here early because parking sucks. The best seats are at the tables along the far wall. But once you are there the place is perfect for a night of music where you can see the artists w/o binoculars... Pros: Cozy, Good artists Cons: parking, parking, parking more

  • The Scene
It may look small, but this low-lit club can accommodate several hundred patrons. Shank pays tribute to past acts with a crowded wall of framed photos. Even when there's no live music, a gander at this wall of fame will put faces to the region's favorite bands.

    The Draw
Shank Hall books all types of terrific talent, from New Orleans brass bands to Irish rockers. As a result, the place attracts an extremely diverse clientele. In true Milwaukee style, the bar is extremely well stocked. From beer to wine to chocolate martinis, this place has your thirst covered.
