What Happened 10/30/2010

My husband and I just got back from Nags Head. My husband had lived in OBX and Sam & Omie's was always a must when we visited. We were SO disappointed with the food and the service. Our breakfast sausage resembled shoe leather and didn't taste any better, and the biscuits reminded me of something I'd get from a microwave. My husband said the food looked like it was institutional food. Add to this the fact that it took us 25 minutes to get our food and it was just a bad experience all around. We prefer to remember Sam and Omie's the way it used to be, and will not be back. We did go to The Dunes and the food was fabulous, I would suggest this restaurant to anyone, you won't be disappointed there. more

It wouldn't be vacation without Sam and Ommi's. We go there every time we go to Nags Head, even if its just a day trip. The waitresses are the most pleasant of any restaurant we have ever been to. Once when we were there they were closing the next day for the winter and I mentioned that was my birthday and when we were leaving they gave me a Sam and Ommi's coffee cup for my birthday. The atmoshere, the food its all great. more

"It's so local" 3/20/2006

This restaurant is very near to a beach house where we stay in Nag's Head. Every time we go there, my relatives make comments about how "local" it is. This always amuses me because the place is so obviously frequented by tourists and "summer people" just like us. They have the typical seafood offerings, and a decent platter combination. Not much in the way of health food, but I wouldn't really expect it in this type of place anyway. The decor is mostly nautical, including a scary-looking portrait of a swordfish. Our server was friendly and chatty (perhaps the only "local" in the place!) and we didn't have to wait too long. more

A local restaurant 7/25/2005

I had been looking forward to trying Sam & Omies after reading a glowing review on them in a magazine. Unfortunately, after visiting Sam & Omies recently while on vacation, I do not have much positive to say about them. The restaurant and bar are very close in proximity which makes the restaurant loud & smoky too. The service was terrible. I think one waitress was working ALL the tables by herself. We waited over 10 minutes for the one & only drink refill we could get. The food was not very good for the $$$$ price. On a positive note, the wait time was short - 15-20 minutes & the she-crab soup FABULOUS! more
