It's Free! 9/30/2006

As we drove up the Atlantic coast on our way to see fall foliage, our van began having mechanical problems. We took it to the nearest Ford dealership, which was in Salisbury, Maryland. Since it was going to take all day for the van to get fixed, we went to the zoo while the work was being done. The Salisbury Zoological Park is a wonderful little zoo featuring animals from North, Central and South America. As far as zoos go, it doesn't have anything really exotic. There are a lot of birds, a few big cats, some monkeys and several other species. The grounds were pretty and well cared for. A lot of the park is along the shore of a lake, which makes it a peaceful setting. One of the best things about the park is that it's free. The zoo is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. I remember there were a lot of mothers with infants and preschool children who seemed to be enjoying the day. Although we were in Salisbury for an unpleasant reason (our van needed to be repaired), the Salisbury Zoo was a pleasant diversion. more

Salisbury Zoological Park 8/9/2005

I have been to many zoos in the US and I must say that the Salisbury Zoo is the best place to take children. Not only is admission free but it is just a wonderful place to go. my kids love the new Ben's red swings and I like that fact that it is free. Oldest Spectacled bear alive is there! So peaceful and remote. more

Over the last 30+ years I have seem the zoo grow and expand. It has made many wonderful additions to the animals as well as the facility. My grandkids love to go down there and feed the ducks and the new play area they built in memory of Ben is so wonderful. more

The Zoo is awesome 6/17/2005

I have been to many different places and it seems like this is the best zoo to take your kids too! Not only is it free but it is clean and there are many animals to see and they have a great play area called Ben's Red Swings. I highly reccommend this zoo and play area if you are comming to this town. It is defintely a treasure. more
