I would highly recommend Running Pond Acres to anyone looking for a lovely, well-maintained, fun and caring place out of the city to board your dog. When I moved to Portland five years ago, I needed a place to board my four year old 75lb. husky/lab ""Peri"" when I traveled. And since I travel a lot for my work, sometimes for months at a time, I had pretty high standards as huskies are prone to escape, need a lot of outdoor exercise, and are both people and dog lovers. Cement runs, daily walks, and limited supervison at night were NOT acceptable criteria for me. When a friend with two huskies suggested Running Pond Acres, I tried it out. It met all of my criteria and more. After 5 years, I still am a very loyal customer. Peri loves ""dog camp"" as I refer to and he continues to serve as my best indicator of how well he is or is not cared for. Each time we enter through the front gates, he is excited. He jumps out of the car, runs to the back door, tail wagging, and is ready to play with the staff. And each time I pick him up, he is healthy and happy, and I think sad to leave ""dog camp"" country. Even though I live in Portland, it is well worth taking Peri to Running Pond Acres! For those who know me, Peri is a huge part of my world and I can't think of a better group of people to care for him more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a ""Hotel for dogs"" so to speak. I was amazed at the care and concern that Running Pond Acres had put into their highly organized and loving dog boarding business. The personnel is especially wonderful w/ the way they love and care for their clientele. I went on a business trip, and when I returned my dog Imani said it all. WOOF! She was happy, and appeared to have fully enjoyed her stay. I went on another business trip recently, and knew exactly where Imani was going to be staying. When we walked in Imani started wagging her tail, and couldn't wait to play w/ the other doggies. (I almost got a tear in my eye, like she wasn't going to miss me) I cannot say enough about this doggie heaven. I LOVE RUNNING POND ACRES!? more

For more than a decade I entrusted the welfare of my siberian huskey Attika Czarina Kiev into your care and was never disappointed with the loving and compassionate attention received. Attikas enthusiasm, preceeding her visits, served as testament to the fun she enjoyed and her reluctance to leave new friends always reinforced the wisdom of my decision to maintain my long-standing relationship with Running Pond Acres. In keeping with past experience, my new huskey, Attika Czara Keelah, continues the tradition into a new decade; learning to swim; enjoying long hours of play; and forging great canine friendships in the process. Your operation is well run, your staff superb, and my peace of mind always intact. THANKS RUNNING POND ACRES FOR THIRTEEN YEARS OF EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!!? more

Best Place to Board Dogs 8/30/2010

Running Pond Acres is great! My dogs love it there. The staff is knowledgable and caring. The facilities are wonderful. Megan and Tawny can play all day long and then relax in their own private room at night. No Crates! Sometimes it seems like they don't want to leave. They fly out of the car when we arrive, and are in no hurry to leave. One time I was forced to leave them soon after Meg had knee surgery. I couldn't have done a better job myself taking care of her special needs. Thanks RPA for taking the stress and worry out of boarding my girls!? more

Great Place for Your Dogs 8/30/2010

We have taken our dogs (we currently have 2 blue heelers and 1 Lab mix) to Running Pond Acres many, many times (and once for a 3 week stay) since they first opened and have always appreciated the service and care they give our dogs, whom we consider our family members. All our dogs have been adopted from the humane society and each has it's own ?issues?, such as separation anxiety, loss of most of teeth due to periodontal disease (dog food must be soaked before serving), extremely arthritic hip requiring administering daily pain medication, reactivity to other dogs, etc. Two of our dogs do not get along with each other, so they must stay in separate areas (just like at home). We have been pleased with how RPA treats our dog's individual personalities to give each what he/she needs to be happy while we're away. Our social dogs get to play with other social dogs. Dogs that are not as social get their desired peace. We have never had to worry or be concerned about our dogs when they are at RPA and it is the only boarding kennel we would leave our dogs at. The dogs are so excited when we pull into the gate at RPA and when we bring them home, they need a couple days to rest up from all the activity they've had! You definitely get what you pay for at RPA and we highly recommend it more

Deluxe dog resort 4/27/2010

My boyfriend and I wanted to go on vacation in hawaii, but our lovely dog could not go with us. I spent weeks looking for a great dog kennel, with no results. Most places i found where concrete holding pens with no outdoor access. A friend of ours recommended after having his dogs stay there. When i checked out the website i was blown away the facilities where amazing. Each dog has their own suite, with fluffy bed heating and air conditioning and access to go outside whenever they want. The day we took Sadie(our pup) to the kennel changed her life. When we arrived there where horses grazing in the front that where well cared for. As soon as we parked we where greeted and Sadie was taken away. They assured us it was easier to introduce her to the group without the owners, and picked which dogs play with each other. They will feed your dog their own food not some cheap brand, it is better for their tummies. A week later we came back to pick up Sadie and got a surprise. Usually she jumps and wiggles for joy when we are gone for a few hours. This time she just looked at us and said 'oh your back, do I have to go?'. Though we did take her home, to her disappointment, we went to go take a walk and she just went to sleep. For THREE DAYS my hyper active pup just laid on the couch and slept. Next time maybe I will take a vacation at this place! Any dog would be great here it is a resort for any dog!!! Pros: great family business more

Not good for medicated dogs 8/23/2007

This is a beautiful dog care facility, and I have been taking my dogs there for many years now. However, over the last year there has been personnel changes and the quality has decreased. My dogs will no longer be staying there. It is fine if your dogs do not require medication. However, if they do, you should that there have been incidents where medication was given to the wrong dog and where the medication was not given correctly (despite the written and reviewed instructions). So, board at your own risk. more
