my visit to rio grande was as always. excellent. great food smiling faces and cold beer. I make my visit 3 times a week and my friends that I bring along have also become regulars...

Worst

Although the restaurant was clearly not terribly busy, we were denied a booth seat after requesting one. The one booth that had been open at the time we requested it was left open...

My husband and I come here often and it is a great place. The food is always hot and tasty. The waitstaff is very attentive and conversate with customers and make you feel welcomed. Pros: very attentive waiters (waitress) more

Rio Grande - Family Atmosphere 5/2/2010

Always greeted with a smile and hello. A great place to go on a warm day if you just want to sit down and relax with a cold margarita and munch on some chips. Big fan of the burrito plate. Perfect size to fill you up until the next meal. They also have space available to accommodate small banquets for birthdays or even wedding showers. nasty fish tacos 3/21/2010

Me and my wife tried this place off of a recommendation. My wife ordered the fish tacos. She asked me to taste them because they tasted funny. They tasted like freezer burnt fish and cigarettes. I complained to the waiter and told him they tatsed frozen and like cigarettes. He shrugged his shoulders and said you dont expect us to have fresh fish do you. I could not believe this horrible horrible horrible. Pros: Nothing Cons: rude service, fish tacos more

I live just down the street from Rio Grande and I usually get my order to go. I have had a variety of dishes from their menu and they are all excellent. Their salsa is a bit warm for me (I'm a whimp when it comes to hot sauce though) but it is very tasty. I highly recommend their fajitas. more

Great 1st Stop 12/9/2008

I've been to the Rio several times in the last 2 years. I stop by for cheap snacks during Happy Hour or before a long night of bouncing around bars. Pros: Great 1st stop and tasty happy hour eats. Cons: I prefer my ritas in a pint glass---less likely to spill. more

GREAT FOOD, SERVICE AND MARGARITAS!!! 11/19/2008

This place has some of the best salsa I have ever had! not to mention those award winning margaritas. Every time I go here I am quickly greeted with chips, salsa and a server to get my drink order. The wait is never very long for my food, and is always hot and delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone! Pros: great food and service Cons: have not come across any yet! more

The best CARNE ASADA anywhere!!!!! 9/29/2008

This restaurant is great! The Grande Margaritas are very good. The service is excellent. Hosts are very attentive and fun. I go every weekend to have the Carne Asada. It is the most tasty, mouth watering, flavorful, meat I have ever tasted. It arrives at your table sizzling! Tortillas are served with it as well as your favorite type of beans and rice, with sour cream and guacamole. The prices are very reasonable. I really feel like it is my neghborhood restaurant with a family type feel. Go and try it! Their menu has a wide selection of really great food! more

bad customer service, do not cater to parties over 4 people & all must be there at the same time, before seated. 9/3/2008

we have a group that shows up on a regular basis, well we did not have 2 of our 13 people arrive at the same time we did, so they would not seat us - the manager would not seat us until the complete party was there.. Pros: great food & drinks Cons: bummer service - especially from the owner. more

Poor Customer Service/Descent Food 8/11/2007

Although the restaurant was clearly not terribly busy, we were denied a booth seat after requesting one. The one booth that had been open at the time we requested it was left open throughout our meal. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to have a seat where we would have been most comfortable. After ordering a Coke, I was brought a Pepsi without being told the restaurant doesn't serve Coke products. Also that would have been fine if they had just said something so I would expect what I got. Our waiter only came to check on us once throughout our entire meal (minus taking our order and our check). All in all, bad service. The chips and salsa were good, but the food I ordered was not the best. The fajitas that my boyfriend ordered were quite tasty though. Pros: Good drinks and appetizers. Cons: Bad service. more

Great food, drinks and atmosphere 7/24/2007

Like another review we went here not expecting much, just looking for a local Mexican restaurant that was close to the house. What we got was much more! Great food, Mexican martinis are great (and generous) and the new Hutto location has patio seating which is very nice with the warm nights. Service can be a little slow (but that leaves time for another round of drinks) and the salsa could be pepped up a little bit but overall one of the better Mexican food places around. We have gone back regularly since finding this place! Pros: Great food, drinks and patio Cons: Slower than average service, salsa is a little bland more

Yummy food, lots of choices 1/1/2007

We went here Saturday night expecting nothing special, but it was great. The booths are deffinately cool and they have tvs positioned for game watching. It's not mexican food, but it is really really good tex mex. I ordered the chicken enchiladas thinking that was really safe, but my boyfriend ordered a skewer of beef, chicken and jalapeno sausage. HIs was served on a sizzling skillet over a bed of onions, green chili peppers and green bell peppers, in between all the meats were veggies like squash and tomatoes. The chips and salsa were not very good, but not the worst I've had. We were seated pretty quickly and our order didn't take too long. I wish they served breakfast later though I can't wait to tey their Ranchero sauce! Pros: Quick Seating, Lots of menu choices, Yummy food Cons: Peas in the rice, Thick chips and average salsa more

Finally found the best Mexican Martinis and more! 3/28/2006

Tired of looking for a restaurant that will serve you a Mexican Martini that you can REALLY enjoy?!? Look no further. The martinis are served in LARGE shakers filled to the brim with the good stuff- not just ice. The food is EXCELLENT too. Have yet to order a dish that I didnt like. I highly recommend the Carne Gratinada. This place is GREAT for kids too. Kid's menu has lots to choose from that even the pickiest eater would enjoy. Pros: Inexpensive, variety of dishes, Very Friendly Cons: Closes at 9pm, small waiting area more
