Don't sign up - really! 7/20/2010

I have always used low-price fitness companies and was always satisfied but here are the reasons for NOT signing up here (I am a member until my contracts ends):\r 1. They have to few training facilities\r 2. They don't have free barbells at all\r 3. They need ages to repair a broken equipment (WEEKS!)\r 4. If you for once forget your training shoes and want to use sandals exceptionally you get kicked out from the gym even when you try to explain the situation and another trainer has agreed already.\r 5. Opening times are bad in my opinion.\r \r Believe me I have long experience with low-budget training but never had that experiences. more

Planet Fitness is WORSE 4/28/2008

Planet Fitness took over Ultimate Fitness recently and the only thing that has changed is the prices----they've doubled. Oh, yeah and the staff. They are dumber than dirt. It seems that they've spent too much time in the tanning booths and not enough learning how to read. Don't waste your money. Just invest in your own treadmill and some free weights. more

Rude Staff! 2/16/2008

I have had gym memberships for 12 yrs. now, work out everyday at various locations & have been an intermediate athlete for years. Basically I do what I have to, to stay in good shape & get out. The gym equipment is decent here but the staff & cleanliness leave a lot to be desired! As far as "Tammy" goes, she walks around like she's all that & if your in good shape she is extremely rude and won't give you the time of day! No way for an owner to act! more

i have owned health clubs in a previous life. i am a member at this club and find it a great place. close to 3000 members and a couple have billing problems. two sides to every story. i have been on the other end, the customer is not always right. club is clean, staff always around and for the most part helpful. great hours and some of the trainers are great especially the women tammy. high energy and very motivated. overall a very friendly place. more

love the club, great hours and great staff. always available and helpful. the club is always being cleaned, i notice that at all times. trainers are serious and professional, especially women trainer who's name is tammy and 3 kids and mid 40's. she is very dedicated and clients love her. recommend the club highly. been a member for 2 plus years. keep it going because i love coming more

Terrible! 1/11/2008

I am glad I am not the only person being taken by ultimate fitness. I cancelled my membership over 4 times before finally getting it cancelled. This process went over 6 months with empty promises of cancellation. On top of it all I got hung up on by the MANAGER. Great service! I dont live in the state anymore but have two friends with the same experience trying to cancel their memberships. There are so many ethical gyms with friendly service that I wouldnt waste my time here! more

DO not go here! 1/11/2008

I have reported this gym to the B B B because of its unethical business practices. I have been trying to cancel my membership for over 6 months. I have send letters...faxes and spoke with so called managers...who by the way hung up on me! I have been told several times by this manager that it was cancelled only to receive more bills. When calling once again to rectify the situation I was hung up on. I see now by reading reviews that apparently I am not the only one. It is a shame that they conduct business like this. Unfortunately it forces customers like myself to get legal representation. I dont know who the owner is but I am sure he would be outraged at the lack of customer service provided by his so called ""managers"". Do not go here, there are so many ethical gyms that wont try to screw you. more

stolen money from checking account 12/15/2007

i cancelled my membership because the gym sucked and they have been taking the money out of my checking account ever since. i have called and went there everyday for three weeks and have not recieved one phonecall from the owner. he seems to never have to be there. i guess i am screwed! maybe he will show up at court when i take him there for restitution. do not go to this gym. if you decide to certainly do not permit them access to your accounts because they will never stop taking it. also, a girl i know suspects she caught MRSA there and due to their unsanitary conditions, guess we cant prove that either without an owner!! more

Decent 11/28/2007

I go to this place because its close to my workplace and because they have tanning and a mini basketball court, besides that there isn't much that this gym can offer. The treadmills break down and don't get fixed for weeks, the overall size of the gym is minuscule, and their mens locker room is absolutely disgusting. I would recommend this gym to anyone that likes filth or meat-heads, otherwise you'd be better off buying the Chuck Norris Ultimate Fitness Machine (or whatever its called). more

Ultimate Rudeness 11/16/2007

This club is nice inside, but that's where it ends...most of the management staff, as well as the "owner" are extremely rude. I cancelled my membership three months ago, and I've been billed for September, October, and this month! I've called and talked to the "general managers" to kindly ask if I can be reimbursed, who have apparently no idea how to issue credits: only the "owner" can do it. I quote the word owner, because no one knows who this person is...there is no voicemail for he or she...no contact info!!! I am owed over $60 and I want my $ back!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM...choose another place!! more

Unbelievable inconvenience!!! 11/7/2007

We were members of this gym for about a year, and cancelled our membership because we were moving out of state. We signed papers twice to end our membership which were "lost" both times, resulting in our having to pay for 3 extra months. When we finally were able to end our membership from our new out-of-state address, we started to get letters from collection agencies for subsequent months. Now no one knows anything about it, and they have been anything but helpful at the gym. They say it will be taken care of every time we call, but we're still getting letters 6 months later. DO NOT join this gym unless you want to pay for the membership for the rest of your life. more

This gym has deteriorated 11/1/2007

I have been a member of this gym on and off for 4 years. In the past year it's really gone downhill. My complementary personal training session which was scheduled for an hour lasted all of 20 minutes, machines stay broken for weeks, the class schedule has thinned out and automatic billing errors occur which take months to correct. Big hassle....I'm canceling this membership - too many other good gyms out there to waste my time here. more

This is a nice place however, watch out for their trainers, especially Jackson - he has every one pre-pay for as many sessions as possible and takes off with the money. I'm personally out a grand for sessions for myself and one of my kids. He's no where to be found. I hear this is a pattern of his - he's a con artist. more

Great place to get fit - in a relaxed yet supportive and driven enviroment 7/3/2007

Although not as glamourous as spa gyms like Bally's or NY Sports Club or Equinox, Ultimate Fitness has trainers that have made a difference, equipment that is seldom not functioning, and clean locker rooms. The employees are always willing to help. Getting time on the cardio equipment has been a problem when I belonged to 'spa gyms', but I ALWAYS am able to get on the cardio equipment here with a minimal amount of time waiting. Any 'sour grape' comments about this gym, or its staff are most likely from people who have not been working out most of their lives or go to a gym to be seen with the beautiful people that are often only found at a spa gym and then want that same atmosphere at a sweat and work out gym price. Pros: Great hours. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Easy to get on the equipment when I wanted too. Clean. Cons: not near my house - but is near my office. wish I lived closer. more

DON""T DO IT!!!! 5/15/2007

I canceled my membership (with a written notice, a copy of my license showing I moved out of state, and my membership card all by mail just like it said to do in the contract) literally 5 MONTHS AGO and these people are still charging my credit card!!! I know they are a small business with only two locations, but HELLO you think they would make sure there customers were taken care of considering I may move back there in the future... I noticed another review that said the same thing. Anyways, this gym is small, cramped, and just depressing. They even charge you for all the classes.. are you kidding me? And for the record I'm not one of those girls who complains about everything, I just don't want to pay for something I'm not using. I don't think anyone would want to... more

Large selection of Exercise Equiptment 11/27/2005

I have been a member of this club for the past 3 years and have yet to be disappointed. Great hours opening up at 5:00 during the week and 7:00 on the weekends. Great selection of free weights and a very large selection of exercise equiptment. I have come early in the morning to afternoon on my lunch break and at night after work and always find that I don't need to wait for machines. They are open all week and the staff is very helpful. I will continue to renew my membership yearly. more

My advice: Do not join Ultimate Fitness 9/12/2005

I was a member of Ultimate Fitness for eight months or so and then moved. Since I moved almost two months ago they have refused to cancel my membership even though I have provided all the paperwork they have required. In dealing with them since they have hung up on me, refused to cancel the membership (the GM said he cannot cancel memberships and only the owner can and refuses to put me in contact with him), not returned phone calls and have basically ignored every request I put in. They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with are rude and unhelpful and I strongly advise against joining. Cons: Customer Service more
