service good, drink was not 11/6/2011

Really good service is a feature here, but a simple mixed drink was really bad. It seemed it was watered down with low quality and served in a water glass. We expect to have a special time when we pay this price for a meal ($41.00 for surf and turf). The drink ruined it for us. more

Great Food 6/18/2011

I have always enjoyed going to the Pit Stop. The Steaks are great and come out sizzling. My husband always asks to go there for Birthday and special days. We are taking him there for Father's Day. The serving staff are young people and are very friendly. The relaxed feeling of the place is something we enjoy. I rate this place very high as my kid's enjoy the kids menu also. more

Good food, OK Service 4/4/2009

We had committed to meeting friends and after reading the negative reviews, I was bracing for lousy service. We had reservations for 9. The big guy greeted us and seated us. He was good natured. Waitress was fine. The wait for food was about an hour. Steaks were absolutely great. Pricing reasonable. 8-10 oz filet mignon $25 and most steaks were in upper teens. They also serve surf and turf and seafood though none of us tried the seafood -- can't rate that. Saw two tables get birthday cakes. Seating is a bit cramped and it's noisy -- it's basically a few large rooms with tables so it's a country setting. Seems like they're trying to improve the appearance with nice flowery garland. Food is good and I would go back again. Pros: Steaks were good. Cons: We waited 1 hr for food but service was not rude more

RESERVATIONS WONT HELP!!!!! 2/10/2009

What a disapointment!!!! NEVER AGAIN!! I had made reservations on a Friday for Saturday at 6:30 pm for my husbands birthday dinner. I asked about a cake when I called and was told to tell the person behind the bar when we arrived since they are frozen. What ever that meant? I assumed ice cream cake. There were 5 of us total. When we arrived we could not get a parking spot because of how small the place was. You could not move once you were inside the door. How unorganized it felt. Everyone was stressed!!! People were complaining. I thought we would be safe since we had reservations.HAHA was i wrong! I told the man my name and said we had reservations for 6:30. He was sooooo rude!!!! I understand they were stressed but it was not ""MY"" fault. He had such a bad attitude. He acted like we walked in off the street and demanded a seat. He said that it was going to be awhile. I said to him again that I made reservations yesterday for 6:30 tonight. Then he said so did alot of other people. Your just going to have to wait. He said to talk to the manager ( very nasty ) and then walked away. We stood there for a few minutes in shock while everyone was zipping by. They ignored us like we did something wrong. We were shocked on how we were treated. Well, needless to say it ruined my husbands birthday because not only did we not have cake but we could not get in to another restaurant on a Saturday night till 8pm so my daughter had to go home because she had a babysitter. We exchanged gifts in the parking lot. How sad was that!!!! I will NEVER EVER recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!!!!!!!! more

Decent food.....VERY unfriendly service! 4/17/2008

Decor is a bit back country but so long as you don't mind that sort of thing it's tolerable. Of course, so long as a restaurant doesn't come across as being gross then what it all boils down to is food and service. \r \r 'The food here is decent but sadly the service is seriously lacking. My wife and I tried this place twice. Both times there were other patrons but it wasn't terribly busy. On our first time at the restaurant shortly after we were seated our waitress was replaced by a tall, heavyset man who was less than cordial. In fact he seemed down right bothered to be having to wait on us. We had no idea what happened to our waitress but gave the place the benefit of the doubt. \r \r The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes so we decided to give the place another try a few months later and this time took another couple with us. Strangely enough, the same scenario played out. After our drink orders were taken our friendly, smiling waitress was replaced by the same man as our first visit. He was even less friendly the second time around. Very curt and with a look on his face that said ""I hate my life"" or ""I hate serving you"" or something to that effect. That was enough for us. We haven't been back since. I heard from someone I know that has been there before that based on my description they're pretty sure that the man in question is the owner. Go figure!?! Pros: Steaks are large and juicy. Cons: With unfriendly service and decor of a 1970's West Virginia bar, steaks are all it has going for it more

Pit Stop Tavern 11/4/2007

Very disappointing. Don't go on Saturday nights, we waited 3 hours before we were served our meal. We waited one hour and 15 minutes to be seated and then we waited another hour and 45 minutes at the table for our meal..We observed others seated around us going through the same thing. We would not have stayed but we had a gift certificate given to us to spend. Our french fries were undercooked, probably from them being in a hurry to get people served. Incredible that it can take one hour and 45 minutes to make a steak burger. After our food was served the waitress did tell us that they were going to make one of our meals free since we had to wait so long. Well when we checked out it didn't happen. The cashier said they were taking it off of the bill, perhaps they changed their mind when they saw the gift certificate. When he told us the total it did not seem right, so when I got home and added it up sure enough there was no free anything. I don't think we will be going back there any time soon, like maybe never. Cons: Long wait, food under cooked. more

Pit Stop 7/15/2003

If you want a steak, you've got the place. The biggest steaks for less price. You get great service because your table is not subjected to one waiter/waitress - everyone pitches in. The owner comes out and directly takes your order and everything comes out sizzling and correct. Pros: Inexpensive more
