Ladies, do yourself a favor, read reviews about Papers & Petals carefully before going to this store. I didn't, and paid for it through my nose! I went to Burlingame all the way from Dublin (a mistake I'll never make again!) What a waist of time! The staff there did not seem to give a dead rat's tail about me as a customer or my upcoming wedding. I don't know if my budget was too "small" for them and they lost interest in me when they found out that I wasn't going to buy a $1500 dress or what, but they simply walked by me like I wasn't even there. Buying the dress is supposed to be a major deal not a major disappointment. I am taking my business else where, thank goodness there are other bridal stores in Bay Area! more

They almost ruined my day :( 1/27/2011

I was excited - it was THE day to shop for my dress. The second store I went to that day was Papers & Petals in Burlingame. I was in a great mood until... The woman that "greeted" me was obviously frustrated with someone else and did not even bother to hide it with me. She said that I had to wait for the fitting room, which was fine because I was a walk-in. But pretty soon I realized that no one even remembered (or cared) that I was there anymore. When I asked for some assistance again, I was told (kind of rudely) that still no one was available to help me. I spent so much time waiting there just to be told that no one could help me? I can't speak for any other bride-to-be, but I did not appreciate this kind of service. I left and never even want to hear about that little shop again! more

With this kind of service, I wonder how they still remain in business, but based on most of these reviews here, not for long though. I have also had pretty painful experience trying to shop at P&P. I don't know if someone spoiled the woman's mood before I came or what but she was rude as hell. So rude, in fact, that I just decided to leave the store. I finished my shopping at another bridal store. more

I wish the Better Business Bureau would send a "secret shopper" to this store to witness how rude the staff (and the owner) is to the customer, especially if you decide not to buy from them at this time. The BBB would definitely shut this business down the very next day. more

Terrible! Just terrible! I walked in to the store without an appointment, which apparently equals to breaking and entering to those people, because I was literally asked to leave the store and not come back unless I have an appointment even though there almost weren't any customers in the store at the time! Who the heck do they think they are?! more

Papers & Petals, in Burlingame, CA was THE worst customer experience I've ever had in my life! Rude, incompetent, staff - especially the owner... Georgette(?) - seemed annoyed by my every word. Finally, after a few minutes she seemed to have lost any interest in me as a customer and started to simply ignore me all together to the point where my fiancee asked me if I wanted him to kick her ass all over the place for being so disrespectful to me. Ladies, do yourself a favor and don't let those people ruin your mood! Stay away from that store!!! more

unprofessional and unreliable 6/24/2008

A tragic experience was had at this shop by 3 bridesmaids and the mother of the groom. Inquiries about dress arrival dates were rarely returned. Little to no effort was made by the shop to keep the customers informed, even those who had paid in full. Also, dresses were not "ready" until after close of business on the day before the wedding due to an alleged delivery mix-up. While the Antioch staff is kind and friendly, there was little done to appease the anxiety caused by such late service. If you must, go ahead and order your dresses from here, but by all means, have your alterations done elsewhere or you might find yourself wondering if you'll have to wear something from the back of your closet on the Big Day. more

DON'T GET SUCKED IN! 1/17/2007

Horrible experience there!! DON'T get sucked in by initial niceties! Ordered my wedding dress 1/06 - at the time was unsure whether or not I wanted to add buttons down the back or lower the back to an angle. When I went in for 1st fitting (May?) all was well and I told them I wasn't interested in the other alterations. At the 2nd fitting, I went to pay and there was a $100 charge for ordering buttons!!! I NEVER told anyone to order $100 buttons and had never even seen buttons! Owner was snotty about it. No apology - simply: "The buttons were ordered - you'll have to pay." As if they couldn't have made a mistake-it was my problem. We were in a rush so had to leave. Called back the next day and was told by the 'snotty' owner again (after arguing with me) that I had to deal with original sales assoc. When I did (the next day) she said that since there was a misunderstanding, they usually charge $125 to press the dress - she would simply not charge me to press it. I said OK. Only after I got off the phone did I realize pressing was a ridiculous charge that most salons do for free. Didn't want to make more ruckus since they still had my dress. At same time, my cousin had ordered wedding & bridesmaid dresses through P&P (and had her own separate set of problems with them). I waited 'til my cousin got her dress & found they never charged her for pressing. THE LIARS - THEY DON'T CHARGE FOR THIS! After picking up my dress, I tried to address this lying and inconsistency and get my $100 back and was met with a ridiculous amount of rudeness. I couldn't believe it. They refused to credit me the $100. After trying to fight it in numerous ways, I'm still out $100 and I've never even SEEN the buttons I was charged for! UNREAL - they shouldn't be in business. Stay far, far away. They have a new store in East Bay (Concord?). Same staff - stay away. more

Stay away from this store -- horrible management! 10/18/2006

I was recently in a friend's wedding and he had us get tuxes through this place. Their rates were double the price of other shops, three days late in arriving, and then they couldn't have been more rude when taking them back. Horrible, horrible customer service. They were so rude to my wife that I sent a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau! more

This is one of the worst bridal stores that I have ever visited. They do offer a wide selection of wedding dresses, but that is the only good thing about this store. The bridesmaid dresses are awful. Everything is so overpriced that it is ridiculous. But the worst part is the customer services. The owner of the store is the most pretentious, snobby and rudest person I have ever met. She barely helped me with anything and always told me I looked fabulous. She dismissed all of my questions and was offended when I did not want to purchase anything. Worst place for a bridal experience. I would give it zero stars if I could more

Horrible experience 7/27/2005

This is one of the worst bridal experiences ever. I took an appointment with one of the sales people (which happenes to be a mon and daughter store). She was 25 minutes late in helping me, which I can sometimes understand. But then she was also helping another client with me and gave her all teh attention. her daughter came to help me a bit but she was busy with her newborn baby. She was changing its diaper right on the counter!!!! disgusting. I had to hang up ost of the dresses by myself. Then the owner got really mad when none of the dresses interested me. She wanted me to buy something right then. I felt very uncomfotable. And she was very rude. Her prices were also at least 500 dollars more than most stores. This was one of the worst experienes of my life. I would not recommend this bridal store unless you want torture. more
