My first visit to Carmel and I had a few minutes to pop in a few stores. The door at Paloosh was locked 10 minutes before the store's closing time. Then, when a customer inside ...

Amazing People gorgeous clothes 3/6/2009

i am a Carmel local and was just in Paloosh today. I personally LOVE the store and the people who work there. They can help you find almost anything to go with the items you have already chosen. For example today I was trying on a pair of Juicy Couture pant, unfortunately they were out of the matching jacket but 2 saleswoman and the owner helped me find an adorable Vince sweater and two tank tops that look amazing with the pants. They even helped my Grandmother find a gorgeous cashmere sweater that she will wear all the time! The clothes are always the latest and being a teen i adore the clothing items there. All in all if you are ever in Carmel and looking for a great pair of jeans or even a fabulous track suit stop in at Paloosh! Pros: The latest up to date fashions, amazing friendly helpful saleswomen/men, good music, great location Cons: pricey more

Always enjoy this store 12/20/2008

I am from out of town, which would be painfully obvious to the onlooker because frankly, I have no sense of style and my favorite thing to do is go hiking and skiing, not shopping. However, I have always loved the clothes in Paloosh. Not because I can afford it (as a nursing student I have no money!) but because the styles are ones I could envision myself in. They always seem up to date and in tune with the latest styles, and whenever I am in that store I wish I could have my stylish younger sister dress me! So, despite the fact that I am an out of towner, non-stylish in my running shoes and jeans, I still get treated with a lot of respect and many smiles. My favorite perfume, Be, is from there! Unfortunately, last time I was there they did not have many things I was interested in (such as a Lacoste baseball cap.. my dog chewed up my other one). Regardless of that, I will always venture into that store hoping to leave with an item that I know i'll get great use out of! Pros: Very cute environment, always treated with respect Cons: Too expensive for me! more

DITTO ON THE HORRIBLE ETHICS 11/15/2008

I DECIDED TO WRITE A REVIEW AFTER SEEING THE ONE FROM MEL26 REGARDING "HORRIBLE ETHICS". I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. PALOOSH NEVER PUTS CURRENT MERCHANDISE ON SALE EVEN WHEN IT'S CONCURRENTLY OFFERED AT 40% OFF OR MORE AT NIEMAN'S. THE STUFF SITS AROUND SEASON AFTER SEASON UNSOLD AND THEN BEGRUDGINGLY IT IS PUT ON SALE WITH ALL KINDS OF DEFECTS. THE STAFF BOUNCES BACK AND FORTH FROM PUSHY TO DOWN RIGHT RUDE AND THE STORE IS SO PACKED FROM FLOOR TO CEILING THAT ONE CAN BARELY BREATHE. I DO NOT AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE FOR A PLEASANT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. MAYBE COMPETITION FROM THE NEW NORDSTROM WILL INDUCED SOME POSITIVE CHANGES FOR PALOOSH. more

Horrible ethics 10/1/2008

I purchased a Juicy tracksuit at Paloosh on sale. I was told AFTER I purchase the suit that it was a final sale. There was no sign indicating this policy either. No problem, loved the suit and the fit. Wore the suit a couple days later and found holes in the bottom of the front pockets. I called Paloosh about the damaged pants to see how they could help me out. I was told that everything on sale is on sale because it is already damaged or "off" somehow. This was not told to me in the store or else I probably would have paid more for a tracksuit that wasn't "off". Oh well, their loss. I was also told to take the pants to the cleaner and pay to have them fixed myself. Maybe it's just me but most stores, in Carmel especially, usually help out with the cost of alterations or repairs on new items. Needlees to say I'm frustrated, but I am a local with many friends who will know about this issue and be encouraged not to shop a Paloosh. I know I never will! more

Super cute....with a small downside. 8/30/2008

Paloosh has always been one of the reasons I love coming to Carmel! The clothes are always so adorable and you can't help but stay in there for EVER looking at everything that's available and trying it ALL on! However, the boutique's employees often come across as very snootie, which tends to ruin the experience a bit. I recently visited the store, and the workers were nicer than the last visit, but they definitely still need some work. If you're looking for fabulous clothes and accessories, head over there asap; but be prepared for a big lack in the customer-service area. Pros: Cute clothes and accessories Cons: Bad customer service more

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE 11/14/2007

i LOVE this store i live in carmel and its always there to help me find cute party dress or gifts for friends the staff is always very friendly if your a regular or not. i felt like i was at home the moment i walked in the store. my shopping experiance opened with the hottest guy EVER opening the door for me and as i browsed through the racks a pleasent young lady came up to me asking if i was finding everything ok. i trie don a dress and the same girl offered it in a size smaller and told me they also had it in other colors. then she rang me up at the regester with the best customer service. so to you scsurfer obviously your not a "regular" at paloosh if you got unpleasnt service, or maybe you came off "rude and snobby. " sorry honey but i think you got the wrong impression and you should go back and give them a second chance. the little sign is there so sales accosiates know if people are shop lifting or not. and also so they dont have to clean up after people like you who mess everything up because let me guess, they get paid to do it? more

Great designer clothing but snobby and rude sales staff 8/13/2007

I live in the area, and my friends and I can always count on Paloosh to have something super cute, unique and stylish! They carry the latest designer clothing, such as Juicy Couture, Michael Stars, Lacoste, Diane Von Furstenberg and many more designers!! If you are looking for up to date fashions, Paloosh is the store for you!! A downside to shopping at Paloosh if you're not a regular is that the sales staff comes across as rude, not helpful and snobby. I've learned to ignore the pushy young women that work there... they're usually too busy chatting to help you find something that fits. They also get really annoyed when you go through their stacks of t-shirts and you didn't ask for assistance like the little sign says too... but come on, I'm not stupid, I can find my size and if I make a mess they'll just have to re-organize everything!! haha Pros: latest designer clothing Cons: pushy sales staff and returns are only for store credit (be careful what you buy!!) more

Dream Store! 7/1/2007

I LOVED this store. Actually, both GBG as well as Paloosh. I was blown away by the careful selection of UBER trendy clothes that are so diverse and upscale. When i'm sure that i'm thin enough, i'm going to spend a weekend in Carmel JUST so i can go on a shopping spree at these two stores! It's like taking every GREAT item you'd find in San Francisco, LA, New York and small boutiques and putting them all in one little store. Perfect for trendy 20 and 30 somethings (ok, teenagers too, but only if they can afford it!) Pros: Selection, Service, Trendy clothes all in one place! Cons: designer clothes, so it's not super cheap. more

DO NOT - I repeat Don't shop at Paloosh! 12/30/2006

Long story short - paid about $400 for 2 pairs of designer jeans. One pair didn't fit right when I got home, so I figured I would exchange them for another size/style. We live 2 hours away from Carmel so we returned a few weeks later (I misplaced the receipt, but had the credit card statement with me) and the manager told me since it was past 7 days there was nothing she could do. ALL I wanted was a smaller size! The tags were all attached - there was nothing wrong with the jeans. They made me feel very degraded and now I am stuck with a pair of $198 jeans I'll be lucky to get $50 on Ebay for them. I asked where their return policy was and there was a credit card sized statement on the counter. They also have a strict no refund policy on anything. Even if you buy it that day, you can't get your money back. My husband and children were with me in the store and people were in line behind me so this really was embarrassing and I felt like she thought I stole them or something. I really felt bad and it ruined the entire day because I couldn't stop thinking about it and how I was treated. This is stupid on their part, because I would have purchased other items while exchanging the jeans, and they would have had another sale. Oh well. Pros: Great designer brand selection Cons: Pushy salesclerks, No returns or refunds, POOR manager who doesn't care about customers. more

Great clothes but lousy ethics 10/15/2006

My experience started out okay. I found some great clothes with the help of extremely friendly, competent and pushy sales people. I spent nearly $1,300 at full retail prices and later that afternoon decided against one item which was $155. I called and was told it could only be returned for store credit. I looked at my visa receipt and, sure enough, that policy was printed at the bottom, but I hadn't seen it posted in the store and it wasn't brought to my attention by the sales staff, who were distracting me with conversation, etc., as I signed. To me that's a slight ethical problem--in a town where most customers are from out of the area, it would make sense to mention that items can only be exchanged, not returned. A much bigger ethical problem follows: the staff member I talked to suggested "YOU MIGHT TRY RETURNING IT TO NORDSTROM BECAUSE I'VE HEARD THEY'LL TAKE ANYTHING." I assumed she was joking and made a joke in return, to the effect of "Sure, but I tried returning old tires there once and they wouldn't accept them." She made it clear she wasn't joking by saying "I KNOW IT'S NOT REALLY ETHICAL BUT YOU MIGHT GIVE IT A TRY." The next day I stopped by in person and talked directly to the manager of both stores. (Paloosh and GBG are owned by the same person.) She was appalled by the salesperson's suggestion but she not only stuck with the no-returns policy, she was also very condescending, saying things like "Maybe you're used to shopping at large department stores" in her best Snooty McSnootpants tone of voice. I was furious by then but remained polite, saying other boutiques draw attention to exchange-only policies. She didn't so much as say the minimal, "Sorry for the experience, I wish I could help." While the store's buyers do a great job of selecting merchandise, all the brands they carry are widely available at other stores, so I'd recommend avoiding Paloosh and GBG on principle. more

My favorite store in Carmel 12/25/2005

A great place for those looking for the latest names in fashion - Juicy, Tylie Malibu, True Religion, etc. Prices are on par for the same names elsewhere, and the service can't be beat. more

Fashionable...Pushy Service 12/29/2004

This cute store has lots of fashionable clothes but they come at a high price of course. The people that work there are eager to help but can be extremely pushy, which gets quite annoying. If you are looking for a place with the latest fashions and label brands, this is the place to come...but watch out for those pushy young ladies! more
