Opera House

The Lexington Opera House is a wonderful theater in a beautiful old building. It is really a nice place to go to see a show. They have a wonderful line up of Broadway Shows each year as well as a nice variety of other performances. As with any downtown destination parking can be a problem, but it is well worth the effort. more

Built in the late 1800s and renovated in the 1970s, the Lexington Opera House still offers many performing arts events, including local productions as well as professional touring companies. I have been there to see The Nutcracker ballet performed by our very own Lexington Ballet Company, as well as touring productions of Cyrano de Bergerac, the Cotton Patch Gospel and more. I regret I actually haven't been to any performances there in a very long time, I had almost forgotten they were there, but I ran across their web site the other day. They have joined the internet revolution and they now offer an email newsletter so you can sign up to be informed of upcoming events and shows, and find out how to purchase tickets and get directions to the opera house.
