Great Service 10/9/2010

I have been to the Old Craft Store several times and every single time I have been impressed with the friendly service of all of the employees. I have taken many classes over the summer here and the teachers make it a very enjoyable experience. Weather you are going in to get started on a new project, finish an old one, or mail a package the staff there is very helpful and welcoming! I am 16 years old and I love going into the store, no matter what my next project is, sometimes to start a quilt, others to get materials to make spirit week shirts for my school. I would recommend The Old Craft store to anyone I know. more

Helpful Staff at The Old Craft Store 9/4/2010

A cheery hello and and a warm atmosphere is your welcome to this convenient, multifaceted quilt store! No matter how busy this quaint store located on the square in Carrollton, a visitor will always be greeted by a friendly hello from one or more of the staff members or the owner. Need to mail a letter or package - there is a US post office located inside the store. Fabric for quilting (beginner to the most experienced) just look around they have a wide variety of books, fabrics, threads and best of all the classes where their staff entices the quilters to create a new heirloom. Embroidery more your style, they can help you with that as well. The buys club is a way to save for frequent shoppers and their year end sales can't be beat. Their staff is always willing to help with fabric selection or to allow you to browse to your heart's content. Once the new green line for DART goes through in October, this superb shop will be more accessible to even more quilters and crafters across the metroplex. Come on down to the square, shop at the unique shops, have lunch at one of the several great restaurants and be sure to stop in The Old Craft Store for a dose of old fashioned helpfulness. You won't be sorry! more

Good Service at the Old Craft Store_Carrollton 8/12/2010

I have visited the Old Craft Store in Downtown Carrollton and found the staff to be very helpful. I am a novice at sewing and have never experienced a problem. You are greeted upon arrival and asked for if you need help. This has been the case even when the store is very busy with a sale or special occasion during which the whole square participates. Once my daughter and I were attending a class late at night when a gentleman knocked repeatedly at the door our leader went to the door and politely answered his questions even though we were nervous about what he might want. If a person is interested in any type of craft project and is willing to be polite in return the Old Craft Store is definately worth the drive from any where in the North Texas Area. more

HORRIBLE customer service for minorities 9/23/2009

I'm sorry I have to disagree with the first review completely. I found this location online and I was really excited and drove 20 minutes to get here because I was looking for fabric to make favors for a bachlorette party I am throwing this weekend. Well, this place is located in the heart of downtown Carrollton. I walked in The Old Craft store and the lady saw me and did not even speak to me to or tell me hello or ask how am or I'll be with you in a minute--nor did she even smile at me. So I had to go looking through the store by myself and then I looked at her again like I needed help and she gave me a nasty look but she was being really helpful to the other Caucasian customers that were in the store. So we went and asked another lady who works in their Post Office section and she was smiling when she talked but she was really short with us like she wanted me to hurry up and get out of the store. ""We don't have that."" and that's all she said. It's just really sad to see that racism still exist nowadays. I knew it still did but it's bad to run into it. I left there feeling so borrible and sad. I didn't do anything to those people for them to treat me that way. I was just another paying customer like anyone else there. I don't recommend going there if you are not Caucasian or if you support minority justice. I work in customer service so I know what you should and should not do, but even me working in customer service has nothing to do with how worthless I felt after leaving that store. I ending up going to Hobby Lobby --I didn't know they had a fabric section---where I was treated with respect and kindness. I rarely review places, but this experience was so horrible that I just had to let everyone know about it. Pros: they have a post office inside the store Cons: they are not friendly or helpful. more
