I "graduated" - if that's what you can call it from MCC in 2004. 1. The teachers were either never in class & we did bookwork or had no idea what was going on. 2. I was told they would help me find a position when done, they never did. When I found my own position they called & asked where I was working so they could take credit for finding me work. 3. When I got hired I felt like an idiot, I had no idea what was going on. 4. After I had finished they contacted me & said I actually didn't graduate & therefore had to PROVE (thank God I kept ALL my paperwork) that I finished. 5. A year after I had paid off my loan I got a letter from collections saying I had to pay $6,000 in 30 days- I called upset & they said I need to figure it out. I, again, proved I paid my loans & the loan company contacted me saying they did not submit this to collections MCC did- turns out they never "updated their records". 6. Called for transcripts to be sent, walked in to talk with registrar- Daphne- it took me 7 days of calling & getting upset to speak with someone on the phone & still hadn'y been done. Please, please, please, please, please search your options. As a graduate, I feel like I went to some kind of backyard bootleg school. Considering I was one of the first "graduating" classes no one could warn me, sadly. Also, you could do something better at a Tech college for half the cost! Good luck! more

First of all, LAUNADELDRAGON - you need to get your facts straight! My admissions rep never lied to me about being a Phlebotomist or EKG Tech. Everyone was told/notified by their instructors and through email that phlebotomist and EKG tech certifications WERE apart of the program when we enrolled. I was super concerned so I went to talk with her. It was the NHA that changed the criteria! I'm very protective of my rep and this school because they are one of the reasons that I am loving life right now and making something of myself for my kids. I am a current MCC student and my experience thus far has been amazing! The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The materials are top notch and the facilities are the same. I like the accelerated nature of the program, and the fact that the information being taught isn't being 'spoon fed' to me. I think the students who are struggling so much are the ones who probably shouldn't be here in the first place. It takes a high level of maturity and motivation to get through an accelerated program such as this, and some of the students are lazy and (seem) unintelligent. I don't feel this is a reflection on the school, however. After all, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink (as they say). It does bring me great personal satisfaction to see the lower functioning students flunk out, which they do rather quickly.... if only because as a consumer I would NEVER want any of them to assist me in any medical situation. MCC is a costly education, very accelerated, and well worth every penny. You'll love it if you're smart and motivated, but if you're not... well, just look at the 'one star' reviews. I am almost finished with the program. I'm graduating with a 3.98 GPA, so I'm not a slacker I get my work done. This school is a waste of your time and money. I felt as though I was practically teaching myself. I had to correct my teachers on numerous occasions. They care more about the pupils that aren't willing to do anything and slack off. THEY ARE LYING TO YOU WHEN THEY SAY YOU WILL BE A CMA, PHELBOTIMIST, and EKG TECHICIAN. The only certification you will have is the CCMA. Which is a level below that actual CMA. You have to pay an additional $250 after you leave to get the CMA. You have additional requirements to do before you can be certified in phelbotomy and ekg techician. If they tell you that comes with the program they are lying to you. You will get the training in it a nd the CCMA includes questions of it in portions of the test. But you need 100 recorded successful pokes before you are a phelbotomist. You also have different tests to take for both ekg tech and phelbotomy. If you are a good pupil you may get a great externship site, but most of them won't hire you because they would rather have FREE labor than hire someone. A lot of people won't hire you unless you have 1 year experience as an MA. CNA doesn't count it has to be MA. Don't let them lie and say they have job placement. NOT! They have a computer lab where you will be making and sending resumes from, but they don't place you. They will also send you job sources but that's about the only help you will get. None of your classes will transfer to any school because they know its full of crap. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE SERIOUSLY!!! They need to get there stuff together. The crazy people they allow in the school are uncalled for. They have no business in a profession dealing with emotional people when they can't control their own emotions. if you have assault on your record, don't even think about it because their philosophy is we will train you but that doesn't mean they will hire you. SO CHANCES ARE YOU WON'T FIND A JOB! DUH! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR REAL!!!! Anybody calling 1 star commenters haters are lying to themselves and the public. Hello, I was a student at MCC I just finished! Thank God! Please, do your research before you jump into going to this school! Take it from me this was a waste of 13,000 dollars! First off the school is COMPLETLY GHETTO! I felt unsafe just going to class not to mention my both of my cars were scratched and my other one hade 1000 dollars worth of dammage from being parked in that parking lot. Second none of the teachers are actuall teachers or have degrees in teaching. They lack professionalizm and make perverted comments all the time! None of that would be allowed at any real college or university. None of the the adminstrative people care or do anything to chage it! They are all unorganized and I felt that most of the time I was just teaching my self the material! Third the people who go there are pretty much just off the street, they are so rude and disrespectfull and everything is about color and its rediclous! Ive never been around are more ignorant, and disrespectful group in my entire life! And about the externship they talk about HAHA you dont even find out where your going till the day of and the director of the externship is so rude and unprofessional! MCC is a school. I have had no problems. Prolly cuz I am about my bizness! You go to class and listen and do you're work you are fine. You come to class and expect people to feed you everything an stay lazy then your not. Well you get what you get! I knew when I went to financal aid that I had a payment. Went to MCC for medical coding and building and I am working right now. I worked hard and got good marks. My externship hired me because I have a good attitude. This school is not what they say it is. Its a waste of money and time. I dont recommend anybody to come here and waste there money. During my admission process there was a lot of information not mention. We didnt even know about half of the rules that they have till abot 3 months into the program.. They dont tell you nothin till about three months into the program. This school is a waste and the intructors treat you as if we are kids and not adults. They talk to you disrespectful. Half of the intructors are just Certified Medical assistant teaching you what they know. There are only three great real professional teachers here who actually taught me something. I really and honestly can say I hate this school and hate I wasted my money. The teachers are impatient and unwilling to work with you. They program is fast, which I understood in the beginning but at a fast pace you cant learn when the intructors dont know what they talking about. This school is just for money. They worry more about your payments rather then your grades. If you fail a class they dont care longs you are up to date on your payments. You are not guaranteed a job after your externship. My completion date is December 18th. I wont have a gradation till April. The school is based on hours. They knock you for every little minute you are late. You have to check your attendance everyday cause a lot of times the intructors dont look at the clock when you walk in, they mark you for whatever time. People dont waste your money.. This school is the weakest school around. First they lie to get you in the door by saying you graduate in 7 short months but then you find out you dont graduate untill 11 months later. W>T>F. Some of the teachers dont know what hell they are doing but they want to teach. Then the school is so money hungry that they except all these kids but yet we dont have the neccesary materials to learn whats expected. I wasted all my hard earned money coming to this weak A** school. And then as far as externship they dont give you the option to go to a certain place they just put you places with or without a car. I REALLY WISH I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH BEFORE I STARTED SCHOOL. THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I JUST WASTED ALMOST $14,000.00. I graduated in April as an MA and JUST got a job! It took a minute mostly because of the economy but be patient! In my group only 3 got hired from their externship. I'm glad things are working out for you, but for many at this school, that is not the case. Only ONE person from my medical assistant class got a job. I came from a big class. I don't expect the school to give me a job, but at least follow up when you say you will, and don't send me job ads for jobs that are no longer available. Don't do my resume and cover letter that are loaded with grammar and spelling mistakes. Don't send me CNA jobs when there is absolutely no way I will get hired as a CNA because I'm not certified for that. Most of all, don't lie and say you will send me to an externship site that will hire me when you know they don't and won't hire any MA's. I have talked with other MA's who have graduated bfore me, and they are feeling the same way I do. The school needs to be more honest during the admissions process. more

No school is going to get you a job. You need to be the one to do it. Currently going to school for medical coding & billing program. We need to spend more time in ICD-9 and have more workbooks but I get mostly everything. Started my externship and I they are going to hire me but for not as much money as I wanted. The school is pretty nice and people are really sweet but the education boss is a joke since she never wants to talk to students and never calls them back. Everyone complains but nothing happens. When I signed up for MCC, I thought everything would be great. They told me that I'd be taking the AAMA CMA certification test, and that I'd be placed at an externship where they would hire me if I did a great job. I worked really really hard during school, got A's and B's, and was given two externship sites where I'd be completing my externship. The first site was a free clinic where the entire staff were volunteers, and the second site said they didn't hire MA's. I was shocked!! They won't hire MA's, yet you can use us for free labor?! Even after I found this out, I continued to work hard at both sites, because I take my schooling seriously. I also found out that I would not be taking the AAMA CMA exam, but the NHA exam. I am really upset with the school, because I feel that they lied to me. I have graduated, and have applied everywhere. I have not had any interviews. If I had been placed at an externship site that hired students, I feel I would not be in this situation. Why would a site hire when they know they are going to keep getting MCC students every six weeks that work for free?! I lost my job, because my employer didn't think my education and externship was important. I have nothing to show for it. I'm much worse off now than when I started the MA program. Now, I'm going back to school for an Associate Degree in Nursing. This school was a complete waste of time. more
