midas Columbus oh, Hello Future Customers I went to this establishment on Friday 6-10-11. i indicated that MY air conditioning wasnt working and I thought I needed feon. I waited about an hour and the technician came out of the shop with a computer generated report that indicated that I needed an air conditioning system overhaul and it would cost $1500.00. I refused and asked for my vehicle and left. On Monday 6-13-11 I took my vehicle to another business they ran the same diagnostic ad the system checked out fine. They filled the vehicle with the coolant for $135.00 and the air conditioning works fine. more

I was quoted over the phone that my muffler replacement would at most cost $250. I had recently been to the car dealership and I wanted to see if Midas would be less expensive. They assured me that it would be due to decreased labor costs and so on. I made an appointment based on this quote. Then at the shop they told me it would be $455 to replace the muffler. I was already in the shop and did not want to have to make another appointment elsewhere. Although, looking back I wish I would have. My bill had $114 labor charge for an hourof work. I watched the guy work on my car through the window at the shop and he maybe was at my car for 20min. I would have preferred the dealship at this price since it ended up being about the same cost. I trust them more and they have much better customer services/perks. This place is OVERPRICED and CONNIVING. I'm disappointed and will not return to Midas. This place preys on women who come in by themselves. Sent wife for an oil change and she came back with a bill for $175. Sold her a filter for $60 and $40 labor for installation. I checked online and saw the filter for $13 and replacement was as easy as opening the glove compartment. I called the store manager to ask for a refund and told me there was nothing he could do. I then got his manager's number and I did receive a refund. I then went to Advance Auto and got the part for $13 and installed it in a minute... literally. They told my wife the installation would take an hour. I will be glad to pay more for oil changes to avoid these leaches. Pros: Convenient hours and location Cons: Prey on women, exorbitant labor and part costs more
