Best

Good: I loved the fact that they have variety; if you like the "Americanized" version of Chinese buffets then you wouldn't like the Mandarin. But its my all time favorite Chinese ...

Worst

My husband and I have been going to the Mandarin Buffet ever since it opened. When it first opened it was nice. The decor was nice and fresh and clean. Now you get grossed out ...

GOOD food :) 5/31/2009

Good: I,my wife and my mother all find the food pretty darn good. The roast pork, beef, and the crab legs are our favorites, along with other dishes.. Bad: Those screaming children..Mom and Dad teach your kids some manners, or take them to McDonalds...Thank you.. Improvements: It could use a little face lift inside, and the floors could be spruced up a bit,and once in a while service runs a little slow. All in all.its not a bad place to eat and try different dishes.. Other: We usually go on Saturday or Sunday and the place is usually packed. We`ve tried alot of buffets in the last 5 years, but this one has been the best for us.. more

Great with variety 5/6/2009

Good: I loved the fact that they have variety; if you like the "Americanized" version of Chinese buffets then you wouldn't like the Mandarin. But its my all time favorite Chinese buffet; but ive only been to 4.. Bad: I didn't like that the sushi guy seemed to get mad when you asked for sashimi or something he didn't have already served out; even if you left him a good tip.. Improvements: Maybe the sushi guy should be friendlier or hire someone new.. Other: Oh and i love the decor. Its very appealing; i love the shelves type thing in the middle; its beautiful. Food is awesome; especially the dinners; spiced squid and mussels. The iced clams are extraordinary and the sashimi and sushi; yumm the best sushi ive tried.Great for a buffet.. more

Not Worth The Price 6/16/2008

My husband and I have been going to the Mandarin Buffet ever since it opened. When it first opened it was nice. The decor was nice and fresh and clean. Now you get grossed out when you sit at a table and there's smeared food on the walls right next to you. Plus, they don't even wipe the tables or seats between the people before you sitting there and you sitting there. There were pieces of food stuck on my seat and the table had some slimy sauce on it. It was disgusting. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes it is good, sometimes not so good, cold or has been sitting out too long. Yesterday we went there for lunch around 1:00. We have no children and forgot that it was Father's Day until we saw how packed it was. We hadn't been here for several months, so we were very surprised to get a bill charging $15.99 per person. Lunch is supposed to be $9.99 and dinner (after 4:00) $15.99. It wasn't this high the last time we came. Then we tried to use a 10% off coupon and were told we couldn't because it was a "holiday." Since when is Father's Day a holiday? And why were we charged the dinner price for lunch? Needless to say, even though the food is pretty good, we won't be going back there again. It's cheaper to go to a nice restaurant! more

Bad food, worse service, and terrible management 5/23/2008

They had a lot of sea food that was not at all appealing to us, but they did have a Mongolian grill which looked to be worth a try. We were intrigued by the grill and chose to stay even though the price, $15.99 a piece, did not seem appropriate from the looks of it. We both headed for the grill and plated up our selection of vegetables... the sheet of instructions listed several sauces that we were to choose from when it was "grilled." After waiting several minutes for someone to come to the grill we were further ignored while the attendant made up some other food... once he finally looked at us he told us to put our food on the counter and that he would make it... not asking for our sauce or listening to our requests. We picked out some other food, including sweet and sour chicken for which the sauce was empty. We asked several of the employees about the sauce and they all directed us to the table (where there was just an empty container). We were finally told that they would get some and bring it to our table and we returned to the grill to get our food. We picked it up from them to find that it had no flavor and was not cooked very thouroughly. We took it back to the grill and asked that it be done again and have some sauces added to it... Finally back at our table (now with a cold plate of food) we still had no sweet and sour sauce, and on the table was a diet coke... not a lemonaide as requested... Our initial reaction to the food was that it was not worth the $15.99 but decided to give it a chance... we should not have... the fried rice tasted stale, the egg rolls like old paltry meat... customer sastifaction is not the name of their game... the manager showed no concern and walked away from us in the middle of the conversation. They then chose to call the police when we stated that we would not pay the full price. The final resolution offered us was 10% off... with no other option. more

Bait and Switch 8/11/2007

We have been regulars for lunch at The Mandarin Buffet for about a year. I'd say that the three of us (husband, wife and child) eat here about once every two months. We are a vegetarian family and do enjoy the variety of fruits, veggies and assorted fried foods they have to offer. We joke and say that we help them to make a profit to offset what seems to be a loss with the piles of crab legs that most people are eating when we are their! Tonight the boy and I wanted some dinner, so I called the Buffet to inquire about the price - $15.99 a person. I think the hostess noticed my hesitation concerning the price, so I mentioned we do not eat meat or fish and would not be attacking the crab and shrimp dishes. She said come on down and she would charge us the lunch price of $9.99 a person. Awesome! We get in the car and drive 20 minutes to the restaurant. I mention to her we had spoken on the phone and she regretted to inform me that the best she could do was give us 10% off. COME ON! I didn't really bother to argue with her, but I mentioned that I had drove 20 minutes to get their under the assumption that we had a deal. She was basically like "too bad, sucks for you" She did offer that she would give us 10% off. So, needless to say I won't be giving them our business from here on out. Kind of a shame, because I rather enjoyed the place. more

cheap servings 2/10/2007

the decor was nice (for a chinese buffet) but the food was cold and stale. The dumplings were hard and dry. I'm especially upset with the sushi bar guy who sulk each we asked for more sushi or sashimi. Its like I had to beg for more food from him, eventhough its a 'eat all you want' deal! He was rude and unfriendly. Bad Bad service!!! more

Good as far as Chinese buffets go... 1/14/2006

I've never really been a major fan of Chinese buffets, but when I heard about this place, I thought I'd give it a try. And really, there's nothing great here. The guy at the sushi bar yelled at me when I asked for sushi with no vegetables. The food served was extra-salty, greasy, and worst of all, most of it was cold. A lot of the menu items were obviously frozen and just heated up. The price, at like $14.99 a person, was not worth it. The food wasn't good, except for the clams and snow crab. The desserts were hit-or-miss. I didn't enjoy myself. When you come here, you're paying for decor. It's nice inside. (well except for the part where they shut off their waterfall) The staff were okay, except for the aforementioned sushi bar guy (whose sushi was ugly and awful) and the hostess who was very rude. more

A Wonderful Abundance of Taste Treats 8/17/2005

This is a buffet style restaurant that is a step ahead of the others. The wait staff is superb, the food is EXCELLENT. The restaurant is very comfortable, not at all overcrowded. There is even a play room for the kids. The menu on the buffet is different every night, the sushi is made fresh and expertly. The desserts are unbelievably good. There are many very authentic dishes on the buffet. There are sooo many choices on any night of the week. We have been there 5 times now and have been more impressed with the food each time. Give it a try you will love it!! more
