WORST FOOD EVER: LA Fogata Mexican 1/3/2009

Worst place I have ever been to in my life. My daughter and I got sick from the food. I've been to many Mexican restaurants in the East bay and this is by far the worst. Typically I do not post negative reviews, but try to give an accurate account of our experience to be fair to the restaurant. However, our food was way over priced, service was unresponsive and the restaurant ambience was nothing to speak of. In closing, in my view, it is imperative for folks to think twice prior to visiting LA Fogata Mexican Bar & Grill. Cons: Bad food, high prices, no parking, and poor environment more

Avoid it - Bad Mexican Restaurant 9/5/2008

I agree with the author of the ""steal from their customers"" review just posted. Every aspect of this place is abysmal. The prices are far too high. $13.50 for two enchiladas that tasted like something from a can. My wife had a tostada on a small almost invisible crisp tortilla for $10.95 with hard tasteless carnitas[pork]. The service is caucasian, not mexican. This restaurant is a far cry from our favorite CC County Mexican restaurant, ""Cinco DE Mayo"" on Pacheco Blvd in Martinez. The food is excellent, the staff is great, and the prices are very fair and honest. You always leave with a smile.\r \r Cons: food, prices, service, parking more

Steal from their customers 8/18/2008

I ate here with my girlfriend the other day, and we experienced two major problems. 1) We left a cash tip on the table, and when my friend checked her bank account the next day (by chance) she saw that they had charged an additional 20% tip (to the penny) to her account. How audacious! And how unwarranted...we were a party of five: two adults, three kids, who had already tipped! For that reason alone, I will never eat here again.\r \r 2) Too expensive. $4.50 for a kids quesadilla. $2.50 for a soda. And they charge for ridiculous substitutions. I think I paid an extra $1 for green sauce and not red. Hint to the owners - just include the extra dollar into the cost of the meal and I won't feel ripped off when I want what should be an easy substitution. more

Great customer service, avoid on weekends, great food 4/10/2008

Best Mexican Restaurant. Ever. Period. I don't know why those other people are leaving 1-star reviews, there food is amazing, their burritos and tamales are to die for. The service is great, people almost check on you TOO much... But it makes you feel welcome. Cooks look professional, and never look stressed. Manager makes his rounds every so often to check on customers. Hard not to spend all your money there. Pros: Underrated, delicious food, service is great, nice manager and waiters Cons: Parking more

Awesome food, cheap prices, great atmosphere, quick and friendly service! 2/17/2008

The food here is so great- we often come several times a week! The Nacho's deluxe are AMAZING as are the chili rellenos, burritos, and chimichangas! We always bring out of town family and friends here for a delicious meal and great atmosphere to hang out. Weekends can be packed around dinner time especially with a large party so it helps to call ahead if you can. Pros: Food, Value, and Service Cons: Sometimes hard to find parking on weekend nights in the garage across the street more

Great Service 2/14/2008

The food is okay, nothing to make a big deal about. The atmosphere and the service are something special! Very friendly servers and bar staff. Fast and efficient. My favorite server is named Michelle. The atmosphere is very south of the border and a comfortable place in the center of what can be a very up tight area! Spend a lazy Sunday with a pitcher of Margarita's and people watch from the patio! Have fun! \r Pros: the Servers Cons: Grumpy cooks , parking more

worst service ever, very rude and the manager is a liar! 10/17/2007

I ordered some food to go, the hostess messed up the order and ended up charging me more, so when I corrected her, she had her manager void my credit card payment, The hostess was not friendly and didn't ever smile or say thank you etc...Even though she messed up, I never saw the manager, which is unusual because most the time if the manager knows about a mess up they usually come out and apologize. So anyways I went to the bank today only to discover that they had charged me twice. Not only that but they were in amounts more than what I signed for. When I called the lady ""may"" was extremely rude and never apologized and said I needed to contact the bank, and it wasn't their fault. She then told me that if the charge was still there in 3 days call her and she'd deal with it. So I asked her name and she hung up on me. So I called back and the lady said my manager will call you back. So when her manager called and was also very rude I asked who her supervisor was and she said she didn't have one! So I said ""oh you are an owner?"" and she says no, she is just the manager and the owner doesn't ever come in. She says she was the top person. LIAR!!!!! I can't believe this place has such rude lying trashy people running it, The food sucked and the service was even worse, I will never again step foot in that place! Pros: none it was bad! Cons: rude workers, bad service, liars more

Worst Mexican food EVER!! 10/25/2004

Though the service was good and prompt, this was probably the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten, and I LOVE Mexican food. The salsa was weaker than my spaghetti sauce, really just tomatos and onion blended together, and when I ordered flautas, my order came burned and smelling like old cooking oil and the beef filling smelled a bit off. To be honest, I nearly gagged when I tried to eat them and had to send them back. My boyfriend's burrito was enormous, but not well-formed and filled with the same ground beef filling (though he had ordered chile verde). This might be a good place to order nachos and a beer when watching a game (they have a nice bar) but don't go for good Mexican food. Pros: Prompt service Cons: , Expensive more

Great Mexican! 6/9/2004

this is my absloute favorite restraunt! they have great food at a reasonable price. this is the only mexican place i will eat at when in walnut creek. the restraunt is family owned and you'll allways find one of the owners asking how things are. there is a bar area which makes great drinks, as well as a nice pattio area that looks onto main street. Pros: well priced, qiuck service, excelent food! more
