Great Mojitos 6/23/2008

A friend from work recomended Casa de Pedro, she only had great things to say about it. I decided to to take a ride to the restaurant for lunch on a wednesday. The fish specila, mojitos and service was great. Pedro himself was walking around greating the patrons. I had such a great time that on thursaday I brought five friends for dinner and we all had agreat. We were greated by Pedro and his staff was very helpful. I returned on Sunday with three friends and we had a great meal and drinks. When you go to Casa de Pedro relax, enjoy the music, food, drinks and the service. Also, the coconut flan was delicious more

Perfecto! 4/1/2008

Everytime I go to Boston I visit La Casa de Pedro. The food is amazing, the servers are friendly, and the atmosphere is great. I reccomend that you go hungry because the portions are huge! I have been there for lunch and dinner - both equally impressive. Pros: For first timers - the menu is very detailed Cons: parking is sometimes difficult more

Bland food, good drinks 11/14/2007

We went to Casa de Pedro for the first time and were very under whelmed. At first it appeared we were in for a very nice evening, the decor is a little chain like but pleasant, the bar area is very nice and well stocked. We started with the signature margarita and were very pleased. Then we moved no to eat?. The food came out quickly and that was the last positive comment. The veal with a mushroom sauce had no flavor and looked horrible. It appeared a mushroom sauce from a can was poured over veal that had been sitting around in the back of the freezer for a week to long. The quesadillas were warm, not hot, and had very little taste. If you work in the area and want to stop with friends for an evening drink, I would go again. I would not waste my money eating here though.\r \r Pros: Bar area, margaritas Cons: food more

Good place for lunch 9/21/2007

I speak for myself. Went there a couple of times for lunch. Food was fresh and price was very reasonable --most of them were under $10. I also enjoyed the music. more

Never Again!!! 9/13/2007

I belong to a group of individuals from latin decent that only go to spanish restaurants. This was by far the most expensive place we've been too. For what you get it's extremely overpriced, there was no customer service whatsoever, poor prepared food and a rude, clueless staff to boot. It used to be a nice place at it's old Main street location. Apparently the move to Arsenal Street has affected it. Pros: parking Cons: food, service, price more

Extreme Disappointment! 8/24/2007

20 minutes to get the order placed, that too after the pseudo-manager intervened and sent the bartender over to our table to take the orders. \r \r Food came 40 minutes later, with no attention or update from anyone (forget about an apology). Steaks came well done when we had requested medium-rare, but who does one complain to when nobody is concerned. \r \r The only time we saw the server/bartender was when he took the order, and later when we had to ask one of the busboys to sent him over with the check. Pros: Parking! Cons: Everything under the sun. more

could it be worse? 8/10/2007

I've been to this establishment a bunch of times and everytime I go back I leave more irritated and disapointed. Why do I keep going back? Because I work close. However, the last time was the LAST TIME. Service is horrible and rude. Food is nothing great and cost a fortune. They serve the same food for dinner that they do for lunch except they literally just the price for dinner. So I hope you enjoy a $15 quesadilla that is aweful. I would not recommend going here. However, if you insist on checking it out, save you self some time and travel and just throw $100 dollars out the window, heat up a $.99 microwave burrito, get a handle of rott-gut , and turn on the spanish channel; you'll have the about the same experience. Pros: it's nice and clean Cons: everything else more

Go if you want to feel worthless 7/23/2007

I just got back from lunch with a couple of friends. One of my friends ordered the chicken dish and she didn't like it. It tasted funny, we all agreed. The waiter who was arrogant from the get go asked us how everything was. My friend said it was fine but I told him that it actually wasn't and that she didn't really like it. He was a jrk. And the man who came to our table after was an even bigger jrk! He came over with his condescending tone and his rude words without introducing himself. Rob? Mark? Whatever your name is, YOU ARE RUDE. We felt awful and belittled. Not really a way you want to feel when you're paying for something. They even had the audacity to say things as we were leaving. Nice. Well...I was a frequent diner there and I won't be returning. It's ok food but it's not worth being talked down to and verbally abused. Pros: The music Cons: Service is AWFUL! I cannot stress this enough. more

Not what it used to be...don't go! 7/17/2007

I cannot tell you how disappointing my visit to Casa de Pedro was. I used to love the old place on Main Street (went there the night I proposed to my wife!), where the food, atmosphere, and staff were wonderful. Now the place feels like Applebees, only much more expensive and with slower service.\r My waitress didn't know what a Cuba Libre was, my food was bland and came out slowly, the prices offended me, and I found the staff cool and slow to respond to requests.\r Pros: Latin Music Cons: Food, service, prices more

One of the worse places ever! 6/19/2007

This has got to be one of the worst places I have ever eaten! The staff is some of the rudest I have ever experienced. It seems like no matter what the issue is, the manager does not care to fix it! I can honestly say that I will never eat there again! The prices are out of control for the food they serve. The food always comes out cold, after you wait about 45 minutes for it an the portions are so small you actually leave there still hungry, unless you spend a fortune for a few more plates. The drinks.....$19.00 for a Margarita?\r They really get you! If you want to have a good dinning experience, don't go to Casa de pedro! I have gone twice now (giving the benefit of a doubt) but the second time was worse then the first!\r As far as the taste fo the food......not that good! Pros: Latin music! Cons: Outrages prices, very rude staff and manager! more

it doesn't taste as a venezuela food 6/11/2007

i went last week with friend to this intent of venezuela restaurant and i did not like and i don't think i would come back. the manager was in the front with a bad actitud. ling wait to be attent. food doesn't taste at all as venezuela food................... plussssssssssssss it's expensive. the service very bad////////////////// Pros: eat tequenos Cons: everything else the price and service specially more

Such a bad dining experience! 5/24/2007

My husband and I went here last night and had one of the worst meals we have had in a long time. We sat outside thinking this would be a great meal. We sat with closed menus for about 10 min. until someone came to take our order. The manager (at least he looked like he was) was even standing outside and didn't bother to come over. Finally our order was placed. There seemed to be a lot of overall confusion about service and order. The salad was actually ok, but we sat there for a long time waiting. No bread, I finally asked for some. Waiting, Waiting, Waiting. Bread and food finally came out. I got a Quesadilla which was $15.00! For chicken and cheese. IT WAS ICE COLD. I couldn't even believe it. I never make a big deal about the price, but that was crazy. And it was awful. My husband got the pork which was cooked so much it could have been used as a baseball. We did see the chef....everywhere but the kitchen. He was standing outside, opening the blinds inside, I think he should have focused a bit more on the food. We sat there finished for about 15 min. before anyone came over to clear our plates. Once again, manager was standing out there. He might want to jump in at any point here and check with us or help out. The check did arrive quickly though! The whole experience was a day late and a dollar short. We will never be going back there, which is too bad because the decor and outside seating is really cute. The rest of the dining was awful. VERY expensive for what it is. Pros: great outside and decor Cons: expensive, awful service, gross food not prepared correctly or hot more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!!! 1/22/2007

Being a native venezuelan, when i came to boston i looked for a venezuelan restaurant. the old la casa de pedro restaurant used to be an excellent place (main street). However, the new restaurant has completely forgotten its roots and become more like a commercial diner rather than a gourmet restaurant. the service was aweful, it took 20 min to anybody to come to our table and bring water (which they never refilled), another 10 min for someone to take our order (even our drinks), and about 45 min to get our food. I was extremely disappointed that the waitress didnt know anything about the menu and that being a latina american restaurant the service staff did not speak spanish well at all. we ordered arepas and empenadas. The arepas were cold, hard and the avocado was already black, the empanadas havenothing to do with the REAL venezuelan empanadas. my entries -the carne asada was extremely overcooked, the beans and rice were cold and uncooked, and the pabellon criollo was so so. moreover, the dessert selection was very poor. in conclusion, not only is this a venezuelan restaurant anymore, it appears the place has lost the touch with the costumers, it has become like any other fast food restauraants with bad service. Pros: nice place with plenty table Cons: bad service, bad food, and extremely overpriced for the quality of the food more

Delicious! 2/4/2006

My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. Everything I've had here is spectacular. Not the healthiest fare, but worth it when you're willing to splurge. The waiters are attentive and friendly, the portions are sized perfectly, and the food is extremely flavorful. Try it out! Pros: delicious food, plantains more

Delicious food, charming restaurant. 1/26/2006

The food was fresh and delicious, with hearty portions and wonderful seasonings. The service was attentive without being overwhelming, and the owner, Pedro, was charming and accommodating. The tables are pretty close together, so on a crowded night, it might be somewhat uncomfortable. I can't wait to go back. Pros: Food, Price/Value, Charming owner Cons: Crowded, Parking on a busy PM more

WOW 1/5/2006

Thank you Pedro for true a ""dining experience"". The food was outstanding, the service was great..but to watch Pedro 's passion is a rare experience. Treat yourself to this gem !!!! Pros: food, service, Pedro Cons: wish it was bigger more

Skip this overpriced hole in the wall. 10/15/2005

While in Watertown, we decided to dine at a place called Casa De Pedro, a small Venezuelan restaurant on Main Street. We were first shown to our table by the restaurant's hostess and then greeted by our server. Service was mediocre and the food not-so-great. I ordered shrimp, my friend ordered trout. The calamari topping the trout was hard and chewy. Both dishes were not hot upon arrival. We were not pleased. We had only taken two bites each before we wanted to inform the server. She got the owner, Pedro. When we voiced our complaints he immediately became indignant, telling us it was impossible for the food to be anything but hot. He accused us of wanting a free meal. We offered to pay for drinks and apps but that wasn't good enough. He then threatened to call the police if we didn't leave asap. Ridiculous! Pros: Good parking Cons: Ambience, Limited menu, Only one restroom more

Venezuelan? 6/26/2004

I have been to La casa de Pedro. I had high hopes. I was rather dissappointed. The paella had battered fried squids! When asked about this, Pedro answered that he had to cater to different palates. I don't agree with this. I know that if you make something great, you will have people coming from everywhere to try it. Be true and honest to the food you are making. The arepas were ok. The Sangria was good. Pros: ambience, patio, parking Cons: , price, honesty more
