Fun Fun Fun 5/27/2009

went for the 8PM show which was really fun, very talented improv group, no apparently weak members. the group was very comfortable with each other and responsive to the crowd. love, love, loved the piano accompaniement, really added a sense of polish to the show. cast was friendly with audience after the shows. Also, they let us stay for later shows, which were also fun, though bigger crowds in the 7 and 8PM shows. Pros: intimate venue, easy location Cons: parking---check all posted restrictions, BYO....snacks,etc more

Laughter abounds in Sherman Oaks - who knew? 3/11/2009

If you like to laugh, go see improv at LA Connection on Saturday nights. I brought friends from San Francisco to see the 8 pm show & ended up staying for the 9 pm show as well. At 8 pm, we saw Temporary Insanity, an insanely funny troupe with high energy & quick wit. They also make great use of the musical stylings of Glenn Takakjian who plays a mean piano. The 9 o?clock show features 2001 Improv Comedy Odyssey, a solid group of seasoned improv performers who do impressions, accents & songs in delightful ways. They also make great use of the audience. Both these groups are worth seeing multiple times & I highly recommend a night out at LA Connection. Pros: Laughter Cons: Sherman Oaks more

Why go to Hollywood? 2/5/2009

A group of us went to LA Connection to celebrate 3 birthdays. We had wanted to do something fun but not have to drive all the way to Hollywood to do it. We decided to try LA Connection as it got such good reviews on Citysearch. I am happy to say that all 12 of us laughed until our stomachs hurt. The improv group is soooo funny and their chemistry is really really good. 2 of the group were called up to be part of the skits. more

Loved the show!!! Laughed the entire time 2/3/2009

This was a lot of fun. I went to the 8-9pm show on Saturday more

Great Comedy Improv Show 1/31/2009

Went to see the 9 p.m. Friday night show at the LA Connection and had a blast! The group works well together and had a lot of very funny moments. Despite one audience member's apparent dislike for the show, the rest of the crowd laughed and had a great time. The show ends with a musical piece, a rock band with mullet-headed front men, several singers and an infomercial host and together they the whole house rockin' along. High recommendation for a fun evening out! more

Pleasantly Surprised! 12/6/2008

Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of small theater groups, small comedy groups and the 1 act play scene. my girlfriend dragged me to the 8pm show last Saturday night and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised...Funny comedy, good music and a fair price! Good improv comedy is hard to pull off and you can easily fall flat on your face, but these folks pulled it off nicely! A rather fun way to spend the evening with your friends or theater crazy girl friend! an opinion from an honest skeptic! more

Saturday Night Special Great Comedy! 11/26/2008

We went to see last Saturday's 8:00 show. Hilarious stuff. Really funny cast and lots of laughs. Stayed for the 9:00 show. Different cast but another really funny show. There is a great piano player who entertains between the shows and is part of the 8:00 cast. more

Funniest Improv west of the Mississippi! 11/18/2008

Multiple cast of very funny people. Saturdays at 10:30PM is the best, but it's like saying Jamison's is better than Glenlivit. They are all great. Something for everyone from kids to adults. Don't go anywhere else if you need to laugh, and the price can't be beat, just remember to Bring you own Bottle, they only serve the funny. Pros: Funny, witty, cutting edge more

(The funniest peeps in LA, you will leave satisfied.) 11/13/2008

I have seen most of the groups perform, what a wide range of talent. Most of the groups have their own more

Funny Sh** 11/12/2008

Went Friday night and had a great time! Some actors are funnier than others, but overall definitely a ton of laughing and its cheaper than a movie. Went on a date, and it was funny to see him be brought up on stage. At first I thought it was odd that he brought booze in with us, but it turned out we weren't the only ones bringing in drinks! A great way to spend an evening - and different than your typical dinner and a movie or whatever. Pros: funny original comedy, byob Cons: parking can be tricky (street parking) unless you valet more

Stranger than Fiction is Awesome! 9/2/2008

Never been to an improv show, and my friend dragged me. These guys are awesome! I laughed so hard my stomach hurt at the end of the show. How do they come up with this stuff so fast?TThe theatre doesn't have a bar, but you can bring your own drinks in. Tickets are pretty cheap, $10, and it includes the 1030p show We did not stay for that one. GO SEE THESE GUYS!!! I can't wait to go back. Cons: Parking is a little tough, but there's valet next door. more

Hilarious comic actors 8/25/2008

I saw the 10:30 show on Saturday night, I don't remember their name, but they were so funny. Scene after scene they had the audience in stitches. I'd never been to that theater before, but I will definitely go back. Very talented crew. I can't believe what they're able to come up with on the spot. My head hurt just thinking about it. Pros: A great night out full of laughter Cons: I don't have any more

Intimate Comedy (that means small) 8/25/2008

If you are looking for current comedy headliners, this is not the place, but the rotating casts (we saw two seperate casts on a Saturday night) are talented and really seem to bring the audience in to the show. The shows were 100% improv, no scripted material, which is great if that's what you are looking for. Pros: Good comics, intimate setting Cons: Theater is a bit run down more

Great evening at great price 8/21/2008

I discovered the LA Connetion last weekend and was surprised. I walk by it all the time but have never gone in. Well last Friday night after dinner my friends and I decided to give it a try and were amazed. The 9 o'clock show was outstanding. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. We were also allowed to stay for the next show free. I can't believe I waited this long to go. I will go again. Pros: Entertaining show Cons: Why haven't I heard of this place before? more

Great comedy shows at great price! 8/21/2008

I didn't know what to expect when I first got there but was pleasantly surprised. We went on Friday night and saw the 9 PM show. A friend of ours saw it and recommended it. They were right. It was hilarious! I would recommend this to anyone. We will be coming back. Pros: The show was great. Cons: Parking. We used the restaurant next door's valet. more

Funny improv comedy 8/20/2008

I am a big fan of improv comedy, and I was very pleased with what La Connection had to offer. It's nestled in Sherman Oaks, I've passed it lots of times, but inside there is a decent theatre and some very talented improvisers. I went to the 7pm show on Friday, walked to dinner, then came back for the 9:00 which shows a group that has been together for about 10 years or so. I really enjoyed how everyone played to the top of their intelligence and didn't resort to potty humor, so I feel comfortable bringing my mom! All in all, a really fun and different nightlife experience for me in the valley! more

Best Laughs per Dollars spent out of any club in town!! 2/27/2008

I've been seeing shows at the L.A. Connection Comedy Theatre for over ten years, and the laughs keep going year after year. The theatre is a cozy place, that over the last two years has gone through some vast improvements!! The stage is now completely redone - what a magical place for LA Improvers to be creative and put on fantastic shows for the Hollywood Community! I know that this theatre has created opportunities for professional and amateur performers alike, with some becoming major Hollywood Actors, Directors and Producers. This theatre loves to teach, and they love to perform. As audience members we love to laugh. We love improvisation at at the LA Connection Comedy Theatre. I know first hand that they have great performances as well as training for all ages. The thing that is unique about this theatre, is that they have a wonderful program for kids on Sunday afternoons. So many talented kids train under the Sunday program! And what's even better- this theatre also comes directly to you and your event! more
