THE GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY HOSPITAL 5/2/2011

Good: The day surgery department is clean and efficient. Nurses are very professional and seem to really care about the patient.. Bad: Don't ever go to Corona Regional Hospital if you have to stay overnight. It is dirty and depressing. I was taken by ambulance for hemorage due to a colonoscopy. I was put in the old ICU unit where there was no bathroom, phone, or TV. They claimed there was no other room to put me in. As soon as I asked to speak with the hospital administrator, I was moved to a "normal" room with a bathroom but no shower. Are you kidding me? I was appaled that Corona does not have better. Our family goes to St. Jude in OC. Improvements: The whole hospital needs to be re-painted and showers installed in the rooms. The nurses need to CARE about the patients and stop acting like they are doing you a favor by being there.. Other: If I had not been aware of my surrondings when there for one night, the nurse that was assigned to my case would have had me take the medication to have another colonoscopy. I had to TELL her that that procedure was done the day before. She acted like she did not have a clue. I asked to be discharged and she said I had to wait for the Doctor to release me. I told her NO, I was leaving and I did. SCARY!!!. more

Worst and Dirty Hospital in the World 4/26/2011

I have been to this hospital twice and had the worst experience both times. They charge you more than any of Orange county hospital, but theire services are worst than you will expect in a 3rd world country. Please do not go to this hospital. You do not see doctors there, they are quacks. You do not even some times see the doctor, but in the bill you see the name of some doctor from som other city or state. It's joke. I think they should be investigated for frauds. more

HORRIBLE HOSPITAL! 1/7/2011

I had been here before for similar issues, and was not much impressed but didn't have overly horrible service like I did yesterday. A coworker brought me in to the ER with SEVERE chest pains and shortness of breath, dizziness (nearly passed out several times). I waited 4 1/2 hours in the waiting room like this!!!!!! They pulled me in for a few tests throughout waiting in the waiting room. My blood pressure was 201/120!! And they did nothing about it! I was in a bed all of 15 minutes, was only ever spoken to by a dr. for 3 minutes to tell me...."You're not having a heart attack, your potassium's a touch low but you're fine, we're sending you home!"....This is while I can feel my heart skipping beats, and can see this obviously on the heart monitor!!!!!!!!!! I am not the only person I know that has had HORRIBLE experiences with this hospital. The worst care and treatment, and I will NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know not to go to this hospital. more

scarey experience 8/31/2010

Good: nothing. Bad: I was physically abused while there the last time I was there. I wasn't allowed to use the phone to call my family and when I tried to go to the first foor to complain the nurse and all the rest of the staff there ran after me and tore my night gown off me. I yelled for help from visitors there but they all thought I was mentally ill I guess. I finally got to call my son and a gown was provided for me after a male employee came to my aid. I used the phone and called my son to come get me.. Improvements: fire all the useless nurses and get competent nurses who will treat you as a person not an animal. I have a journal on all the happenings. Other: when my son got there he told them they better not try to stop me from going as he would call the police. they didn't, but isn't it strange that a hospital can lose a patient and not even call to ask why, especially when I was so sick. I went to another hospital and had emergency surgery.. more

Can Anybody Help 3/22/2010

Internist gave my son wrong medication for bowel obstruction. She did not write orders on chart; told my son's wife conflicting stories. Gastroenterologist rarely visited. Surgeon wanted to operate without written orders. Internist decided against surgery but forgot to tell the surgeon. None of the doctors talked to each other and apparently did not read radiology reports. My son has lost over 15 pounds in 12 days from vomiting and being unable to eat or drink. He had so many narcotics that now he is addicted to pain meds. Apparently nobody is in charge; nobody knows what to do and Health & Safety laws are being broken. The substandard care provided is in violation of California Health & Safety Codes and also contrary to mission statement of the parent Company, Universal Health Services, Inc. (a King of Prussia, PA-based company). None of the doctors are "on staff" and are just floaters with no commitment to the patient or to the facility. I filed a complaint with the Joint Commission and am trying to call attention to this terrible place so my son can get quality care. He is deteriorating and needs good medical care right away. more

REVIEW: CORONA REGIONA EMERGENCY 11/3/2007

My wife and I have made more than five visits to this emergency room. We have found it to offer outstanding, compassionate, professional service. My wife has an artificial hip joint that has dislocated four times in the last six months. Our orthopedic doctor at another Hospital is waffling for fear as to what corrective surgery to be done, ie., replace her artificial joint. Said waffling at this other HIGHLY RATED HOSPITAL is due, in my opinion, as to possible lawsuits. Corona Regional Emergency has treated my wife with great care as to making her more comfortable with a 9.5 pain level requiring special pain reducers and prompt treatment in giving her x rays to diagnose and relocate her hip. Over the years, we have been in the care of several Orange County Emergency rooms which do not hold a candle to the quality of service and care givers at Corona Regional. We highly endorse and support Corona Regional Medical Center Emergency. My wife and I, by the way, have only Medical as our insurance. Sincerely, Chris Whitaker Hanna Kalbert Norco, Ca. more

Worst Emergency Room experience 9/16/2005

Be very careful if you ever decide to go to this hospital! The emergency room physicians are not very competent. I was having really bad abdominal pain and went into the emergency room. The attending physician was a fill-in ( his name was Hector); he was rude and did not seem experienced. Furthermore, he could not figure out what was wrong with me. They did all kinds of unnecessary tests, including a CT scan. I went into the emergency room at around 9AM. After a few hours of tests which were all inconclusive, the same doctor came back in the room and accused me of having some kind of social disease without having any positive test results; I was so offended. He then left the room and I never saw him again. Nobody told me that his shift was over, so I just sat in the examining room for hours and hours. Finally at around 6PM a different doctor came in and told me that I was going to be admitted for surgery. I asked what the surgery was for, and he did not know. I had to wait several more hours for the surgeon to come in and was told that they needed to open me up to figure out what the problem was. They also said they were going to take out my appendix. The surgery was over in 15minutes. The cause of my pain? A ruptured ovarian cyst. It is hard for me to believe that they could not determine such a simple problem, since many young women develop this. I also realized later that surgery was completely unnecessary for a ruptured cyst. I could have been discharged that day if it had not been for the incompetent physician giving me the run around, even with the surgery. Because the surgery was over at around 9PM, I had to stay overnight in the hospital. The only positive aspect of this whole experience was that the nurses were really nice and attentive. Still, I would never go back to that hospital seeing how incompetent they were. I also spoke with a neighbor who told me that they do not do hearing tests for newborns, which I thought was routine at all hospitals. I don't think I would want to risk having a baby there. more
