Started in 1981 by a group of quilt lovers, quiltmakers, and quilt collectors, Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society is the first statewide organization to be concerned with all aspects of quiltmaking throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Their purposes are:
1. To promote understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of the art and craft of quiltmaking.
2. To support and expand the collection and preservation of Kentucky quilts and the records of Kentucky quiltmakers and their work.
3. To undertake such activities as shows, contests, and educational workshops.
The organization publishes the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society Newsletter for its members six times a year. The Newsletter is full of information about the quilt world; guild activities; accomplishments of quiltmakers; upcoming shows, exhibits, and workshops; ideas; and, of course, continual information on all of KHQS's activities. Annual KHQS membership dues are $15.00.
Guilds and quilt clubs may join as KHQS Affiliates for a one-time fee of $15.00. Memberships in Kentucky Heritage Appliqué Society are available, for an annual fee of $5.00. You must be a member of KHQS to join the Appliqué Society. Members of the Appliqué Society will receive a special appliqué newsletter four times a year.
