Meets your musical needs 12/28/2005

This is a good place to go for all of your music and instrument needs. I needed to get some cleaning supplies for my clarinet and they had everything that I needed. The prices are decent and the staff is friendly. The store is a bit small though, so sometimes it can be cramped when you are walking around. Parking is also not easy to find there. You'll likely have to park on the street and walk. more

Decent music store 9/1/2005

This place is well-known among the musicans around Monterey Park - the owner of the store usually attends school concerts and the like. The prices here for instruments and such aren't too bad, then again, this is relative - this is about the only music store in the city. The service is great, though, lots of energetic people passionate about music ready to help you with the instrument you play. It's actually quite a liberal place, with many obvious lovers of rock music. It's very humble and quaint, which is bad or good, I guess, depending on your current outlook. more

Musical Instrument Rentals 8/31/2005

If you want to rent a musical instrument, then you should come to Johnny Thompson Music. Rental fees aren't really bad and the instruments are in good condition. They also have many different kinds of musical instruments. It is also better to rent then buy instruments because if you don’t feel that the instrument is working for you, then you can always rent a new one. more

Not bad unless you're trying to exchange something. 8/6/2005

It's a really narrow, small store. They have almost everything you need for whatever instrument your looking for including accessories or replacement parts. They also give lessons for certain instruments. Plus, they have people who can repair your instrument too. The only problem we encountered once was when we bought a mouthpiece for one of the instruments, but didn't bring the instrument with us because it was something we had bought before. Unfortunately, when we brought it home and tried to fit it onto the instrument it wouldn't go in. So we had to bring it back, and I think we brought the instrument with us this time, but they made a big fuss over us just wanting to exchange it. Not like we were returning it!!! The thing was still brand new. Came back immediately the next day. The person behind the counter acted all annoyed and as if we didn't know anything. Somehow they got it to fit onto the instrument, but we could tell they forced it on! You're not suppose to do that! Anyway, we haven't been back there since because of that one bad customer service experience. We used to go there all the time and now not anymore! more
