Best

I've been coming to Jade for about a year now and the food & service never disappoint! Try the tapas & specialty rolls or go for some Indian cuisine, really, it's all DELISH! I'...

Worst

Nice atmosphere, but the food could be better.

Creative Cocktails and Atmosphere 7/3/2007

I live near this place and the main draw is the atmosphere and the creative bar menu. The maki rolls are just okay, scrapings of fish in the rolls instead of pieces of fish. There are other places nearby with far better rolls. The servers are mildly clueless (if you have 4 items on the dessert menu, you may want to say when you're handing it to us what the kitchen is out of). I'll give it a few more tries. Maybe get other things from the main dishes menu. But so far, it's unimpressive and pricey. more

Overpriced and rudest service 6/13/2007

My friend and I had drinks at the bar on a Saturday night. The female bartender completely ignored us and basically refused to serve us, probably because we were female and she was only serving the guys. The male bartender finally and very reluctantly took our drink orders - as if we were seriously inconveniencing him by buying $12 lychee martinis! (You wouldn't even be paying that much in Manhattan!) Then he ignored us again after that. We wanted to order some food, so we tried to catch his attention. After several minutes of avoiding eye contact, he rudely shouted at us, ""Are you going to keep staring at me, or do you want something?!"" If we weren't so hungry, we would've left then. We were absolutely horrified at this service (or, more accurately, lack of). We noticed that nobody lingered at the bar for very long, and it's no mystery why. Jade has cool decor, but their rude service and skyhigh prices will prevent me from ever returning. Pros: Decor, close to LIRR and subway Cons: HORRIBLE service, overpriced more

Um... can you say CheesY? 5/30/2007

This place is pretty nice for a place outside of Manhattan. However, they charge MORE than what a normal Manhattan sushi or thai place would charge. The drinks are pretty good I admit. But if you want TRENDY and not CHEESY, go to Sea in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Yama, in the city. You get more for your money and they taste better. (I believe the decor was a bite-off of Sea in Brooklyn.) Oh and the Morrocan whatever in the back... my 2 friends and I almost fell asleep... Go there on a Wednesday night... Not on Friday or Sat night. And yes, you will end up spending more than $70 a person. Pros: Food is decent, ambience for FH is decent, and good drinks Cons: Way too overpriced. more

What to do saturday nights 5/18/2007

I recently came back from London to visit a couple of friends, who live in queens and on my first day back from London we wanted to go out to a fine restaurant... to our advantage ""Jade"" was opened when we came in to jade the place was packed every part of the restaurant had people... we wanted to leave but I was so raring to go see what the big deal about this restaurant is.. And believe me I did... the place is amazing u feel so relaxed, and comfortable... I was very happy with Jade the music was up to date, the crowd was just a thrill to be around I felt great being there so great we didn?t even want to leave. As for the food....... I am not really a big fan of sushi but who ever is worth eating there... to me I felt as though the decor, ambiance, class level and much more is beyond amazing and to me it is one of the best things made in forest hills... As to the lounge in the back... that was something even better... I enjoyed my time very nicely and what I enjoyed about jade the most it gave people a opportunity to eat , enjoy there time in the dinning area and then go crazy in the back with music and drinks.. Who ever the owners are GREAT job!! And all the best to you with the business... Pros: great value and enviorment Cons: the one thing that kind of blew me off the chairs more

NERVOUS ABOUT COMPETITION??? 4/20/2007

i would like to start off by saying i have lived in the forest hills gardens for the last 6 yrs.. i moved there from the upper west side and live 3 blocks away from jade. it was nearly impossible for me to have my friends from the city visit me and dine in my neighborhood untill jade came along.. forest hills is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in ny but lacks good restaurants/bars.. its like the neighborhood is stuck in a time warp in the 1990's.. q thai is a cute place with overpriced average food, also worth trying! seems to me that the majority of posts on this site are trying to promote q thai and make negative comments about jade due to loss of buisness in the surrounding restaurants since jade's opening.. my girlfriend and i dine at jade on a regular basis. they have a very friendly staff, great ambiance and a very good moderately priced menu.. its a shame that people are trying to knock this place! i recently read an article in their art gallery that named them one of the best restaurants in queens! im not sure if it was new york magazine or time out ny. you cant have a major, reputable magazine name a so called below average restaurant one of the top restaurants in queens. it doesnt make sence!! i strongly reccomend that you try it for your self.. im almost sure that you wont be dissapointed! ive also noticed that most of these posts are old and date back to the opening of this place.. all restaurants are shaky in the begining.. its packed every time i go there, they must be doing something right! Pros: ambiance, wine selection, service Cons: kitchen closes too early more

Nothing to Rave About 2/16/2007

My wife and I are locals to the Jade restaurant and made our second visit on Valentines day, being a close walk and reservations available. The first visit was on a Saturday evening with friends and found the food a little more average Thai / Asian than I hoped for giving the newness and ambiance. \r \r This time, I can't complain about the food, but again found nothing special. Appetizers of Crab Ravioli was good, and the entree of Scallop in Green Curry was made well in Thai style.\r \r The biggest issue was the staff, it took twenty minutes to be served drinks after being seated and repeatedly told the waitress (young Asian kids) whom kept telling me it wasn't ready yet. They were a very inexperienced, nervous and mostly impersonal staff of waiters.\r \r It's really too bad since the ambiance is nice, food is pretty good, but mature patrons won't care when served by this staff and the prices are just high enough to target more mature patrons. \r \r Recommendation: Try it for yourself, you may have fun, but don't count on the service. Pros: Food pretty good Cons: Service very unqualified and impersonal. more

High prices but good atmosphere 1/30/2007

I tried this place with my girl the other night and had a good time. But the only gripe I have about this place is that its expensive and service is poor and rude. The pond in the dining room is just a bite off Sea in Willamsburg. (Nothing new). I liked their lounge area more. It didn't feel as cold and uncomfortable like the dining room. My pad thai dish was sweet and bouncy and the white tuna appetizer was good, but in the end, I prefer my other favorite Japanese/Thai restaurant- Kyoto Sushi on Union Turnpike. Their prices are more reasonable and also a good romantic date place. Pros: ambience, parking Cons: High Price, value, service, good to try once only more

BEST THAI IN NEW YORK.................or is it 1/24/2007

only if you want to get sick 1/21/2007

I am surprised at the favorable reviews for Jade - this place is AWFUL. I dined at the restaurant after reading its first review in Time Out. The sushi rolls tasted great, but our main courses were overcooked and nothing special - overpriced for what we got. Jade uses very cheap, low quality cuts of beef for their overpriced Asian beef dishes; Fresco Tortillas and the local Chinese takeout use better cuts of beef than this place - it's offensive that Jade would try to pass this beef as edible. Our waitress seemed confused, inexperienced or intimidated, I don't know which. Your meal will take a couple of hours; drinks arrive slowly, appetizers take forever, and your main course takes even LONGER (and expect one diner to get their dish while the other waits 20 minutes for theirs). Adding insult to injury, a relative of mine ate there and got sick from the food (this site will not let me use the words FP for some reason) - which is enough for me never to return to the place. And I'm not talking about heartburn either, I mean full-blown 24-hour FP. What made it worse was when I overheard someone on the LIRR complaining that his friend got sick (FP) from Jade and begging people not to dine there - this cannot be a coincidence. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, and you will find upscale patrons dining there, but I will never eat there again. I went to their lounge (down the hall from the restaurant) once - the drinks were average but cheap - the lounge is a nice setup but full of Queens/Long Island wannabe-Euro trash types rather than the upscale scene the lounge is capable of - the crowd ruins the atmosphere of the lounge (I know you're thinking, ""what do you expect in Queens anyway"" --- but Forest Hills is the nicest part of Queens, can't we do better than this?). I'd eat just about anyplace else in Forest Hills than Jade, even Fridays (for Thai, try Q Thai). And for, the record, YES, I AM A FOODIE. Pros: decor Cons: the food, the staff, the food, the food more

great date spot 1/10/2007

my girlfriend read about this place in time out ny, they gave jade a 4 out of 6 stars, which is a great rating... time out is our restaurant bible!! we went there with another couple last weekend, i agree with the previous post, great place for groups of friends!! we had such a good time, parking wasnt an issue, we got there 830ish and they had free valet outside... we tried the appetizers that were mentioned in the time out review, amazing!!! the food was great, wait staff was very attentive and the place itself was very trendy, we felt like we were in the city!!! we started to feel uncomfortable because we got there at 8:30 and stayed untill a few minutes before closing, which was almost 2am, the hostess recommended the lounge after dinner, we felt like we walked into another world... it was such an amazing room, i believe it was either turkish or morroccan decor.. the dj was amazing and the overall vibe was great, good thing that the prices were reasonable because i have a feeling that jade is going to be our new spot!! the hostess was really cool, she was explaining to us that they arent looking to be a five star restaurant, there just looking to be a fun place for friends and dates to just unwind and enjoy the expierience .... Pros: music, food, service, vibe Cons: lounge closes to early more

great dining experience!! 1/10/2007

Recently I took my husband to jade and was very pleasantly surprised. The hardest part of a visit to Jade was deciding what to eat. The menu has so many good choices that we were affraid that we were going to over-order. The menu was a little overwhelming at first and with only two of us, we didnt know where to start. The wait staff was very friendly and gave us some tasty recommendations. We started with few specialty rolls and a tuna pizza to share. Between that and the appetizers we were running low on room for the main course. If you're dining as a couple you'll have to make some hard decisions, next time i go it will definitely we with a group of at least 4, this way i can sample more things on the menu. But you really can't go wrong in our experience. We've dined there once as of yet and sampled just sushi and appetizers, all were delish. We managed to save room for a warm chocolate cake, which you cant go wrong with( warm cake and vanilla ice cream, what else do you need?). The parking was a little difficult, but after looking for 5-10 min we managed to park within a block of the restaurant. Overall, it was an excellent experience, great decor, good food, and best of all, very reasonable prices. Pros: food, service, price Cons: parking, more

Really not worth it...... 1/8/2007

Food was o.k. and the crowd too young and noisy. They have violations already and only have been in business for a couple of months. No thank you. If you want good Thai food go to Q Thai. If you want to just hang out I guess this is your place. more

Best Asian Fusion Restaurant In NYC-NOT! 1/3/2007

I read some of the reviews and I'm astonished at the accolades it's received. It's almost like these people were friends of or were paid by the proprietors. I will admit the decor is by far the the only thing Jade has going for it. \r As far as the service goes our waiter was deadpan and uninterested. Started by having some drinks. Ordered Singha beer & couldn't believe they didn't carry it-taboo with many Thai style dishes on the menu. In it's place we ordered the raspberry sake & an awfully tasteless $10 mojito(made only with rum, seltzer & mint thrown in without being muddled-no sugar or 7Up to sweeten it either). We then tried $12 mango martinis that were overbearingly sweet served in undersized martini glasses. \r Had the Tom Yum Goong soup as an appetizer which was unspectacular but palatable. Our main course consisted of the $18 Mango Shrimp & $20 Salmon entree.\r The Mango Shrimp consisted of 5 average size iodine tasting shrimp with a few veggies & some wedges of mango. They tasted as if they were boiled with some extremely bland mango puree thrown on top.\r The salmon was served with 6 thin slices of lime and tasted like it was marinated for weeks in lime juice.\r Both were accompanied by we could swear 2 dishes of Uncle Ben's Rice.\r If you come to Queens & want Thai/Japanese style food do yourself a favor and try Q Thai, Thai Austin, Pinang, Narita or Mickey's Place in Forest Hills. Erawan in Bayside is highly recommended too. Or for that matter just about any other choice!\r \r Pros: Ambience & decor Cons: Food, drinks, service & parking-wasn't worth the money more

""Jade"" The Queens Gem 12/6/2006

One word comes to mind ""WoW""! Who knew this could exist in Queens? Superb service, great vibe, and let's talk about the food for a minute... A total tongue fantasy! The sushi melts in your mouth. The tuna pizza is a creation not to be missed! If you love Sea in Brooklyn, then Jade is the place for you.. The ambiance, the music, the decor and don't forget the back room, it's a Moroccan paradise. Jade is just a pure find in queens for any occasion. I give it a 10!! more

JADE....GRADE A! 12/6/2006

One of the only reasons I?ll go to Queens, living in Manhattan it does not make much sense to ever leave the island for food; unless you are looking for both great food and amazing service. I would have to say that I too am shocked that this did not receive a higher grade. The staff was dead on with both their suggestions as well as their energy. more

Morimoto of Queens 10/30/2006

I am shocked to see that this restaraunt got only an 8.7, it clearly deserves higher! The ambiance was Pros: Fresh Fish Cons: Beer Selection more

Wonderful and Unique Decor in the Heart of Forest Hills 10/15/2006

This place is truly a gem in the heart of Forest Hills. Located on the cobblestone streets of Station Square near Austin Street, Jade Eatery and Lounge offers a wide array of Pan-Asian Cuisine. They have so many different scrumcious rolls! The pond with the Buddha in the center of the restaurant is especially unique and magnificent. The staff is also very friendly and competent. There is a full bar in the back and a Moroccan-themed lounge that is very inviting. This place is definitely a must-see! Pros: Decor, Food, Service more
