I have been wanting my front teeth fixed for several years. I have been terrified at the cost and the pain. I went to Dr. Houston based on a friend's recommendation after she had her teeth done. Her smile was beautiful. So I went and had the most wonderful experience. Not only was Dr. Houston professional and personal, he wanted to know what I wanted - not what he could sell. When I told him about my friend and said I also wanted a beautiful smile, he just grinned and said - that's easy. Well, in less than a month I also had a beautiful smile!! Dr. Houston was gentle and really concerned about getting the color just right, as well as making sure they looked like my natural teeth. Well - at a christmas party recently, several people commented about how beautiful my smile is. Thank you Dr. Houston, you gave me the greatest gift I could have hoped for. more

I believe he does not want HMO patients. He could just discontinue to be a member. The receptionist returned neither my phone calls nor those of Blue Cross. I wasted 6 weeks waiting for them. And with a dentist that's not nice to deal with, just go to somebody else. more

My first visit was not to bad, I got his sense of humor, although he did get annoyed with the staff. During that first visit he told me that when i came back to have some work done he would numb me and to remind him of that. When i went back i reminded him and he got mad at me! He went ahead and numbed me and then started working. i told him that i didn't think that it was numb enough and he yelled at me and said what a baby I was. When I left, I sat in my car and cried. He was so belittling. When i told my mom about my experience she told me that my Grandpa went to him and felt the same way and that my dad went there once and actually got up from the exam chair and walked out. If he is really that unhappy with his job or is that much NOT a people person then find a new line of work! The people that left such positive remarks are probably related to him or were touchered to make a good comment! lol Pros: ? Cons: Attitude, Acted annoyed like he didn't wanna be there. more

Dr. Houston ... what can one say? Pros: Good music always playing. Cons: No time to read a book because they are always punctual. more

I have HMO insurance and chose Dr. Houston from a list provided by the insurance company. After one month (only a couple of appointments), I changed to another dentist. Pros: Clean Office, appt on time Cons: Drama in the office, ill tempered dentist more

I am 35 yrs old and except for the 2 years I spent in Texas after I got married at age 24, I have been going to Dr. Houston since I got a ""real"" job that included dental insurance...that was when I was around 19 years old. Dr. Houston sets a high standard for himself , his collegues, and his staff. You may not get his sense of humor, and if you are a sensitive person who can't handle a little teasing, then he's not the dentist for you. He also is very straight forward...in today's world, everyone wants things sugar-coated and everyone wants to place responsibility for their problems on other people. Dr. Houston doesn't sugar-coat the fact that my teeth are terrible...because I don't take good care of them. PERIOD. END OF STORY! And he does what he can to help me keep my teeth healthy. His exceptional knowledge of dentistry and his high level of integrity have saved me from being toothless over the last 16 or so years...I dread going for my check ups because he inevitably asks me what end of the toothbrush am I using! But once we're past the ribbing, he gets down to what he does best...dentistry! He also grew up in the area, so he always likes to talk to me (usually while a dental tool is in my mouth) about where I went to high school, etc. He's intense because he lives for his profession and is always thinking about his patients, vendors, etc. He also has a great network of top-quality specialists if you ever need a referral...they have to pass his tough standards before he'll work with them or refer patients to them. I've had other dentists who have pulled my teeth and done other procedures on me just to make some $$...Dr. Houston is not like that. I can trust that he is honest and won't take advantage of me. To me, that is priceless and he can tell all the jokes he wants as long as he's helping me keep my teeth healthy! Pros: Extremely knowledgeable and skilled Cons: Won't sugar-coat things to spare your feelings. more

I went there. Both the stuff and dentist were not very patient to listen and explain. Not recommanded more

He is my number 1 recommendation for dental services. I saw the other review about the lady with the 5 year old and she must have him mistaken for someone else as he only works with adult patients. I know because I was happy when my kids turned 18 and could go to him. I had a tooth pain that another top dentist couldn't find and treat and Dr. Houston correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Pros: Genius Cons: USC fan :) more

My wife and I went to Dr. Houston, we had no problems with his office at all. He does have a wry sense of humor but it didn't bother us. Also, he does not try to con you into buying cosmetic dentistry for thousands of dollars, which another clinic in the same building did to us. I will take our son there when he grows his teeth out too! more

When forced to switch from a PPO to an HMO, Dr Houston's office was picked from a book. Last time I do that! This was the most unprofessional medical office I have ever experienced. Their bedside manner with my 5 yr old was unheard of. The doctor did not want me to accompany my child into the hygenist room even after I had explained that she had not visited the dentist before and was frightened. The hygenist was not gentle or polite when trying to ease my daughters fears. And in the end, even their receptionist was rude when I tried to express my concerns and handle my billing. The staff here has no patience or regard for people's feelings! more
