Best Vietnamese in Los Gatos Area 9/17/2006

I like Vietnamese Pho soups and food in general. This restaurant is a white table cloth experience in comparison to some of the fast food style Vietnamese places in SF and around the valley. Their ingredients are top shelf and the cooking is top notch as well. A bit spendy but worth it if you want good Vietnamese food. Their service is pleasant and professional. The ambience is great for a group of two to four. It is a nice change of dining in downtown Los Gatos. Pros: Great food, great ambience, great service Cons: A bit pricey, parking more

Service and food is Great! 3/30/2006

The Green Papaya is a great fusion american/vietnamese restaurant. You will find some american dishes with a Vietnamese twist. For instance, my favorite is the Chef's Peppercorn steak. I don't know what their secret recipe is, but whenever I am craving a nice juicy tasty steak, I always go there. The price for a dish like this, is very reasonable, considering the quality you are getting. There are more traditional dishes like Pho Bo/Ga (Beef or Chicken soup with rice noodles). You can even request for other items such as carrots, tofu to be put in your soup. How's that for customization. I believe the restaurant has a great crew. The staff was very friendly. We were prompted greeted and seated at our table. The server checked on us, and were very courteous. I believe you should see for yourself and give Green Papaya a try. You won't be dissapointed. more

better than expected 3/15/2006

After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to eat at here. But if you ask LG locals, they all recommend the place. The salmon spring rolls were wonderful, light, and fresh. I had the lemon grass soup, which was amazing, and my date had the mekong garlic prawns, which he said were great. This is not a Pho house, but a cute place for Vietnamese food for beginners. Our waitress did not seem to have a full understanding of the menu, but she was friendly, our food good, and the overall experience was positive. more

Worst restaurant experience EVER! 8/17/2005

We walked by and decided to eat here. They sat us right away and gave us our menus. We ordered shortly after, soup and entrees. The soup came in about 10-15 minutes. After finishing the soup, I was thinking that our food would come shortly afterwards. I was wrong, it took 45 minutes after our soup. My girlfriend recieved the wrong kind of curry and wrong kind of rice. Not to mention it was cold but my food was not. 10 minutes later they attempted to bring the correct curry but without a main ingredient, eggplant. We had to ASK the waitress and she said they ran out. Thanks for telling us!!! I lost my appetite after that. They did take off the curry from our bill and gave us the wrong curry to go for free. But it didn't make up for the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Bad service, No parking more

The food and service at Green Papaya is terrible. This is not a Vietnamese restaurant. It is more towards Chinese food at its worst. Since tea was not on the menu, we asked if they served tea and they said ""yes"", but was never asked if we wanted any. The food was bland and hardly any taste. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I aggree with the last reviewer to say that this is the worst Vietnamese restaurant. I can't believe that they are still in business. more

the worst restaurant ever!!! 2/6/2005

This is the worst Vietnamese restaurant I have ever been to. Actually, it is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food was not even close to being Vietnamese. The chicken I ordered was plain, bland, and cold. My friend ordered some noodles and it was disgusting. The food here just sucks. Pros: location Cons: food, food, food more

how slow! 1/19/2005

we made a reservation on a saturday night two weeks ago and when we got there there was no table for us! we had to wait twenty minutes and then the service was slow and our food took an hour. we noticed many others around us compain at how slow the service was, better eat at other great restaurants in the bay area. Also some one at the next table said his fish was frozen inside! more
