Couples Therapy 11/2/2011

I was seen here for brief couples therapy by Dr Pryor that lasted about 4 months. I can say that I (we) have been very happy with the services received thus far. There were some important tools that we walked away with that helped with our communication and I'm better able to control my anger and take a break from arguments more readily.. I can honestly say taking the step to come in probably saved our relationship and we are both very grateful for what was provided. No problems in terms of billing/front staff, but maybe they are new? Although we no longer feel we need counseling we won't hesitate to go back in when/if it's needed again. Def recommended! more

Very Grateful as a Consumer and Provider 3/16/2011

First of all, let me say that I'm both a consumer and a provider of mental health services in both Kitsap and King county. From my perspective, having a website that reviews mental health services is suspect, given that a percentage of the clientele seen at any mental health clinic will consist of individuals who are emotionally troubled and/or have significant relational issues which they are seeking assistance for (some, not all, mind you). I would advise you to keep this in mind when reading reviews for mental health care practitioners. Your best bet is to ask other professionals in the community I.E. doctors, lawyers, other mental health care providers, and friends/family who have received services as opposed to online review sites. This being said, I spent several years under the care of Dr. P. When I began receiving services. It was also due to his influence that I moved into the field of psychology. I was going through a difficult separation when I first began. His support/guidance and care during this transitional time allowed me to work through this most troubling time in my life without the aid of alcohol (and my other less than ideal ways of coping). I've recommended him to a handful of my friends, and not surprisingly, they had to wait a while to get in for an initial appointment. more

Humiliated 6/29/2010

Dr. Pryor is NOT recommended. 4/19/2010

I saw Dr. Pryor 5 different times. The first time I saw him, he was late to the appointment by 45 minutes. The second time, he had me waiting 35 minutes so he could run a previous patient to the bus stop. \r \r In every session, he had a very strong opinion about my situation. While his thoughts and ideas ought to have given me a diffierent outlook on my problem, his thoughts were only tainted with judgement. \r \r I stuck out my visits for 5 sessions, in hopes that he and I would build a relationship that would work and I would see where he was coming from; however, after the 5th session, I was only feeling worse after each visit. \r \r In the course of a little over a month, the office never had me pay a co-pay and never billed me for any visits. I assumed, like most clinics, that the office was billing my insurance and taking care of things. One month, after my visits with Dr. Pryor had stopped, I was billed for every visit. The office had never contacted my insurance, nor gone over their billing policy with me. I called several times for clarifaction and never recieved a phone call back. It wasn't until after I went into the office to figure out what was going on, when they spelled out why I had to pay them and why they didn't accept my insurace provider. After paying them, they lost my check and continued billing me; however, this time I was given bills that were stamped with ""Past Due"". \r \r The staff is very unprofessional. I haven't seen any other doctors at Front Street, but as far as I am concerned, Dr. Pryor should not practice psychology anymore. They should staff the office with people who care about the patients that come in, and who are not just pushing papers and collecting your money. Cons: Offensive, opinionated, front desk staff is rude more

Tony Pryor and Kim Young-Oak Changed My Life 5/6/2008

I have had the great privilege of knowing both Tony Pryor and Kim Young-Oak for the vast majority of my life. I first met them when Tony helped my mother and stepfather with pre-marital counseling when I was a child. In later years at the age of 14 Tony helped me to work through the grief of the unexpected death of my biological father. I connected with Tony so well that 10 years later and 3,000 miles away I still keep in close contact with him. He is and has always been there for me. Tony has truly helped me to become the person I am today, without him I am not sure who or where I would be in life. \r \r Tony has this way of communicating with you, regardless of your age or life circumstances, that makes you feel at ease and comfortable. I have always felt this underlying sense of understanding and acceptance with Tony. Regardless of our personal age difference I have always trusted him and felt the ability to confide in him. His advice is impeccable and always right on, however he is very encouraging of you to make your own decisions, to follow your gut instincts, and go with what you feel. If you happen to be right he is even more happy for you, if you happen to be wrong and he was right (which is usually the case) he teaches you how to value that lesson. \r \r Over the years both Tony and Kim have become integral members of my extended family. They have counseled almost every member of my family as well as many of our friends in one way or another.\r \r I am a firm believer in both psychological and life counseling as without the help, support, and guidance of these two individuals I do not believe I would be the fulfilled, successful, and happy young adult I am today.\r more

Highly effective treatment for varying degrees of mental health, personal and caring, a family type atmosphere 4/4/2008

Although I have only been seen at the Front Street Clinic since December 2007, I must say that all the staff there, especially Kim Young-Oak, ARNP, have been professional, concerned and dedicated to the service of all people with various degrees of mental illness. Having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder for almost 17 years now, I am impressed with the knowledge and skill shown by ""Dr. Kim'. After a serious interuption in my treatment, she was able to help me in just a matter of weeks. I feel that she is highly accomplished in handling the treatment of bipolar disorder with great skill and ease. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who needs help with medications and therapy. Pros: Personal, quick booking of first appointment, comfortable setting Cons: hard to drive up hill in the snow and ice more
