Fort Worden State Park and Conference Center

This is a great place to go on either a day or overnight trip. 'Officer and a Gentleman' was shot here. Scenery is superb. Views can't be beat. There are renovated officer houses here that are a must see. Some have museums in them. There's even a great hillside bunker along the shoreline that's a blast to explore. It's an informative place. Highly recommended. Biking, hiking, kayaking, etc. :) more

Ford Worden State Park is an outstanding place to camp or simply spend the day. We only camped one night, but wished for more time. So much to see and do, there is not an opportunity for boredom. The beach campsites are open RV style spots. We preferred the campground in the bluff above because it was more wooded and private. While I believe most of the campsites are set up for RVs, the upper campground had a couple spots with small areas that jutted off the main driveway to a more secluded setting for tent campers. The hiking trails were beautiful and the old fort buildings were fun to explore. The beach is perfect sand with smaller waves to play in. There is even a small wharf and interactive aquarium. A definite must see!!! more
