Billing problems! 12/18/2012

I have been a patient at Dobbin Dental for over 25 years. Apparently that does not matter to them at all. What horrible customer service by their front desk staff and office manager. If you get any work done here, make sure they send a pre-treatment authorization through your insurance company, and that they dont just give you one of their estimates done in the office. I can understand that they can't give exact estimates, but expected that perhaps plus/minus 10 or 15%. They were off by over 70%!!! Thats over $700 in my case. When I questioned this, the office manger told me that I should have told them to send the estimate to insurance. Gee, had someone told me that when I was given the estimate I would have done it! But now its too late and they have billed me over $700 more than what they estimated. And the response I get, with no empathy at all, is well is your insurance, how were we supposed to know what to bill you? What??? \r \r Dr. Satola is a truly excel more

i really don't like this place and will never refer anyone.\r specially the physician who did the root canal for may husband.\r he really has to suffer. the crown came out 4-5 times, in 14 months .\r every time he goes there they say we will fix it for free,i mean what is this?it really an awful treatment he got there,they just wanted to hide their mistake through reducing fee,\r beleive me,this root canal cost my husband a lot more of pain than money, more

I would give this practice a zero if I could. But ultimately I didn't have any issues with the hygenist or the dentist. It was the staff. They were extremely rude. I won't be going back. more

Billing Problem 3/6/2012

I prefer to give Dobbin Dental a rating of no stars. I have no problems with the dentists and hygenists, but I will not go back to Dobbin Dental due to the office systems and manager for the following reasons: 1. The answering system is extremely tedious to get through to leave a message. 2. The office manager (""she"") does not call back for days after a message has been left. 3. ""She"" claims that I owe $130 for work that may NOT have been done, but will not check with the records or check with the dentist. 4. Dobbin Dental sent a claim to the insurance company for work that has not been performed. The insurance company paid. I have notified them of fraud. 5. ""She"" continues to call requesting payment without looking into the issues. more

extremely rough and rude staff 2/15/2012

I went to this practice back in June of 2011. They were busy, and I was very polite and understanding--at first. I had trouble with the receptionist. Then I proceeded to have a root canal. My tooth area was infected and quite sore, and I was feeling sick from it with a fever. Well, the doctor and her assistant insisted that because the first couple of injections didn't numd the infected area, I would simply have to bear the pain and told me to grab ahold of the chair arms and squeeze. This is how I am sopposed to deal with the excrutioating pain about to be inflicted? No way! I insisted that the dentist try again. Very fortunately this last injection worked and the pain was tolerable. I was not too happy. Then her assistant, whose name I forgot, started getting aggressive toward me, making her bad temper apparent. She started stomping around, why taking an x-ray she brutally shoved the piece the goes between the teeth into my gums. I yelped in protest, but she didn't give a bit, she just kept shoving. This girl was extremely angry! It was quite a display of having little self control.\r The people in my area were just plain rude. I complained to the office manager. It took me some time to get over this attack. There are further details, but This is all I will write.\r This is a true stroy. more

Decent Dentistry 9/16/2011

Received very good same-day service on an emergency root canal. Hygenists are always friendly and professional. I have found that the quality of some of the more intricate procedures can be hit/miss depending on which doctor you have. A particularly brutal experience last year left me with numerous complications that have required ongoing treatment. Had one doctor no-show since i've been going there. In general, i've been satisifed and the bad experiences have not been enough to make me go elsewhere. more

I love Dobbin Dental Suite, I admit it is very hard to try to schedule a cleaning, but overall the service is excellent. I went to Dr. Berne to get a consultation and needed alot of work done, and since I am a baby when it comes to the dentist, he was able to do all of the work at once! (I was extremely happy about this because like I said, I'm truly a baby). Although my mouth looks horrible, he was nice and comforting and I really appreciated it. Keep in mind I have to get 2 extractions, 12 fillings, and a crown. more

Do your homework prior to service 8/13/2010

For general cleaning, my son & I had no problems. The issue I had with this provider was the billing department. I needed a root canal & crown. I was overcharged TWICE for different parts of the procedure. The first time, I was told I would get a refund check for the overcharge, but ended up getting a credit toward the following procedure instead. The second time, I noticed a strange charge on their bill. After the receptionist wasn't able to explain the charge to my satisfaction, I spoke with my insurance company. My insurance company told me they were charging me twice for the same upgrade, so that strange charge was removed. My insurance company also told me that Dobbin Dental Suites fees were higher than average. Also, I had to go to a different dental office for a more complicated part of the procedure (I had no problems with them). The dentists & dental technicians were great, I had very little pain, and the results were good. Just be sure to carefully review your bill and review more

Hard to get Apt. as a new patient 7/7/2009

This review is aimed towards potential new patients. I recently moved to the area and I tried scheduling a general cleaning (I called them on June 23rd, 2009). I have had my teeth cleaned regularly every 6 months since I was very young so this would have been a very routine check up. I was told that the earliest available appointment was November, 5 months away. Before I could say anything else the receptionist started listing\r dates and times in November. At this point I interrupted her to ask if there was any way to get an earlier appointment, for instance, if someone cancelled. At this point she asked me quite rudely ""did you listen to what you were just told?! There are no apointments until November!"" I hung up the phone and called another dentist who scheduled me for the first week in July with no issues whatsoever (10 days from the date of the call). Maybe they are so busy because they have good dentists...I wouldn't know. That receptionist is not a friendly person to deal with. While I'm sure one less patron won't hurt them, I just don't understand why they would allow a receptionist to be so course with a potential long time customer. This was my experience with all of the details as accurate as possible. I've read several reviews about long time customers having no issues. I'm sure that this is the case! If you've been with them for years then there is a good chance they were less busy when you first started going to them, or maybe they even had a different receptionist. Good luck getting an appointment as a new patient anytime soon. Hope this helps. Difficult to get an appointment as a new patient 6/23/2009

I tried scheduling a general cleaning today June 23rd, 2009, and was told that the earliest available appointment was November, 5 months away. Before I could say anything else the receptionist started listing dates and times in November. At this point I interrupted her to ask if there was any way to get an earlier appointment. At this point she asked me quite rudely if I had listened to what had just been told to me. I got off the phone and called another dentist who scheduled me for next week. Maybe they are so busy because they are good...but that receptionist is not a friendly person to deal with. Just my experience. I'm sure people who go to this dentist and have routine cleanings have no issues with their appointments, but good luck as a new patient. more

No problem from where I stand :) 8/18/2008

I've had nothing but good experiences with this dentists' office. My family (me, my husband and 3 children) has used this practice for over 4 years and we've never been pressured into any treatment, on the contrary. At the last check-up, my youngest daughter had 2 cavities on baby teeth but the dentist suggested we wait until they fall instead of putting fillings in. My youngest daughter has had 3 teeth pulled (bad teeth!!) and my other kids some fillings over the years and it was all done in a professionnal, courteous and efficient manner. The hygienists' side is also well run and everyone is nice (they are especially good with children) The only word of advice I would give is make sure to only make appointments with either of the 3 women dentists. My husband had an unpleasant experience with the other dentist. Other than that, I plan to stay at this practice. I've been going to Dobbin since I've had teeth and I've never had a problem! The dentists and hygienists are all friendly and never once have I had an appointment canceled on me. more

Doctors Don't Keep Appts 5/21/2008

Office called day of appt to cancel because doctor had an emergency come up -- understandable -- so I rescheduled the appt. for about 5 weeks later. I called 2 weeks before the appt. to make sure the office had received some Xrays from another doctor's office. They told me when I called that I would need to reschedule another appt with the doctor because she was off that day. Why would the doctor take off knowingly when they had appts or why would they allow me to schedule knowing a doctor was off? more

Poor communication!!! 4/15/2008

Everyone was nice on my first visit but I still felt a bit like they were trying to sell me services -- ""you should get flouride"", ""you need a root canal"" (I had never had a problem with the tooth but the dentist should know best). I went somewhere else to have my root canal done but made an appt. to go back to have my crown done. I left a message a week and a half before my appt. asking them to do a pre-treatment estimate through my insurance company's automated system. Two days later, still no one had returned my call so I called them again. The person I spoke with was nice enough but said she'd cal me back the next business day and that I didn't need to call her back. Yes I was a bit anxious to hear back and no I don't trust them when they say they'll return my call because usually they DON'T -- and she didn't! I called them back that evening -- about 7pm and was told that person was out sick today but that they made a note for her to return my call the next day. They said they'll tell her it was imperative. I was really nice and said I appreciated it and just really wanted to know what to expect to pay out of pocket for a crown because I've never had this kind of work done -- she replied ""understandably so."" Still no call back and it's been a week since I've been trying to get this info. I'm so tempted to cancel my appt. with them and go elsewhere but they already have my X-rays and other info. - Annoyed Pros: Late hours, location, nice medical staff Cons: Reception staff more

My family and I have been using Dobbin Dental practice for at least 5 years, with complete satisfaction. They take a wide variety of insurance plans and both the dentists and the front office staff have always been more than willing to explain costs before they are charged. In particular, I would single out Dr. Angela Paliotta for both her professional perfectionism and her superb attitude. She has seen me and my daughters through a series of dental issues made more difficult by the presence of braces, and I have been consistently pleased with the results. Most recently, she decided that a new crown that appeared fine to me was leaving a space that would prove irritating in years to come--she insisted on recasting and reinstalling it, despite the extra cost to the practice. just didn't fit perfectly enough, and decided to recast and reinstall it, at no expense to me. Dr. Paliotta is definitely a dentist you can trust. more

The Best 2/16/2008

I found Dobbin Dental practice to be excellent. The doctors and staff are unbelievably friendly and knowledgeable. They all make you feel very comfortable and offer all general and cosmetic services that you may need. So far the best dental practice I have ever seen. Dr.Mihaychuk and Dr.Satola are exceptionally nice. Thank you! more
