It was a Saturday night around 8pm, the place was full, but we didn?t have any wait to be seated for a la carte dining (they don?t take reservations for a la carte groups under 6). After reading all the reviews (at other sites), I felt we had the makings for a nice evening.
Service was dismally slow. It took 20 minutes before the bartender decided to take matter into her own hands and came over to our table for our drink order. Another 15 minutes later, Dave Solzman (Owner/General Manager) arrived at our table to tell us our wine selection wasn?t in stock. Another 10 minutes passed before we had to grab someone to take our appetizer order. While we waited for those to arrive, we had to grab the busboy to remind him that he never brought us a bread basket. I have to agree with previous reviewers, it?s no fun trying to spread rock hard butter on soft bread.
We order four appetizers (International Cheese Plate, Charcuterie Plate, Spicy Crab Cakes, and Bruschetta). The crab cakes were very good as was the cheese plate. The charcuterie plate wasn?t that great and the bruschetta was downright pathetic. For our entrees, we ordered two Filet Mignons, the New York, and Lobster Raviolis in a Crab Cream Sauce. Each dish was edible, but not memorable.
The only thing going for us that night was that our friends were in a good mood and we had a lot to talk about. So we really let a lot of this bad service slide. Normally we would have walked. As for the conversation, I?m not sure if it was the large group at the back of the dining area or just the normal acoustics, but it was extremely loud making it very difficult to hear our guest across the table.
Sadly, after 3 hours we all decided that even completely throwing out the poor service as an anomaly, we won?t return. There are too many other great places to dine in SCAL.
Pros: Large Wine Selection
Cons: Poor Service, Loud
