1 Year At New Location - Not Good Enough 10/18/2008

It was a Saturday night around 8pm, the place was full, but we didn?t have any wait to be seated for a la carte dining (they don?t take reservations for a la carte groups under 6). After reading all the reviews (at other sites), I felt we had the makings for a nice evening. Service was dismally slow. It took 20 minutes before the bartender decided to take matter into her own hands and came over to our table for our drink order. Another 15 minutes later, Dave Solzman (Owner/General Manager) arrived at our table to tell us our wine selection wasn?t in stock. Another 10 minutes passed before we had to grab someone to take our appetizer order. While we waited for those to arrive, we had to grab the busboy to remind him that he never brought us a bread basket. I have to agree with previous reviewers, it?s no fun trying to spread rock hard butter on soft bread. We order four appetizers (International Cheese Plate, Charcuterie Plate, Spicy Crab Cakes, and Bruschetta). The crab cakes were very good as was the cheese plate. The charcuterie plate wasn?t that great and the bruschetta was downright pathetic. For our entrees, we ordered two Filet Mignons, the New York, and Lobster Raviolis in a Crab Cream Sauce. Each dish was edible, but not memorable. The only thing going for us that night was that our friends were in a good mood and we had a lot to talk about. So we really let a lot of this bad service slide. Normally we would have walked. As for the conversation, I?m not sure if it was the large group at the back of the dining area or just the normal acoustics, but it was extremely loud making it very difficult to hear our guest across the table. Sadly, after 3 hours we all decided that even completely throwing out the poor service as an anomaly, we won?t return. There are too many other great places to dine in SCAL. Pros: Large Wine Selection Cons: Poor Service, Loud more

They have moved to: 2951 Cherry Ave Signal Hill CA 90755 South of Cherry and Spring Just as good as when the 2 old ladies owned it. The Salzman's have just improved it with more menu offerings and more than just Prix Fixe dining. Pros: Service, Menu, Ambience more

A wonderful splurge 7/22/2004

Delius restaurant is a gem. An evening here is an experience that happens so seldom in our hurry-up and eat culture, a culinary event and an exercise in relaxed dining, paced to enable the diner to savor every exquisite morsel. There is one seating per evening and the menu is a set, beautifully presented multi course affair with two available wine paring packages. Order one of each and have fun comparing and sharing with your partner. The portions are deceptively petite but seconds are available on the main course. But beware, you may not be able to enjoy your last two courses and you won't want to miss desert! It's not inexpensive, but it's a wonderfully worthwhile, occasional splurge. Or, try the wine bar's cozy sofas and hope that there's tasty desert selections left from the dinner seating. Pros: excellent fare, attentive service, elegantly relaxing more

Long Beach Jewel 11/6/2002

Always an excellent culinary experience, the prix-fixe menu matches Dave Solzmans fine wine selections with Louises wonderfully delectable dishes. There is a premium wine option, wine list or no wine too (but why?). The food and wine are expertly described and served by their friendly staff (secret - often there seconds available on the entree). Delius is the favorite of my wife and I for a romantic evening or celebrating a special occasion. I love L.A., but Delius is the best deal around. Delius is really worth the trip and easier to get to than you might think. The dining room is by reservation only, so plan ahead. Topping things off, when looking for a smaller meal the Wine Bar offers some of Louises terrific creations and an ample selection of wines by the glass. Pros: Great food, Wine selection, Value more
