Pleasantly surprised 7/15/2007

I was somewhat skeptical based on some other reviews of this establishment, but decided to make the drive from a nearby city to check it out. The atmosphere and decor were very classy, and we were seated promptly. The waitstaff were very personable and attentive, and the owner even came to chat with us and make sure our needs were met. The fare was decent, although I would like to try a few more choices to really get a feel for the restaurant's (and chef's) ability. The tableside ceasar salad was really good and made for an excellent intro prior to our pasta main course. Very good wine list. All in all we were quite pleased and relieved that the drive was not in vain. If this restaurant were in my city, it would be a smash . more

Avoid This Restaurant 4/5/2007

My wife and I enjoy most meals at home. When we eat out it is to enjoy the experience. What is most important to us is friendly service. I can often overlook problems if the service is friendly. Unfortunately this restaurant is lacking in almost every area. The food does not seem to be fresh. It seems more like frozen food. The service is very slow and inattentive. The most troubling aspect was the arrogant atmosphere. The manager seemed unconcerned with the customers except for a table of apparent regulars or friends. I make a point of not allowing a single experience to shape my opinion, knowing that sometimes problems do occur. However, I experienced the same outcome on a second personal dining experiences as well as a business luncheon that I attended. The food quality very poor and overpriced; however, it is the way business is handled that makes this a restaurant to avoid. Since my last visit, I have talked to several individuals that have the same experience and story. Abilene has so many good restaurants. Do not waste your time and money on a visit to this one. Pros: The restaurant is in a nice location Cons: Almost everything else more

Great atmosphere!!! 10/9/2006

I was downtown one day with my one year old son and looking for a place to eat when I say Cyress Street Station. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be very kid friendly...well well not so. As soon as my order was taken my waiter came back with a little plate of crackers, cheese and assorted sliced fruit for my little on to munch on. The service was wonderful and friendly and the food I had was great. I reccomend Cypress Street to anyone looking for a causual meal with their kids or for a more romantic setting with a loved one. Pros: great food and service Cons: the parking was a bit limited more

Cypress Street Station was horrible! 10/28/2005

I went to Cypress Street Station on 10/27/05 w/ 3 friends. We arrived before 6PM & at that time, there were only 2 or 3 tables occupied. We were promptly seated, our order was taken & we received our drinks. There were several groups of people who arrived soon after. They were obviously ""regulars"" because they were given special treatment by all employees. We received our food an hour later, & after many orders were filled for people who came in after us. Our food was as follows: pork tenderloin - very bland, grilled swordfish - overcooked, N.Y. strip steak - undercooked, filet mignon - overcooked. All of the foods listed were served cold. We were all very disappointed at the entire experience & learned that in order to dine at this restaurant, you obviously must be a ""regular"" & make reservations even though that is not a requirement. Pros: Good wine selections Cons: Caters to "Regulars", Slow Service, Expensive more

I MISS YOU GUYS..... 1/20/2003

I was stationed at Dyess for 3 -years and I had the opportunity to eat at Cypress St. I must say the food, and I am a fanatic of Italian food, was exquisite. Not only the food, but the music was great. A few friends and I celebrated someones birthday there and I just couldn't believe how good everyhting was tasting. After the main course I said ""if the food was that good, I wonder what the dessert taste like. I had the creme brulee. Honestly I have no words to describe that. My wife and I even took a picture with the head chef. Now I am stationed in Japan longing for my return to Abilene so I can eat there once again. more
