Best

We were first told this would be about a 1 hour trip. NOT!!! There is so much to do here that my kids could stay here for hours. My husband and I even found ourselves having tons ...

Worst

Great place for kids ages 2 years - 10 years. Kids that had not turned 2 are free! Adults are the same price as kids.

Fun time-very dirty. 12/1/2005

We took my three year old daughter to spend a day at the museum. She had a fabulous time and didn't want to leave! There were lots of experiments and hands on activities for her age and I think she will get even more out of it when she gets older. However, as a parent, I hated to let her touch anything because it all looked so filthy! And you know if you can actually see the dirt, then it must be pretty bad. The worst was in the preschool room where they have a play kitchen. She loved it in there, but I was horrified. We actually went thinking we might sign her up for a playgroup that meets there weekly, but after seeing that room-we won't be joining. I was sure she was going to get sick after visiting, but she didn't. She wants to go back, but I think I'll wait until she gets older and then maybe the lack of cleanliness won't bother me so much. more

A recent remodel has added lots of fun 11/11/2005

The creative disovery museum was showing its age. A lot of the exhibits had been there since the place opened, some interactive displays were broken and we found ourselves just not going as often as we used to. A recent renovation, however, has changed all that. The displays are bright, colorful and they work! There are several new exhibits and old favorites like the dinosaur pit remain but have been improved. This is a fund day out. more

Excellent atmosphere for children and children at heart 8/19/2005

Great place to take the kids so they can explore and be themselves and still enjoy learning about different history. They will especially love digging for dinosaur bones. more

Looking for Something fun for the Kids 8/18/2005

The Creative Discovery Museum is a great place to take your children. It provides a fun learning environment. The kids love the Riverplay area as well as the Little Yellow House and the Excavation site. The can explore their creative sides in the art and music studios. Great for families and play groups. more

Fun and educational 8/12/2005

This place is great and relatively inexpensive for all you get. They have crafts and fun exhibits like the mayfield ice cream exhibit and Arthur as well as a honeybee exhibit. These change with the seasons. Lots of schools have field trips here. You can have a birthday party here as well. My daughter has been in the play gym classes and she was not the only one to make friends. This is a weekly class with each class being a different age. This was a way for us to be around other mothers and kids. They do a craft project and play with musical instruments, have a free period and do things like parachute. more

My kids had a great time. 8/7/2005

My 5 and 3 year old had a great time at the Creative Discovery Museum. They were so excited when we pulled up and they could see the huge play area, through the front glass window. They could hardly wait to get inside. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We first encountered the water play area. Not only was it fun but educational too. My kids favorite part was "digging" for dino bones. They loved playing in the sand and seeing the "bones". We are so glad we too the time to go. more

Fun For the Whole Family 7/22/2005

While the Creative Discovery Museum is geared towards children, the whole family will enjoy it. The have exhibits for children of all ages, from tiny toddler to early teens. The museum has a small cafeteria, diaper changing facilities, and a coat check for in the winter. Exhibits are well kept up and interesting. One of the first things you'll encounter is the water area that you can see from outside the building. My 18 month old never wanted to leave that area. Kids can play with water toys and learn how water provides energy and its many uses. For smaller children, be sure to spend time in the yellow house, an area designed just for little kids. They a "workshop" (sponsored by Home Depot, I believe), a large play kitchen area and room for the kids to climb around. There is also a enclosed area for really little ones to be down crawling and stay safe. Many of the exhibits within the museum are interactive and designed to engage the kids. A new rooftop exhibit has also been added, which I haven't had a chance to see yet. The museum also has temporary exhibits throughout the year. Another great thing about the Creative Discovery Museum is that you can host a birthday party there. All of your guests get free admission to the museum for the day and you get an hour in the birthday room with cake and ice cream. more
