New Management = Lovely Shopping Experience 12/26/2008

I'm writing this in Dec 2008. If you read older reviews, you'll think oh, dear. But now the new owner has gone out of her way to make shopping at Cast On Cottage a very nice experience. I'm always greeted, whether buying or browsing. I'm encouraged to stop by and just sit and knit. The classes are full, and there's a lot of interaction between salespeople and regulars and newbies. It's very cozy and fun. I do remember the old days, but they're gone, thank goodness! Go now, you won't regret it. The yarn selection is quite good. I can get a good but not expensive 'everyday' wool like Cascade, or my lovely Blue Sky Alpacas silk, or anything inbetween. There's a nice selection of boutique yarns, and a LOT of good sock yarn. A very good stop for Noro, too. I can't speak to the needlepoint, but that side of things seem to be doing a brisk business as well. I like the selection of accessories like needles and purse handles and whatnot. I never feel pressured to buy lately. I'm left alone to browse, or I can get help if I want it. It's a very friendly shop, these days, with a nice knitting 'vibe.' The clientelle varies--not young or superhip, but not old and fussy either. Kinda--well--normal. And that works for me. I like it. more

Cast On Cottage Yarn and Needlepoint Garden 2008 5/7/2008

WOW.......I was looking up the website for this store and saw the ugly posts....all I can say is ....Have you shopped there lately ???? The store is owned and operated by new owners apparently, and is a dream ! the yarn selection is wonderful, knowledgeable help without being pushy....I never felt neglected or rushed.....I am not a needlepoint person but this store makes me want to rethink that ....! I loved it....the classes sound wonderful and observing one going on the day I was in made me want to join in.... ! I have been making my rounds to all the yarn stores in metro atlanta....this one is definitely worth the drive if you are not a local.....and if you ARE a local....well lucky YOU !! more

Great Selection, but Rude 9/20/2005

This is the classic story of business owners who have been around too long, they don't enjoy what they do, and it shows. These people are RUDE. If you feel like being treated like crap, go to this store. They think they are doing you a favor by just being open. Other stores in the area are much better. more

Horrible Customer Service at Cast-on Cottage 9/18/2005

I'm an avid knitter, and I I've been to Cast-on Cottage more than 100 times over the past 9 years. When I walk in the door I'm "greeted" with a blank stare - like they've never seen me before. The atmosphere is cold, and if you need a little help with a project, forget it! If you have a simple question, they might answer it - if you have an armful of yarn in hand to purchase. I'm now a regular at Only Ewe and Cotton Too in Alpharetta (downtown Crabapple). more

Beautiful Yarn 8/18/2005

The Cast-on Cottage is located in a small cottage in historical Roswell. The location and atmosphere is perfect for the shop. It features a huge selection of beautiful and unique yarn, patterns, books and supplies. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have always helped me find exactly what I was looking for. They also teach knitting classes for all levels of skill. more
