Love this place!? 2/14/2012

Been to this place for all kinds of occasions like birthdays, girls night out, anniversary, New Years Eve and the meals are always consistently great. Their BYOB policy makes it a very affordable elegant meal. I prefer the ambience at the Ira E Woods location rather than Northwest Highway. Will definitely repeat visits!!! more

Absolutely Perfect 1/2/2012

I have eaten in a number of Italian resturants when visiting my sister in Dallas, but I swear I have NEVER had a better meal. The lamb Chop at Cafe Italia was perfect in season, a new experience and something not soon forgotten, in other words, ""it melted in my mouth""! Thank you to the Chef and Staff more

This is a Great Place To Eat!? 1/2/2012

We have eaten here five different times. If you are going on a weekend, or on a Holiday make reservations! We took a friend, who is a chef in a five star restorante i NY. He was impressed! He had the Chilean Sea Base, and my husband and I had the Filet Mignon Opua. All entrees come with a bowl of spaghetti and sauce. We never have been able to eat everything. It is BYOB/. They will serve the wine to you. They keep the drinks, water full. The place is olways crawded. When we ate there last Mothers day, people were waiting outside for their table. We had reservations, but still waited a good 30-.45 minutes. more

Easily my favorite in DFW! 8/27/2011

I've been eating here for years- and I absolutely LOVE it! I read that someone wrote that they liked the location off NW Hwy better- I must disagree. I like that one too, but they always seem WAY too crowded and just herd you through there as fast as possible. I like the new building this one moved into- it has more ""authentic"" decorations and wall paintings. The wait staff has stayed fairly consistent and we always get our favorite waiter on weekends! I think you can always tell a lot about a place by how fast they go through staff and they've had the same staff for years! Always good to see familiar faces there. The owner- Nick has always made me and my family feel welcome! Sometimes his father is there as well, and you really get a sense of family.\r \r The food is absolutely amazing! I would agree that some of their sauces are a bit heavy, but there are also lighter options so don't worry about that diet too much. My favorite is the lamb special or the veal dama bianca. The best part is that you can bring your own alcohol (wine, beer etc) and they always have the glassware and no corking fees. I always tip a bit higher than usual because they don't charge for that like most places do. \r \r All in all this is the best food around- way better than any of those chain restaurants, for sure. I highly reccomend it to anyone wanting a romantic night out (weeknights are better for that) or a group dinner. Outstanding service, food and atmosphere! more

This is truely the best italian restorant. 1/20/2011

\r The food is delicious and presented well by the attentive (but never interrupting) staff. I've been twice (so far!). The lighting romantically perfect. Not so dark that you can't see your date. Also the noise level is quite low even though the restaurant was at least 80+% filled on my visits. \r A wonderful find. \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r more

Despite arriving on a slow Thursday night at 6:00pm, we had to wait to be seated. We were offered our choice of two tables, a 2-top or a 4-top. Since there was just the 2 of us, I chose the 2-top. The waitress seemed confused by this and asked us several more times if we wanted to switch tables. Weird. The salad was very plain, just lettuce with a very runny Italian dressing. The bread was grocery store bread, with little pats of butter in plastic containers like at a diner. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and my wife had lobster ravioli. Both were just plain, without much taste. They didn't stand out in any way. It was a BYOB place, and the other clientele were dressed in ripped t-shirts and dirty blue jeans. After we finished our meal, it took about seven minutes for some reason to receive our bill. In my opinion, the food, service, atmosphere, and prices are much better at Bucca di Beppo. Pros: Food was hot Cons: Bland food, bland bread, odd service more

Wonderful creme & wine sauces! 1/31/2009

I love being able to bring your own wine. No markups. The wait staff is friendly, and provides wine glasses. The wait on Friday night was about 40 minutes, but that's to be expected at a great restaurant like this. Italian waiters are a plus. The food was amazing. Lobster ravioli and the filet mignon with the madeira wine sauce were delicious. The sauces are a bit heavy, but sumptuous. I recommend highly! Pros: Italian waiters, bring your own wine (as many as you'd like), food, service Cons: none, suggest a reservation on the weekend evenings more

Old Fashioned Italian 12/19/2008

I just love going to Cafe Italia. I like the older one on Northwest Hwy in Grapevine the best (A tastefully converted Taco Bell building) The menus of the two locations are the same, but the one on NW Hwy has the best atmosphere and in spite of my description that it is an old converted taco bell, is pretty romantic! This is not contrived kitsch like Buca di Beppo. At Cafe Italia, the kitsch just happened in spite of what the owners intended. And, excuse me, guy from New York City who thinks he knows what good Italian food is, Cafe Italia is not in New York City! This food is more like Buffalo. Hah! Take that! Or maybe it's just some guys from Macedonia trying to do the best Italian they can in Grapevine Texas, which is pretty darn good! Pros: Kitsch, Delicious, Romantic, Northwest Hwy location the best, BYO Wine Cons: Side dish of pasta with every entree not that great, could make this great if they tried. more
