I used to get my hair done at beverly hills and I was never happy with my hair, one day I was someone with the sickest high lights and asked about it and thats how I found Blue Velvet and ANNNAAAA OMG she is by far the best i mean the best you have to ask for her you wont regreat it, now that ive seen what she can do I wont let anyone else do anything with my hair or my eye brows. Ask for Chelsea!!!!!!! 4/7/2010

I went there with a friend not intending to get my hair cut but ended up doing so. I was impressed with the short wait time. Chelsea is the stylist that cut my hair she was very expierenced and knew exactly what I wanted when I asked for it, I do not find this in many places but I left completely satisfied with the way Chelsea cut my hair!!! FUN!!!!!!!!!!! 4/6/2010

I've been having my hair done by the ARTIST, Bryan Cummins for 7 years. Today my hair is platinum, platinum blonde on top with the most beautiful shad of pink ends you've ever seen. I can barely get out my door without smiles and glowing compliments. Not only is Bryan a tremendous stylist, I never leave without having had an uplifting conversation. For the last several years Bryan has worked out of Blue Velvet the entire staff and even the clientele are as fabulous as he is. It's just a cool vibe. Everyone is so much fun and so cool to talk to. If there is a problem in my life...I know it's time for a hair appointment. Also, I've seen many a head of hair get done while I'm with Bryan and the other stylists do the most killer hairstyles as well. Lots of edgy stuff, but all done BEAUTIFULLY and naturally. WONDERFUL! Great for men! 11/4/2009

Love this salon! As a man it can be uncomfortable to find a new Salon, but Blue Velvet eases you from the start. The decor is awesome, the staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the haircuts the bomb! Go see Chelsea especially, and try a Brazilian Blowout. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't. Heather amazing color artist! 9/11/2009

Heather is my girl! I have been going to Blue Velvet for about 3 years now. I recently moved to Long Beach but I still make the trip up to Blue Velvet. Heather is AMAZING at color. I've explored several salons in the last few years, and one day I just decided to pop into Blue Velvet. I always thought this place was really cute when I passed by so one day I looked online at their website and decided to go in for a shot. I thought to myself, whats the worse that can happen? Best haircolor/cut ever!!! 1/15/2009

I went to Anna for the first time yesterday, which was scarey because I'm very particular about my hair. My old stylist lives to far from me, and she really only did an okay job anyway. I found all of these raving reviews on citysearch and I decided to try them out since they are so close to my house. Anna highlighted my hair like I've never seen before... no blotchy color, no brassiness, no repeat application of bleach. My hair turned out ash blonde, bouncy, and beautiful! BEST HAIRSTYLIST EVER!!!!! 1/14/2009

Anna is the best hairstylist I have ever had. She is simply astonishing. She has been doing my hair for 3 years now. I had different hairstyles done by her. She took me from brown to blond, from blond to brunette, from short to long extensions, and all of it looked amazing. She is they type that wont talk your ear off, she lets you relax and enjoy your day at the salon. She won?t lie to you just to get a hairstyle done, she will tell you the truth of what style will compliment your face and trend. I HIGHLY recommend her. Also, the salon had an amazing vibe! I went into this salon on a Tuesday, being early in the week I was kinda tired and not so pumped about getting my hair done and sitting in a chair for hours. I was greeted right away by a friendly stylist and got my hair done by Chelsea. She's the best! I am now the proud owner of custom mixed blue/turquoise highlights! I get a lot of compliments on my hair and have recommended Blue Velvet to everyone I can... Pros: Awesome, amazing looking hair... Cons: Not one.... more

I love going to Blue Velvet. I have been going to Heather for years now. In the few years i have been seeing Heather, my hair has been changed from, blonde, red then a carmel brown, then back to blonde, all of which have been beautiful. Heather is truely talented. I look forward to my appointments at Blue Velvet, all the girls that work there are really nice, i truely feel like i'm hanging out with my girlfriends, Pros: evening hours with wine! , great color Cons: evening appointments book up fast more

I love this salon! All the people there are so friendly and it has a great vibe. I felt so at home. I have been going to Bryan for at least 5 years. He is amazing with color/cut and has the best training you can get. I was wasting my money til I found this guy. For what he charges I feel like I am getting an AMAZING deal. I have landed many jobs for modeling and they always tell me my hair is really awesome, and ask where I get it done. I am happy to refer anyone! You won't be disappointed. He doesn't take walk-ins so be sure to call ahead and make and appointment!!! Pros: Artsy vibe, icey beverages, fun location, easy access to freeways and major streets. Cons: Parking lot in back but popular spot so get there a little early. more

Bryan is the BEST!! 9/6/2008

I have been a committed customer of Bryan Cummins for over 6 years now! He is amazing. What I love about Bryan is that he is truly talented and creative. He gives me cuts that last and is also very good at color. And best of all I always feel so beautiful after he has done his magic. My sister, mother, boyfriend and various friends now are customers and fans of his work. Which also goes to show he can do a variety of styles, shapes and colors. I highly recommend Bryan to anyone who is looking for a hairdresser that is talented, kind and fun. And the Blue Velvet salon is great environment. Everyone has a smile. Blue Velvet Salon is a groovy place to get your hair done. Brian Cummins is an amazing stylist. Brian has been my stylist for over 3 years. I highly recommend him to anyone! He knows how to work with curly hair and does amazing things with color. I have been coming to this salon for a few months and I love everything about it. All of the stylists I have met are super friendly and extremely talented from what I have seen so far. Bryan Cummins has been my hair stylist for about 5 years and he is so amazing I can't even describe how much I love everything he has ever done to my hair and how happy I am with him. I have had many different hair colors and styles so he's really good at helping me decide what to do with next with my hair (cut, color, extensions, styling.. basically everything). The salon itself is kind of like a mini art gallery, lots of fun artwork to look at while you're hanging out and getting your hair done. Thanks Bryan for everything your great. =) -Annemarie more

I have been only been going to this salon for about a year now but I love it! It is a very hip salon and makes you feel right at home. My go to guy here is Bryan Cummins. I have been going to him for years! He does an amazing job. He does amazing Color and Cuts. Make sure you call and make an appointment first because I don't think he takes walk in's. I've been going here for a couple of years, and it is great. Everyone makes me feel ultra-comfortable, which is important because I'm not the type to spend a lot on my hair or spend a lot of time in spas and all. Also, my girlfriend goes here, too, and loves it. Actually almost all of my friends go here, and there's a reason... Pros: Great job on hair, reasonable price for services, relaxing atmosphere more

I was referred to this shop by a friend who found it on line. Just moved here and tried a couple of places that I wasn't thrilled with. I got highlights and a blow-dry. I was really happy, liked my stylist and my hair, it looked natural. Will definitely go back. My highlights looked sunny and bright and my haircut was suggested by the stylist, new for me but more modern and easy to fix. I liked their late night hours.
