Bill's should be good. It's been in Newton, a pizza-deprived city, for over 30 years. It's frequently crowded and a few years ago expanded into the store next door & doubled in size. I can walk there from my house and I want to like it - I really do - but the pizza is just awful. In the 12 years that I have lived in Newton Centre, I have tried Bill's a dozen or so times, each time hoping that my previous experiences had been unusual. After a dozen failures, I'm convinced. If you're not in junior high or high school, overflowing the place on a weekend night while you text and Facebook with your friends, or if you're not a part of a post-game Little League pizza fest, there is just nothing here to like. more

Great food, really nice folks 7/7/2010

Dean is the owner, and he's expanded the place to be a real family-friendly eatery... not your "typical" pizza place. No humming fluorescent lights and sticky floor! It's great inside, they have espresso and beer and wine, what more could you want? The people are incredibly nice and seem to know everybody in the neighborhood. There are big tables for taking a whole Little League team, or small ones in the window for a cheap night out. Love this place. I've given up on Bill's 6/26/2010

I used to eat sandwiches at Bill's from time to time, the Fornax was my favorite. Problem is that one day it would be a really good sandwich, the next day it was awful. The bread on one side would be be just crust with a huge hole in the middle. Meat varied from good to inedible. They didn't even have the same ingredients on them every time. Sadly to add insult to injury if you dared to mention any of these faults, the staff either barely acknowledge you or they are outright rude to you. It's just not worth the gamble for me anymore Pros: When sandwhichs are good they are good. Cons: Rude staff, quality is very spotty, staff doesn't care more

Don't pay someone to stress you out!!! 4/5/2010

Awful, awful, awful customer service, i'm sorry, the girl that answers the phone is sweet, it's the managers that are ridiculous. The descriptions of items are creative and sound very tasty, but the ingredients are gross, old and wilted, and stingily thrown together. I can't post my experiences, because citysearch wont post it (i've tried many times) but i can say don't bother dealing with them, if you've made the decision to eat out, it's because you don't feel like dealing with the stress, for that reason alone, go to sweet tomatoes, or newton highland's pizza. Horrible overcooked, salty food 9/20/2009

i just spent 100 dollars for 6 people to feast while we watched the patriots game. the food arrived and hour and 30 minutes after i ordered it. It was cold, soggy, overcooked and salty.... so salty that we couldn't swallow, let alone chew. We called back for a refund and the manager was an douche who said he wouldn't give us any refund. I will never order from this place again. I highly recommend nobody to ever order from this piece of craps ever again. horrible custom service and horrible food= horrible eatery Pros: nothing Cons: worst sub shop in boston! more

I'm a regular customer and often bring food to colleagues at work and we LOVE the pizza and salads here. Our favorite is the Chicken Ranch Pizza. You must try it!!! Pros: Pizza, salad, salad dressing more

Awesome Pizza 10/1/2008

I had lunch at Bill's last week and it was great. I tried a couple different slices and they all were delicous. I strongly recommend trying the chicken ranch pizza, it tasted great and the slices were huge. This place is fantastic and I can't wait to go back. Pros: everything Cons: none more

Skimpy toppings 9/26/2008

Arrived at Bill's on Friday night for our first visit. Ordered a large one topping pizza with Canadian bacon and hot wings to go. The pizza arrived with what appeared to be one or two slices of Canadian bacon cut up and divided on top of a large pizza. What a disappointment! Why bother with any meat at all? The wings were soggy and undercooked. Would not recommend to anyone who enjoys good pizza or wings. Pros: live band on Friday nights Cons: food more

The WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life !!!!!!!!! 6/4/2008

Last night , I ordered 6 pizzas for my son's little league game to be delivered . I gave them my credit card # over the phone and told them my location. They never delivered them . When I called to find out where the pizzas were I was told by the person on the phone( who later turns out to be the owner!) That they had been delivered, an obvious lie because myself & the 12 other parents present never saw one pizza delivered. I asked them where they had been delivered to . The response " I received was I have no idea lady I'm just the pizza guy" I asked him to void my transaction and I would tell the little leaguer s they had to wait another 20 mins so I could order pizzas from somewhere else( by the way cheaper & better tasting too) Cons: Terrible service more

This place is sooo comfortable 10/26/2006

Bill's is the perfect place to meet and hang out. The variety is great and the subs and salads are fantastic. The greek dressing is a family recipe and it is wonderful. The atmosphere is very hip and they just aquired the space next door. It's a fun mix of retro and modern decor.i just have to say that the desserts are yummy.To all you brownie lovers, Emily's brownies are fantastic. They are the fudgiest I've ever tasted ! After a good pizza, salad or sub, the chocolate lover must have a brownie to finish off a great meal. Pros: quick service and friendly staff Cons: No table service more

There's too much on the menu...I ordered chicken parm and it was dry and I had to wait at least 20 minutes for a take out order. Service was friendly but it seemed really crowed while I was waiting for my food. A lot of the customers that were dinning in had problems finding the napkins which were somewhat hidden. When I got my sandwich out of the wrapping all of the cheese had stuck to the paper and was no longer eatible...they may want to try and stick a piece of tip foil in there to keep it from sticking. slam, bam, thank you mam....WOW..what food! you would not expect anything of this value and taste from what - at first - appears to be just a sub shop; but, we have Beef stew - excellent with excellent pizza dough rolls ... take out for dinner ...no brainer (Just hide the containers and you're a hero on a low budget.) more
