I used to like going there, their ice cream has always been good. Since their reopening (after renovations and a new owner), things have changed. The interior design is very unappealing, and reminds of a barbie house. Second, their portions seem to have shrunk dramatically! The $4 small ice cream sundae I had looked more like a kiddie serving, and actually got lost in the paper cup. I don't think I'll be going there in the future, and neither will I recommend it to anyone. more

Bart's Homemade ice cream is a great place if you're looking for something other than the usual chocolate and vanilla ice cream. They're flavors have included "Three Geeks and a Redhead," "Black Tiger," and "Bada Bing." The ice creams are as unique as their names, and very very tasty. In addition to ice cream Bart's Homemade offers smoothies, soups, sandwiches, baked goods and New York style bagels. If you're looking for something sweet other than ice cream, try one of their many baked goods (I recommend the chocolate brownies). The small shop offers wireless internet connection, as well as acozy atmosphere to sit and enjoy time with friends. more

great local ice cream shop 8/14/2005

This is a neat ice cream shop featuring a huge cow inside. Lots of ice cream creations to choose from. They have a great outdoor seating space which is fun to lounge at. It isn’t the cheapest place to get ice cream but it is nice to support local industry. more

Truly homemade! 8/12/2005

Bart's is my first pick for ice cream in Amherst. The ice cream is perfectly creamy without being gummy. Also, the place is great to go for lunch. The sandwiches are delicious and soups are huge. I love to go on Sundays and get The Works bagel - salmon, cream cheese, sproutes, tomato. I think they also have free wi-fi access, which is also a plus. more

Bart’s ice cream is a highly addictive substance. They have your basic flavors as well as some of the best original creations. My personal favorite is Pillow Talk which is coffee ice cream chock full of chocolate covered espresso beans. Their pumpkin ice cream would happily replace pie at my thanksgiving table. The texture is phenomenal and the quantity of flavors in the daily selections is dizzying. You can also grab soup, sandwiches, cakes, pies and coffee here. more

Best Ice Cream 6/21/2005

Barts homemade has the best ice cream around, the name says it all, homemade. It's not just a ice cream joint either, you can buy pastries, beverages, and a wide assortment of delicious desserts. My sister use to work here and she would bring me back sundays once and a while. Now that she’s not working there I find myself going there very often to serve my cravings. This is highly recommended by me. You won't be disappointed! more
