Budget Friendly 11/15/2009

The food was ok. My wife and I were able to get plenty to eat (salad, entree, drinks) for less than $20. Not bad when most place charge you that per person. Food was mediocre. We didn't order pizza which seems to be the biggest thing there, but we did order a couple of the Italian dishes. Think microwave dinner taste. So I may be willing to give the pizza a try, maybe, but that would be it. If I want a microwave box dinner I'll pick one up from the supermarket. The environment was friend.y, the staff were nice and polite, the smell of cigarette smoke was not over bearing in the non-smoking section. But the flies and gnats were not acceptable. If you want to hear some local gossip and want to go out on a budget, then this is a fair option at best. Clean the place up and it would get another star for worthwhile decent venue. Pros: very friendly people Cons: flies, gnats, dirty more

If there ever was a pizza tradition in dallas, here it is.. 2/14/2008

This place is a complete dive, full of regulars and chain smokers. Yet they welcome new comers with a smile. Its the type of place that remembers your drink order, or that you have trouble picking between the chicken parm or just the normal spagetti. You become a regular without even noticing that you do eat there twice a week.. Pros: your a regular before ya know it more

Good Old Fashioned Thin Crust Pizza with Fresh Toppings 1/29/2007

I discovered Angelo's several years ago when I used to work in Irving. I now live in Carrollton and will happily make the drive to enjoy their awesome pizza! Upon entering Angelo's, you notice that they haven't updated the interior of the restaurant for quite some time (possibly decades!). It has an old fashioned charm to it, beat up booths and tables etc., but you can see the kitchen and it looks clean, so that's a BIG plus in my book. Their claim to fame is their pasta dishes, which I have never gotten around to trying because the pizza is soooo good! The crust is thin and crispy and they have house made sausage which is delicious. The prices are also very reasonable here; I don't think they have raised their prices in a very long time! The sauce is thick and rich with just the right spicyness to it. I am a pizza afficianado, and I have been known to drive many miles for a good pizza. Angelo's cures my need for a ""pizza fix"" EVERY TIME! The waitresses are very nice and I suspect that most of them have been there since the place opened for business. My only complaint is that the soft drinks are NEVER fizzy! I think they need to update their CO2 tanks or something. This is a pretty large restaurant and they seem to cater alot to families. They have a smoking section as warned by the sign on most Irving restaurants.."" This is a SMOKING facility"", not NON-SMOKING as you are probably used to seeing in the Dallas area restaurants. I always order a larger pizza than I can eat in one sitting so I will have leftovers for later! I highly reccommend Angelo's to anyone that is looking for some old fashioned style thin-crust pizza because they never seen to disappoint! Pros: Great Pizza and Kitschy atmosphere Cons: Non - Fizzy soft drinks more
