Great Sushi in the middle of North Carolina 4/14/2006

Akai Hana has the best sushi I've had in the triangle. All the ingredients are fresh and I've never experienced anything being past its prime or overly fishy. This is a great place to come with a group of friends and order up a huge platter of sushi. The miso soup is pretty standard. The potato croquettes are a tatsy appetizer. Come early if you want to eat here on a Friday or Saturday, as there will always be a line and a long wait. more

Great fix for that Sushi Craving! 8/14/2005

If you are craving sushi, head to Carrboro for a great sushi meal. If going on a Friday or Saturday- there will probably be a wait. The service has generally been good and we have always been pleased with what we order. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for sushi in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area. more

Great Japanese in downtown Carrboro 8/12/2005

Akai Hana is the best Japanese food in Carrboro. It is in a central location, and it has a nice indoor space in addition to a Japanese outdoor patio. The sushi is great-- very fresh and a great variety. It is as good as sushi I've had in major cities. There is also a reasonable lunch special. The non-sushi entrees are a little less exciting and appealing, but they do exist for the non-sushi types. It probably isn't worth running here unless most people in your party want sushi though. more
