If you want a special salon experience you must try Amie at Akada. Along with getting a stylish, hip haircut, talking with Amie is delightful. She makes you feel so comfortable while sitting in her chair. more

Lovin my curly locks 2/21/2011

I have always had very curly hair, and have seen lots of different hair dressers. I heard from several friends that this salon is known for doing curly hair, so I checked it out. I went in with long hair wanting to keep it that way. Kelli( my hair dresser) told me that I could keep the length but some long layering would really help make it lay better. So I said lets do it. Kelli transformed my curls, and used a magical new moroccan oil foam and I left with the best looking cut, and curls ever. I never even knew my curls could look this great. I walked out with a diffuser, and of course the magical moroccan curl foam. I will definitely be back and next time it will be for color too. :) ANd it a plus that its next to Jenis Icecreams and Staufs.. two of my other favorites more

Kelli Sanders- Best Hair Stylist in Columbus 2/2/2011

After reading many reviews of Kelli online, I decided to giver her a go. I am a bit particular when it comes to my hair and am always a bit nervous when trying someone new, but Kelli far exceeded all expectations I had. She listened to everything I had to say and made several suggestions that I had not yet even considered. I have blonde curly hair and always have trouble finding a stylist who knows what they are doing when it comes to blondes and curls, but Kelli showed me pictures and we talked until she knew exactly what I wanted. My Colour is absolutely beautiful, and she nailed the cut. If you have not already seen Kelli at AKADA... you a missing out on the color and cut of your life. Can you tell I fancy my hair a little?? more

Mary Catherine was awesome! 1/27/2011

Mary Catherine did an AMAZING job on my hair. I have extremely fine hair, but lots of it ....which always seems to puzzle the number of hairdressers that I have tried. Before, no one could ever manage to give my hair body/shape/fullness and also struggled with the type of cut to do. My bangs and layers were never right until I had Mary Catherine cut my hair. She also taught me how to round brush my hair which is quick, easy, but looks great. I also decided to color my hair and was a little nervous about. My hair was originally highlighted (pretty blonde) and I wanted to go darker than my natural color (light brown). I have to admit, I have had some friends go dark and it didn't look natural at all. I had the complete opposite experience. My hair color matched my skin tone perfectly and I loved it. I highly recommend Mary Catherine as a stylist and Akada is a great salon. You can't go wrong here! more

Kelli is best hair stylist! 1/13/2011

I have had so many bad experinces with hair stylists that after moving I was terrified to go anywhere. I saw on here some people recommended Kelli so I tried her. And it was the best hair appointment I have ever had! I have really fine hair with no body. Kelli first asked what I was aiming for long term-growing my hair out, keeping it medium length, etc. She also told me how bangs would help with my face and that longer layers wouldnt be so choppy and easier to deal with daily. After cutting, she was styling and showed me how to use a round brush and because of that, I have had perfect hair ever since leaving her. Ive went back a couple times since the inital cut and I didnt think it could get any better, but it has! She is consistent, well trained, and knows what she is doing! more

Akada Stylist Kelli Sanders 12/28/2010

I have been in to see Kelli Sanders several times now and leave happier every time. She is very friendly and creates a great experience. Each time she started out talking to me about what I wanted as well as her ideas of what shape would look best around my face and what colors would look the most natural. She is great with color and as it grows out, there is never a big line; it blends very well! I also am so happy with the cuts she gives. I have tried a few different cuts now and each one has been great. Kelli is very good at explaining what she is doing while styling my hair so I can recreate the look at home. I have gotten several products now from them and am happier with my hair than I have ever been. I would recommend her to anyone! more

Akada Salon and Stylist 12/27/2010

Akada Hair salon provides great services at the price you want in a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. I love their PM Shine hair color treatment which leaves my hair silky for weeks and fades out without any hair line. Kelli Sanders gives a great cut (I usually get long layers) and is very reasonably priced. I also love that they are right next to Jeni's and Stauf's - two of my other favorite places to hang out in Grandview! more

Amie is the curly hair MASTER 12/27/2010

I've lived in New York City for the past 10 years and have tried dozens of stylists at various salons (Devachan, Bumble & Bumble, Beehive, Mousey Brown, Hair Metal, etc.) and have NEVER found a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair like AMIE at Akada. Unlike many stylists, she listens to you explain the individual nature of your hair while studying it for several minutes. For instance, the front of my head is much curlier than the back. I ALWAYS leave her chair with a face-flattering, unique cut that feels fabulous. The great thing about Amie is that she works with complete confidence and it doesn't take an hour - like some stylists who treat my head like a topiary that is never quite finished. I've been to so many stylists in NY who look like they might have a nervous breakdown while cutting my hair - usually because they're just not sure how to cut curls. Amie is not like that. She is a professional with many years of experience and pays close attention when you tell her what you want. I even asked her to do curly bangs and she didn't bat an eye. No problem! They look fantastic! She has a killer style herself so you can trust that your cut will be completely hip. I'll be coming back to Columbus to see Amie for all of my future haircuts :) more

Akada Stylist 12/27/2010

I have lots of hair, but it is very fine and difficult to work with. It won't hold a curl and has a mind of it's own. Because of this, I have never really had a fantastic haircut until I came to Akada. I was just a walk-in but I was set up with the best stylist I've ever had, Kelli Sanders. I asked for suggestions and she told me exactly what she thought based upon my face shape, which is something that no other hairstylist has done. She was helpful, talkative, and gave fantastic tips and advice on what to do with my hair. At Akada, you actually feel like they want to keep you as a client and get to know you, unlike other salons. I think I""ve found my new stylist and I would recommend her or anyone else at Akada to someone looking for a great haircut. more

Akada stylist for curly hair! 12/24/2010

I have naturally curly hair. Not the cute, wavy kind...but very spiraled curls. I have been avoiding hair salons for the last ten years as a result. After many cuts where I went home with a style that dried into something that made me not want to leave my house, I resigned myself to wearing my hair long and trimming it myself. Recently, I decided to donate my hair, and that I needed a professional stylist to make that happen. After searching online, I found a recommendation for Kelli Sanders at Akada Hair Salon in Grandview, OH and I decided to give it a whirl. I AM SO HAPPY with both Kelli and my haircut! She knew what to do with my hair and facial features and I left the salon a happy camper and continued to be happy when styling it myself the next day. I have already gone back to her (she is INCREDIBLY reasonably priced) and plan to keep going back!!! more

I grew up in a really small town where you didn't have a whole lot of options on where you could go to get a hair cut. If you asked for something short and edgy, you got a shoulder length bob; if you asked for something updated with layers, you got a super 80's feathered look and lots of hairspray... I've had my share of bad haircuts, so I was a little gun shy when I moved to Columbus and needed to find a stylist. Thank GOD I stumbled across Lindsey! I have NEVER been dissapointed with any hairstyle she's given me! The girl is skilled! I have super fine hair, but she works her magic and I come out with massive volume and shine- honestly, she's a miracle worker! And she's super creative too! I asked her to style my hair for a halloween party (I was a toothfairy) and she figured out a way to encorporate dental floss into a big crazy updo- everyone loved it! PS, she's great with color too! I followed her to Akada from another salon and honestly, I'd follow her if she ever decided to go anywhere else! She's awesome! Highly recommended! :) more

Love this Salon 12/15/2010

Went here after a cut gone wrong and Lindsey did a miracle on my hair. I will not go anywhere else now. Everyone is amazingly nice and polite. They take the time to address your hair concerns and then fix them. Cannot say enough great things about Akada! more

Kelli Is the Best Colorist/Stylist I've Found In A Long Time 12/14/2010

I can not say enough good things about Kelli at Akada Salon. I have had a lot of trouble finding a colorist that truly covers all my gray hair. She does it perfectly every time, and always matches it seamlessly to my natural hair color. I also am someone who stains VERY easily around my hairline, and I have never been to anyone who takes more time and care making sure this does not happen--which is extremely appreciated. I also decided to recently cut off my long mop of curly hair, and go pixie style. Quite a scary move for anyone who has always had long hair. She did SUCH a fantastic job, and I LOVE my new do!! Kelli will have my business for as long as I live in the greater Columbus area!! I would trust her with any of my hair needs and happily recommend her to friends and family. Thanks Kelli!!!! more

Lindsey gives it her all : artist, chemist and therapist ! 12/13/2010

I would rate Lindsey with 10 stars if allowed . Her precision cuts have liberated me ! I can literally wash and go with my medium length style or with a little more effort and using the products and the techniques that she has taught me , have a completely different fabulous look . So much fun and so little effort when you know how ! Lindsey is particularly good at working with you to design a style and create highlights that both flatter your facial structure and complement your coloring . The feedback from neighbors ( even guys ) and friends has been most flattering . This is better than cosmetic surgery ...and a lot more fun!! I am so grateful to have connected with Lindsey and wanted to share the good news . Phyllis more

I have lived in columbus for 11 years and been searching for a stylist who knows how to make my color and cut fun without being wild. I finally found Kelli at Akada Hair Salon. I came in with a picture and she made several suggestions based on my skin and hair, and went from there. The color is so stylish, fun, but not too crazy. My cut, well lets just say I have at least two people per day asking where I got it cut! If you haven't tried Kelli at AKada... You Should!!! more

Following Amie to Akada 12/10/2010

I am a Flight Attendant, based and living in Chicago. My hair stylist Amie recently moved to columbus OH and is working at Akada Hair Salon. Since she left i have arranged my schedule so that i can get my hair cut and colored by her in Columbus. I know that sounds crazy but letting anyone else do my hair is even crazier. She is the BEST. I travel all over and people are always asking me where i get my hair done. Her cuts and coloring are always hip and stylish. Besides being a great stylist she is also a nice person who is so easy to talk with. Akada salon is super nice, very bright and open. Everyone working there was friendly and welcoming. i love their Onesta shampoo and conditioner, it is vegan and has no parabens. I can't compliment Amie and Akada enough, they make traveling to columbus for a haircut worth it. more
