Review content:
The best places to find BBQ in Texas are always those little hole-in-the-wall joints where the decor is all dust and ancient taxidermy. Riscky's has the taxidermy but not the dust, and the food is just a little too comerciallzed to be really good. The restaurant is decorated kind of like a TGIFriday's or Applebees, with "wacky" things screaming for your attention on the walls.
The service was fine but not remarkable. Our waitress was friendly but didn't refill our drinks quite often enough and the food got there just a little slower than I would have liked. The ribs and the steak were only average, a surprise considering that we had just watched a herd of longhorns go tromping down the street outside. The BBQ sauce, however, was excellent, very tangy. We ordered off the lunch menu and I thought even then the price per person was a little high for the amount and quality of food.
Overall Riscky's is a restaurant that caters to the tourists who come into Fort Worth to see the stockyards and spend money on Texas-shaped soap. If you're after real BBQ, look for that out of the way place with the dust and the ugly taxidermy.
