I disagree with the other posting. The guy who came to my house was courteous and arrived right on time, but did far more than was required and asked, and charged dearly for it. I only wanted him to fix a clog in my drain....something anybody could do with a snake. I told him the clog was most likely near my tub drain as I'd tried to clear it myself and could tell by how quickly the tub would fill with standing water. He proceeded to pull out a bunch of large equipment, working outside my house, and ran a camera down through the pipes out to the street. Initially he'd indicated he was looking under the house but I later found out he was checking the condition of the side sewer. He did find a damaged pipe out by the street, but this was not the thing that was clogging the drain. Each time I asked him about the clog he evaded the question. He finally made it inside the house, ran a snake down my pipes, and retrieved the debris that was causing the clog (all of which took about 15 minutes). He also for some reason took apart the trap in my bathroom sink, although the clog was obviously not in that area. He lost the washer and forgot to put it back together; I reminded him before he left and it took him 15 or 20 minutes to put it back together, going back and forth to and from his van for the parts, etc....and he charged me for this. In total, he was at my house for 1-1/2 hours and charged me $325 to fix the clog that any other plumber could have done for under a third of that cost. I did find out about the damaged side sewer pipe (but, truth be told, since I share the line with my neighbors who are closer to it and at a lower grade it will probably be more of an issue for them than it is me) and charged me $50 for a video of the footage in the drain...something which was unecessary and unasked for. Yes, it's good to know that information, but he should've been more clear about what he was doing, and why, and not imply that this was being done in order to deal with the clog. I don't have that kind of money!! This guy said one of their people would be back to give me an estimate on the larger side sewer repair. I feel I was taken advantage of...I get the sense this outfit encourages their employees to go out an "find" another, larger, potentially more costly issue (sort of like the bad car mechanic) and then hope they can land that larger project as well. Even if I do decide to get the side sewer fixed, I won't be going back to them.
