The first time we tried outback we ordered a take-out and the dinner was very good for the price (relatively inexpensive for steak). The steaks were very tasty and so were the sides.
As a result we went to eat out there for either my husband's birthday or mine last year. Again, the food was very good. We ate there a third time when we had friends from the UK over and again, the food was very good. Both times the service was great.
Expecting a reliably good meal for a good price, we went to Outback this January for our anniversary and were deeply disappointed. The staff at the door were apathetic and too busy talking about people from school to take care of their customers properly. One of the more senior waiters ended up doing their job for them.
The steak was very fatty and I ended up throwing most of it away. The starter was the buffalo chicken bites and they were just OK. Our waiter was terrible. He thought he was being funny but really he was just acting like an ass. He wasn't attentive enough and never ever asked us how our meal was. Maybe that's because he knew it wasn't going to be any good. My husband was equally dissatisfied with his steak.
It was all very disappointing on the last occasion we were there. It could very well have been a fluke but it was so bad Id seriously considered writing a letter to the manager to inform him of his staff's lack of professionalism, including the chef on duty that night.
We'll go to Saltgrass next time and pay for a good meal.
