Target is one of my favorite stores all year, and it is the first place I stop for post-holiday sales. In fact, in previous years, I have often arrived early to wait in line. They typically discount their holiday items 70% on this day. This includes indoor/outdoor lights, Christmas trees, stockings, ornaments, cards, and wrapping paper. Each year, I buy my cards and wrapping paper for the upcoming year here. The section with the trees, lights, and decorations usually gets pretty crazy (I would liken it to the madness of Black Friday sales) and so I have never been adventurous enough to venture into those sections. This year, we have actually been eyeing a few items, so I plan to check it out. All of their stocking stuffer/gadget items are also marked down and are 50-70% off. This includes things such as remote control organizers, flashlight sets, coffee mugs that you can plug into your car, and coolers that you can plug into your car. If you typically participate in white elephant gift exchanges (or gift exchanges of any time), this is a great time to stock up for the upcoming year. Another great section to check out is the toys. Many toys are marked down and are 30-50% off. Last year, I bought most of my daughter’s birthday presents as well as birthday presents for my nieces. If you go early in the morning, people are usually flocking to the holiday section and the toys section usually isn’t very crowded. It does get worse as the day goes on. Within the next few weeks, they will do additional markdowns and the toys will be 50-70% off, but from my experience, most of the “good stuff” is usually gone by this point. Target also clearances their baby items at this time of year to make way for the next year’s line of products. You can find great deals on car seats, strollers, pack and plays, and clothing. The “deals” are not always marked, so sometimes you have to scan items to see if they are on sale. If you frequent any “bargain” boards, sometimes people will post the deals that they have found which makes it a little bit easier. If you’re in to waiting to get the best deals, here is the traditional Target markdown schedule: 50% off day after holiday for three days 75% off fourth day after holiday for three days 90% off seventh day after holiday for 1-2 days
