Businiess name:  Sagebrush Medical Plaza

Review content:
At the Sagebrush Medical Plaza, near the corner of River Blvd. and Columbus, there is a separate lab inside the building that is part of the medical complex BUT is not part of the medicine clinic or pharmacy. This lab is a drawing station only and they send all their lab work to Kern Medical Center to be tested. Please see my reviews of the Sagebrush Medical Plaza, Medicine Clinic and Pharmacy for more info. To go to the lab, you enter the second set of double doors [counting from River Blvd], the same set of doors you use to enter the Medicine Clinic and Pharmacy but as you enter the long, long hallway, turn left into the first wide doorway to enter the waiting room for the pharmacy and lab. Upon entering the waiting room, you turn left and go to the first window marked Lab. There is a small wire basket on the counter that you are to place your yellow referral form in. The person at the counter will look at your referral and sometimes will tell you that you must go all the way back to the end of the long long hallway, that you first entered as you came into the building, to the receptionist to check-in. I think that this is for insurance purposes though I am not entirely certain. I have always had to go back to the receptionist to check-in. The receptionist will give you even more paperwork, have you sign some papers, and then she will staple it all together for you to put back into the lab’s wire basket. After you go back to the lab’s waiting room [also the pharmacy waiting room], have a seat and wait your turn. Once your name is called, you go back into the lab’s rooms. Both times I have been to the lab, I had blood taken for testing. I had a different man each time. The first time I had blood taken, the lab tech was a younger man and he was nice and he was careful as he put the needle in my arm and did NOT find a vein. Then he had to use my hand where he did the butterfly-type needle thing and the blood came right out into the vials. He was competent and did not cause unnecessary pain. The second time I visited the lab, I had even more blood taken for a ton of different blood tests. This time, there was an older lab tech and he was very nice, friendly, and very competent. He used my arm, found the vein the first time, and took three or four vials of blood. The whole process was over quickly and with the bare minimum of discomfort. As I have found in the past at other labs, it is not easy to find someone to draw blood without a great deal of discomfort and pain. I was very pleased with both of my visits to the Sagebrush Medical Plaza, Lab. Their techs were very good, very competent, and inspired confidence in me about their abilities as lab techs. I would recommend the Sagebrush lab drawing station for anyone who may need blood drawn.
