When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. I went through a many tests and a few doctors until I was put on the right medication to help control my Grand Mal seizures http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/main_epilepsy.html other wise known as Tonic-clonic seizures. When I moved I needed to find a new doctor and it was recommended that I see Dr. Schwartz http://www.lbmc.org/physician.htm He is an odd looking man, best described as a pear with a head. When I walk into his office for the first time I was a little scared I must say but all that fear was washed away when he started to speak to me. He actually was talking TO me, so many doctors talk at you and that frustrates me, and was asking me questions to get a feel about how much I actually understood about my condition. Since that day I have a few scares with my seizures including a mix up on getting the generic version and not name brand which lead to many trials and errors of new medications to raise the amount in my blood level. Through it all I was not that scared because I knew/know if I have any questions or problems and I will get his very helpful daughter, the receptionist and she will either give me the answers I am looking for or have her dad talk to me. A few months ago my seizures changed yet again, seems that can happen with age and I now get them once a month. It took three months to make sure his assumptions were right but now for one week a month I take one extra dose of my medication http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/dil1136.htm There is still one thing after over 15 years that I just do not understand. why he uses a closed safety pin to check foot reflexes and I just can not bring myself to ask him why that and not a regular medical instrument but I have never been poked so it can not be that bad.
