Poor service with a side order of "who gives a darn -- they're only customers." I had heard from others that the service at Carrabba’s in Portage had gone down hill but I figured how bad could it be. Well, it was horrible, almost non-existent service and average, at best, food. You’ve been warned – never, ever go to this place. Here is what happened. Tonight, July 11, 2006 we arrived a few minutes after nine p.m. Ordered at 9:15 and received our salad or soup about 10 minutes later. A half hour later hour waitress, let’s just call her Kay, wandered over and asked us how it was going at our table. No so great. I asked how it was going in the kitchen and Kay flippantly informed us she had no idea, but she was having a great night and she never worried about what was going on in the kitchen. Fifteen minutes later, the "manager” wandered over to advise that there "was a problem with the ticket" and that was why it had taken so very long. We were told it would be out in five or six minutes and the manager would pick-up our tab, except for the one alcoholic drink my spouse had ordered. Fifteen minutes later Kay the waitress wandered over and advised that mashed potatoes that my daughter ordered weren't available any longer. We asked that they just put what we had ordered in boxes and we would take it to go. About 8 minutes later the meal finally arrived. The waitress insinuated that we were lucky because it was a $50.00 meal and we got it for free. No apology. Hmmmmm. They might as well have kept the food. Irritation had replaced hunger about 45 minutes before this.
