Review content:
On the morning of 4/27/15, the transmission in my 2002 Mazda 626 failed on the way to my wife's workplace. The car was worth at most $3,000.
My wife called King's Transmissions because it was nearby, and because it offers free estimates and determination of fixes:
"At Kings Transmissions, we believe that the customer comes first, which is why we offer free local towing to our facility. When you come in, you’ll receive a free estimate, diagnostic testing and road testing to evaluate your vehicle and to determine necessary repairs."
They lie. What they do is verbally quote you Price A or Price B. When you tell them that B is more than the car's worth, and you need to know which it would be, they go ahead and remove the transmission and CHARGE you for the estimate/determination even if you expressly say you're not authorizing charges. In my case they demanded $800 just to determine it needed $3,100 in repairs.
Then, if you decide not to fix it, they hold your car (even if it's totaled), and threaten to send it off to City impound. They actually told me they WOULDN'T tell me where it went, and that by the time I found it, there'd be hundreds MORE in charges.
They won't send you written estimates by email, or break down the "work" they allegedly did, under the lame excuse that "Our scanner's broken."
They refused to give me back my parts, and even removed lugnuts from the vehicle so it couldn't be towed AFTER I paid.
I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.
